  1. Not sure if you play Phantasy Star Online but I it would be dope if you could do a comparison between these 3. As a console gamer who is excited for the graphic and systems upgrades coming out for all 3 a guide would be amazing.

  2. Great video, you put a lot of effort in it thanks for your work, your video was exactly what I was looking for!
I'm a former ESO player on Xbox one, the game was cool I like the fact to just have one character and one class so that I could really focus on maxing it. But now I am considering playing FF, I'll see when my PC arrives. But thanks again, I hope your channel gets even more attraction you did a tremendous work!!

  3. Just gonna say that despite the way it is described here, ESO while it does offer items in the Crown Store 97% of everything in the crown store is available in the game for 0 real world money. Additionally any ESO+ subscribers (which is not required to play) you receive around 1200 crowns a month, and purchasing multiple months at once with the discounted price awards all crowns upfront for that time. ESO's crown store gives nothing that will give a player some gameplay advantage over another player. Additionally FFXIV sells level boost allowing players to pay for a skip to 10 levels below the max level and story skips so players can pay to skip whole expansion chapters. ESO does offer more in its store however as stated almost everything in its store is available for $0 by playing the game and either earning an achievement or using the gold from in game. In the leveling experience ESO is much better, as any alts created immediately start out with all CP (champion points) obtained by any character on the account, giving alts a bit of extra power to help with their leveling experience, PVP is also more robust and expansive in ESO compared to almost any MMORPG on the market, this includes WoW. FFXIV is a great game, but ESO is just as good in several areas and even better in others, it should also be noted that ESO has crafting sets that require unique areas to make such as cyrodiil's PVP focused sets that require players to venture deep into enemy territory to craft. It is definitely not as robust as FFXIV's crafting but is leaps and bounds better than things like WoW's crafting systems.

  4. Have played a bunch of both games. Honestly prefer ESO just because there's alot of content and different builds and stuff you can mess with. FFXIV just suffers from some pretty rough content droughts.

I will say that the group content in FFXIV is far superior to ESO. It is also much more polished. ESO has so many performance issues and bugs that have been in the game for years. It's frustrating.

  5. Over 4 years of top level eso and the top raid community drove me from the game due to just how vile and drama fueled it was…. ff14 has been a joy they whole time

  6. As a regular player of FFXIV, I’ve been interested in trying ESO for while. This video was fantastic and was exactly what I wanted to see in terms of how the games compared to each other. Also, thanks for the heads-up on going into ESO with a story guide. It would have really turned me off if I started doing main quests is random order and had no idea what was going on. 👍

  7. After over a decade of WoW, I moved to Ff14, but ultimately ended up on ESO. Having more consistent content additions, as well as actual pvp helps a lot to keep you busy.

If you're a WoW player looking for a new game, I'd definitely suggest trying ESO.

  8. I really don't get why people love FFXIV so much. Just look at the graphics. Looks like this game was made in 1995 with a student budget. And wtf is that interface? Straight up colored squares. What do people find attractive in this game and why do so many say that it's better than WoW when it's clearly not. I am not trying to be a hater, but I simply don't understand why people enjoy this game so much…

  9. Thanks for video I can’t decide which one to pick I’m a wow refugee. Lol. The 2.5 sec global on ff14 is what kills me im used to WOW so I think I might hate it.

  10. I have played FFXIV and now is playing ESO. What put me off from FFXIV and prefer ESO is that I have played Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind and I REALLY HATE SUBSCRIPTION based game. I prefer buy to play.

  11. Some notes here: I don't consider ESO's crown store to be that aggressive. Just play SW:TOR and you know what aggressive really means where you have, as an unsubscribed player, to pay for hiding your head-piece, unlock more than 2 action-bars in a game that has more spells to it than probably WoW had in WOTLK (including downranks). For ESO+ members (players who pay the subscription fee) you get automatically assigned crown currency as well which you can spend for whatever you want. Some folks love to buy housing stuff with currency, others need to buy each and every house availablle (though some are only obtainable via real money to be fair) and yet other buy those gambling boxes. DLCs are automatically included for ESO+ members, while addons (so called chapters) are not and need to be bought by each one who wants to play that content.

