  1. Sincerely, we truly just need a glam catalog system instead of this “set bundle feature”, it just feels like a band-aid fix for the glamour system! Which in turn, might actually just cause more problems in the long run!

  2. I just wish they'd STOP trying to make the glamour plate system work. Yoshi P tries to make it sound like it's impossible to make a new system, but I know he's full of sh*t – if it were impossible, WoW's characters would not have a transmog system, and wouldn't have MASSIVELY overhauled their own glamour dresser system (void storage and transmog vendor), to let you transmog anywhere if you have a summoned vendor, you don't need storage…every piece of gear is catalogued, just like in GW2. XIV needs to have this glamour system ripped out at the roots – it needs a whole new one designed to be more user friendly and easier to use…that doesn't limit you. They're capable of it, but it would no doubt take so much work to make a whole new glamour system, that they don't want to dedicate a whole team to THAT and lose out on them making progress on other game stuff.

SE needs to toss some more cash to XIV, and get them a team to make a whole new glam system. This addition is kinda stupid, and only benefits people who have lots of store sets/holiday sets…lots of RPers, like me? I don't have the full Dalmascan set! The shirt is the one good part of it. So I don't benefit from the outfit storage, since I only collect PARTS of most outfit sets. So…still a crap system with not enough options. I maintain that they're fully capable of making a whole new system, but it's too much work.

  3. It’s actually kinda funny how much more I’ve come to understand the intricacies of the glamour system after experiencing working databases!

The reason we can’t apply glams while not in towns is likely to do with how glam plates are loaded. Someone else mentioned that all glam plates are simultaneously loaded into memory for the player to access, this likely means that this data is unloaded when out of towns to save on memory usage that’s needed for things like mobs.

Sets themselves require stripping customizations because each set is really a database call to a central, universal table that stores all available sets! They would need to create a separate connected table to each glam dresser to store any customization data for individual pieces of a set and that would defeat the memory- and storage- saving purpose of this new system in the first place! As for set variations this is also why you need individual pieces. If you try to remove a set from the dresser but there’s only supposed to be one copy of an item shared between two sets it gets too complicated to keep track. What they could do is have redundancy flags checked and simply only remove the unique pieces of a set with variations. So if you have two sets that have 3 unique and 2 shared pieces, removing set A only gives you back the 3 unique pieces while set B is still stored. Problem is that we then run into the memory storage issue but this one could likely be rectified easier with a simple flagging or tag system.

Now what we really need is to integrate retainers into the dresser system. GIVE THEM PLATES! One for each retainer! Have a new submenu on each retainer that opens up their glam plate and the dresser + armoire, and have a submenu on the dresser itself that swaps to all of your retainer plates!

  4. Perhaps an "easy" fix for the outfit glamour would be to add more slots to the outfit window, when something has variations like that. So that Isle Vacationer's set would have 8 slots instead of 5 and both tops, both bottoms and both feet can be stored in the one outfit, and you just pick which variation you want when setting up a glamour plate. Players would still have to collect all the pieces, of course, but at least it wouldn't require collecting duplicate pieces.

I also hope when artifact armors get added to the outfit system, that any that include a weapon will have a slot in the outfit glamour for the weapon. Not necessarily for the relic weapon though, since that's different from the artifact set. A "relic weapon" set might not be a bad idea to add too, in case you want to store the replica stages of the various relic weapons.

  5. Time to go visit that calamity salvager, I think for basically everything but store sets, I never keep full sets around, I just pick the pieces I want and then discard the rest for inventory space.

  6. Thank you for explaining this~
It was so confusing how they had it in the patch notes. Made it sound like you wouldnt beable to mix and match with that set anymore…glad to hear that isnt the case-pretty good qol addition~

  7. Useless for me in this implementation: the need of having every single piece before being able to form an outfit is unfeasible with what it's been released, since every possible combination either has one of the really expensive dyes (Jet Black/Pure White), or have an item missing.

  8. I'm running into an issue with the Thavnarian Set and the Moonfire set. I have all the pieces, but they some still show they are missing. I'm guessing because some are crafted and some came from PotD drops?

Edit: Found the issue. They have to be either all HQ or all NQ. You can't make a set if they are mixed quality.

  9. While I appreciate that they are at least trying to do something with the glamour system, the choices of my past have now come back to haunt me.

I got the Archfiend gear from one of the previous pvp series. I'm a viera and the helm was less than useless so I binned it. There is NO WAY to get back pvp series rewards. They're not at the Calamity Salvager, they're not in any npc in Wolves Den, and there's no way to access previous series rewards and claim them again. I am shit out of luck and not able to store the Archfiend gear as a set.

And while I understand why we lose the dyes when storing them as a set, it's still a pain and I'm having to make choices over which sets I leave as individual items because they're dyed with expensive dyes already.

  10. If you need to know if something is part of a SET — the Dresser icon in the top right is different .. it has a + with it now .. other gear that is not set based does not have this — at least from what I've been looking at so far from crafted gear and what is my Dresser.
When looking at items in the Dresser already — they should have the label "Outfit Glamor-ready item" also.

Hope this helps with sorting and organizing !

  11. i like the idea of it, but it feels like a band-aid to me. hopefully the team is hard at work and coming up with ideas on how to improve the glamour system overall for a better experience for users.
still we take what we can get and this is a solid 9/10 update for the current glamour system itself. 1 point lost for dups and quality issues….

  12. I think I really only have two problems with this system: the first is the shared pieces for sets problem which you bring up. A side effect of that problem is that, because you have to get duplicates of items, they'll show up twice in the dresser. The second is that you can't dye an item in a set, despite the fact you can see the individual pieces on each tab. Because of that, it makes using expensive dyes on those items only available on glamour plates, which are limited and don't carry over from one plate to the other—and if you ever replace that item on the plate and save, you just lost all that money.

  13. They are a disaster in terms of friendly user interface, they should learn from world of warcraft, you simply get the appearance without draining your storage to death. and you simply get a panel with all the previews of the pieces you want to glam on your char, end of the story.

  14. Thanks for the guide! 💕 I was totally confused on how to put the sets together. I didn’t realize you’d have to take out items to put them back in

  15. man cant see how thats gonna benefit us much, apart from a few lvl 1 sets, like who is going to go back and farm the head, gloves and feet they are not interested in but need now from sth like the nier raids over dozens of runs, only to be able to save one slot to combine his chest and leg pieces. or from dungeons or raids etc.

  16. There's so much bloat to the glamour system, I feel like the engine is being pushed to its limits from what they say all the time and it's just becoming really bulky and overwhelming. I wish it was possible to simply have a much higher capacity size for the glamour space and a lot, a lot more plates. Don't understand why there isn't a plate for every job at the very least, and the fact that dyes get removed from glam pieces when making outfits is crazy to me because me as well as other friends of mine have spent money on dyes, so there's lost money there, really don't like that ;-;….
