This raid sim is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. I honestly can’t wait to see how it develops. You can download it here: https://github.com/xiv-stats/xiv-sim-documentation/

What do you guys think? Is this something you could see yourself using in the future?
Woah, that's neat. As someone who's in a fairly casual group doing ultimates, i would love to have more time to practice in mechanics and movements but since we all have schedule conflicts this is a nice enough substitute to learn some movements and such ahead of static runs, potentially cutting down on wipes. I'll definetely keep an eye out for this and hope it keeps getting updated in the future. Question is if this takes into account if you practice alone or if you need multiple people to resolve specific mechanics.
Oryza Mercury with another top tier video, keep it up
Thanks for shouting this project out. I think its really cool and have been following it for a while but sadly havent been able to attend for their testing sessions
This is awesome for progression, but I can't wait to see what crazy mechanics people make.
Would be nice if you could practice stuff on your own with bots in it.
Review of the sim: I helped test custom LR that night (Claire Claymore) and I didn't know any of the other ultimate mechanics other than the TEA ones. (We were there for LR hard, so totally caught off guard there)
I haven't seen the mechanics in the fight itself or any VODs, so I was completely blind. However the group walked me through them/toolbox and I was able to learn some of the mechanics sim first. I looked at a couple of the mechanics through some VODs after and instantly could tell what I had to do. I haven't gone into the 70 ultimates but I can definitely see myself having little to no issues with the mechanics that I did learn. (I hella int'd that night so thanks to Oryza and the rest of the group for being patient, means a lot yo)
Other than testing with everyone, my TEA group (casual, 5-6 hrs a week) used the wormhole simulator every night before raid when we were at wormhole prog. It was extremely useful and definitely saved us a lot of time.
I'm a huge fan of this sim and look forward to other groups benefiting from focused practice of common problematic mechanics.
It's also a good place to develop new strats so I'm excited to see some cursed/blessed new strats in the future.
This is a horrible thing. Part of the difficulty of a mech like Wormhole is getting through 3 phases first. This trivializes that entirely and removes a big part of the fights difficulty curve. You’re not SUPPOSED to be able to practice wormhole on repeat.
As a PS player.. I'm very Jealous. Would love to use this.
this might go into the too much territory, this tool isn't as bad as the simulator on wow, because we don't have access to the bosses in advance (PTRs) but who knows in the future, plus if it gets used widespread it might have an annoying effect on PF. I do agree it's cool but it's extremely on the fringe territory for me
I highly dislike it. Instead of helping players to become better at analyzing and recognizing mechanics while playing the game, it makes players rely even more on external tools in order to play the game. I wonder if now most savage/ultimate groups will now demand not only that you completely memorized a guide, but also that you played the entire fight via the simulator at least a few dozen hours beforehand. The only thing missing now is to have an ingame-overlay with big, flashing arrows and green areas on the ground, pointing to where you are supposed to stand next and a prediction feature that shows where aoes will show up in the next 5 seconds… you know, to make the game "more accessible". Players having the play the game as intended? Players having to think? Difficult challenges being difficult? So uninclusive and inaccessible!
FOR ALL THE PLAYSTATION PLAYERS: I'm not sure if I explained this poorly in the video, but this raid simulator is not like ACT or other mods/third party tools. It does not require an existing FFXIV process to work. The raid simulator is a completely separate program that runs on its own with no relation to FFXIV as a program. In theory, you could make WoW mechanics in there or anything unrelated to FFXIV if you really wanted to. The only requirement to using this raid sim is to have access to a windows computer (I don't know if the sim works on mac or not)
EDIT: WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT in terms of relation to FFXIV, this is as much of a third party software as Spotify, Google Chrome, or Call of Duty. It is a completely separate program that runs on your computer and has absolutely no attachment to Final Fantasy XIV as a process. While you use it to practice FFXIV, that would be the equivalent of using YouTube to watch a raid guide, or using Google Docs to read a job guide, or asking a question on /r/ffxiv. This should not fall under bannable software at all and is NOT a third party tool in that regard. You can run this program and simulate mechanics even if you A) don't have FFXIV installed, or B) have never played FFXIV in your life. It's a separate thing. The ONLY thing I can think of is that the sim itself could be copyright striked ( or something similar) for using the same boss and attack names as FFXIV. But as a user, you do not have to care about that.
Is this the same as https://www.xivsim.com? it looks different
That fking heavensfall + chains into light rampart. That's so cursed. Really cool stuff!
Its up to your static if you want to use the sim right? Again same with ACT, dont harrass players for not using it and it's fine. I think it's fine that people who want to practice the movement mechanic can use it to do so. You arent cheating the fight, you are still learning the mechanic. Complaining about this is like complaining about using Kovaaks/Aimlab for aim training.
I hope SE dmcas them for using their IP, this tool should not become common
Can you do this solo? Or do you need other peeps to do the mechanics with? 😮
why would anyone make this bullshit public knowledge…
./barf. This will not be good for the party finder at all. Just play the game. Ultimate is supposed to be hard. This will be cancerous to the raiding community
Was fun to be involved in testing and tuning this with everyone!
Lol yoshi p going to hate this
This shouldn't exist
Careful about third party softwares yoshi p stated if its even implied as being mandatory could get your ass banned. specially if you need to prove or post anything
Extremely lame and should be bannable, basically using SE assets/intellectual property, I wish Yoshi would shutdown all these 3rd party tools including mods for ffxiv, I've already witnessed how boring this all gets on WoW and don't want to go back to being a slave of 3rd party tools like how I was when I played WoW.
a pure simulator to study raid mechanics ? bruh this save so much time it's fucking fantastic