In regards to the combat system. ESOs combat system is an active combat system where you as the player need to train your muscle memories to get the rotation right. ESO does not really teach you how to properly engage in combat but the combat itself is based upon a priority system where a more important ability/skill will cancel a lower-priority thing: block and dodge-roll have the highest priority, the lowest priority has a light or heavy attack (short or long click on the left mouse button) and each skill you can use is in the middle. This can now be used to "interrupt" certain animations and therefore get out more skills in the same time. Internally ESO uses a 1 sec global cooldown (GCD) where you can't use an other skill. Though certain animations need way more time than this second and you can basically clip the rest of the animation and do other stuff. This is usually summarized as animation canceling. So in a typical rotation you basically start with a light/heavy attack and when it is about to go off, you hit your skill. This will look as if you only do one thing but you actually do two things at the same time, the light/heavy attack and your ability. You need to basically train your muscles to do optimally do a light attack before each ability you use, even the bar swap and use the animation canceling of block/dodge roll/bar swap on long-animations. The whole dance is summarized than as light/heavy attack weaving and it contributes to your damage significantly. Especially light attack weaving is very important as plenty of buffs you obtain depend on proper light attack weaving. Especially when you are into PvP this is a thing you need to master! I have seen magica players who were beasts on their toons though if they had to swap to stamina-characters they were just average as the timing didn't work out. The same hold true also for stamina players who switched to magica. Loosly speaking, you need to train the rotation for each class and role individually. Therefore I consider the combat system in ESO much more player-skill based than typical MMOs have.

What ESO does on top of it pretty good (most of the time) is the visualization of certain boss abilities. As a tank you can clearly read them and make proper call outs for the rest of the raid. Unfortunately often times the server performance in PvP but to some degree also in PvE isn't optimal. I quit ESO i.e. because of that. As a tank it was vital to read the next boss abilities and due to server lag I got hit often times before the animation actually started. In high-end raiding this usually means insta-death as those abilities crush you if you aren't blocking them. And the meta for tanks and healers in ESO is also quite different to any other MMO I played thus far that you are more or less supporters for DPS, hence you can't stand in block all the time. As a tank I was constantly responsible for plenty of debuffs on the boss or throwing orbs DDs could use to replenish their resources and therefore I was constantly doing other things in between boss attacks which forced me to drop the block. Zenimax mentioned that they wanted to improve the server performance notably, but at the time I quit (almost 2 years ago) the situation even got worse, not sure if they actually managed to fix those issues.

  12. I played both.. I actually like ESO better BUT as someone who leaves in asia.. I got poor latency and weaving in battle is SO hard.. closer to end game Ppl expect you to be able to hit a certain DPS range and its not possible without weaving your skills

  13. I'm a eso veteran player and in all onesty I think u lost some pieces along the way for example bash weaving is really important, u haven't shown a rotation, and it's not advised to focus on jabs on magplar, it works a million times better on stamplar, I mean u could have said so much more and interesting stuff, like the bars mechanic where u put dots and buffs on back and main damage in front, shame but overall it's a good guide for beginners

  14. Missed to explain that eso supports players to trade gold with the store currency. So you can farm out gold in game and buy everything they sell in store.

  15. Pretty good comparison overall. I wanted to note though, you actually don't need to go through ESO's story at all if you don't want to. Almost all of the content isn't locked behind the main story. None of the world bosses, dolmens, delves, public dungeons, instanced dungeons, raids, arenas, crafts, or pvp content is locked behind the story. Only a handful of skill trees are locked behind story progression, and it's not progression across all zones but rather progression on individual story archs like the thieves guild or assassin's guild. Usually those aren't skill trees most people use in builds either so it's unneeded for alts.

Also, skill points are actually pretty easy to obtain for alts. I leveled most of my alts doing public dungeons, which each have a skyshard and a skill point for the big group boss, and instanced dungeons, which have skill points for the dungeon quest. You also get skill points thrown at you in pvp and find skyshards pretty easily especially with mods while running to public dungeons and inside delves.

The tedious things to do when leveling an alt are usually leveling the skill trees, though most of the trees happen pretty quickly overall. The annoying skill tress to level are the ones that don't level automatically level as you do things, like the mages guild which requires you to find books and can be quite long and boring to do if you're not questing, skyshard hunting, or lvling through delves or public dungeons.

I say all of this as somebody who's over Champion 1100, has over 62 days playtime, and has 7 fully geared characters with a bank full of gear yet hasn't fully finished the main games story for all 3 factions nor have I started almost all of the story in DLC and expansion content. I'm currently going through the story on my main but it's absolutely not needed to do and you can easily lvl an alt with most of the skills lines you want in a few days.

A game should be fun and interesting on the get go.

  18. Yes when you make a new char, you have to do almost everything again that you had to do for other chars.
It works this way in every single game ever created (with a few exceptions) and makes perfect sense.
Suggesting to spend real cash on skipping past this process is really stupid.

  19. My take on both games from a long time final fantasy and elder Scrolls fan.

    COMBAT-
ESO is action based with that aside aside ffxiv has a better comba system imo. ESO has no cool downs so you get people spamming the same skill over and over with no mind and no rotation. Your bar is literally 5/10 buffs 1/10 debuffs 2/10 heals 2/10 spammables. You literally just constantly refresh buffs and debuffs and then spam the same skills to deal damage or heal. It's so bad and boring. Then you got idiots who just spam skills like snipe from a distance or jabs close ranged. Ffxiv allowing a combo and cooldown system gives a more complex combat system where you have to actually be good at it not just mindlessly spam. Yes in eso you can block and dodgeroll which adds to the immersion but it just eats up your resources and makes cc kind of pointless besides draining stamina. Ffxiv wins in this category.

    Crafting-
. Eso has better crafting system. It is superior in every way. You can craft an armor in sooo many styles and dye its color. You can mix and match and you can add traits to your armor. Giving you more defense or increasing your armor enchantment for example. You can research to learn traits, deconstruct gear to get materials or just farm them in the world like any other mmo. It's very expansive and allows for a great number of builds. ESO wins in this category.

    Story-
I enjoyed ESO much more because it was all voiced and acted out in front of you whilst ffxiv is mostly text based with cut scenes. That does change once you get into the latest dlcs in ffxiv however. The downside is ESO treats all your characters individually. Any achievement of what you've done on your main is not recognized on your alt. You don't carry over the quest completion, title or achievement. For me that makes it hard to quit my main who i spent sooo long making into a master crafter and achievement whore. I constantly go back to my magdk due to that. Ffxiv you can literally do everything on one toon. There's no need to make another like eso. You can play any class and do any quest. Eso contradicts it's own story with its dlc. Making the whole factions aspect of the game along with pvp dumb. It makes no sense. The factions themselves make no sense. The ffxiv dlcs last MUCH longer and adds more. The dlc from eso are short and add small things. The main story can literally be done in 1 or 2 days. The whole map can be completed in under a week. I'm a big story person and for mainly that reason i give story to ffxiv.

Overall I think ffxiv is better but I mostly play eso because i like my characters to have a beard.

  20. Played WoW, then switched to ESO. Was curious about FF14, but after this honest break down I think I'll watch streams or YouTube vids, but stick to ESO. Thinking about watching a YT breakdown of the FF14 storyline.

  21. As someone who has playing eso for years i can say Eso has 6 classes but there many 7 variations for each class which are different but with hundreds of micro variations. Example- mag Templar, stam Templar, healer Templar, tank Templar, pvp mag Templar, pvp stam Templar, then a hybrid Templar.

  22. ESO is so good. The PvP has to be one of the greatest I've seen in any game I've ever played. Cyrodiil immerses you in what truly feels like an actual war among three different alliances. The strategy, risk, and reward make it so intense.

  23. Great video, man!
just got back into ffxiv after about 6 years of not even thinking about it. having a bunch of fun, but wanted to see if i should put consideration to eso. this video helped me decide which is more my style (ffxiv).

  24. ESO is better imo, however FF14 has cross play and if you own two copies (PC & a console version) you can log into your account with all your characters on both. So if you wanna grind on the couch one day go ahead. Wish ESO had this feature.

  25. I am Playing ESO for a time now, and yesterday I started FF14, I AM also liking, even with differences

I like Both Sagas Lore too, I grown up Playing FF games, and I see references of FF in eberywhere

In ESO I try to make "Eastter Eggs" for many games that I like, like FF, and now I'll do It in FF 14 too

  26. I have over 1k hours in ESO and some 600 in FFXIV. ESO is definitely the superior game, if only it wasn't so buggy. The amount of customization you have in ESO and all the builds you can make and tweak to your heart's content (and you can always respec) vs FFXIV where they just hand you the skills as you level up and that's it. Plus you can play ESO for free once you have the base game vs the mandatory monthly sub on FFXIV. Not to mention free movement vs tab targeting. FFXIV is a semi decent mmo, imo ESO beats it hands down.
