  1. I thought the new european shadow data center was going to be an actual new thing, where you could transfer your current character onto permanently, not some probationary thing where theres no new players or whatever, so thats disappointing, i was considering moving over for an entirely fresh start.

  2. DO NOT create a new character on the new dynamic Servers Go to Seraph it's the most populated out of all of them right now. I REPEAT DO NOT MAKE A CHARACTER ON THE NEW WORLDS UNLESS ITS DYNAMIS OR HALLICARNASUS WHICH ARE THE ONKY TWO BARLEY POPULATED WORLDS ON DYNAMIS.

  3. I am a dynamis player on Maduin. I have to inform you guys about moving to the new world's here. It should be available for housing bids as of the next bidding period Because the world's went live at the start of a bidding period. That is what happened when the data center went live last time with initial worlds.
If you're looking to bid, or to do anything significant with housing , June 20th should be the first day all that gets going. If anyone sees something different, let me know.

  4. Honestly, I might just take advantage of the free gil. I play this game with my husband. We could both make a new character and then trade the 1mil to each other's main through data center travel.

  5. Figured they would add the dynamis servers before dawntrail, but this feels like there was no build up or mention of it[don't want to complain, but I think more people would have moved over had they announced this earlier, unless I somehow missed it earlier]. I legit thought we would enter dawntrail with still only 4 servers, hopefully this makes queing in dynamis not take nearly as long. I also hopefully expect that a lot of people will move to dynamis before the launch, so they can get the story started without the 2-4 digit long waitlist on their home data centers

  6. Honestly the only thing that worries me with the new EU DC is that if you want to go back to your own server you will be possibly stuck for a bit, because travelers/wanderers dont take priority. I can imagine you gonna have to log on at weird hours. Since from what i understood you cant use MB and retainers etc on the Shadow DC, you cant sell drops from mobs either etc

  7. sad I already got those 15 days when they released the OCE server. My current sub ends on the 27th so to play Dawntrail during early lunch I'll have to buy both Dawntrail and the sub.

  8. its odd for us in America because the Dynamis server as a whole is a low pop data center as it is now. I left Dynamis 7 months ago, because it was impossible to find people to group with and or the waiting time for Duty Roulette was 30 – 40 minutes for anything.

  9. Okay I made a mistake here, I was taking about the Dynamis servers when the shadow servers are on the euro datacenter. However the Dynamis servers are still listed as new and they just added 4 more servers when they still have a low population.

  10. As someone who started on Dynamis (Maduin) the new servers are definitely a head-scratcher because we already struggle to get reliable queue times (PVP and Raids in particular have been dead for years), to say nothing of market board mark-ups, so we already make it a point to data center travel elsewhere for everything.

The only real incentive I can think of is for those sitting on millions of gil who still don't have a house, but I imagine that anyone who has played long enough to amass 35m+ gil is firmly rooted where they are already and won't take even a free transfer, and most newer players (such as the influx of Xbox players) went straight to Aether/Primal/Crystal anyway, meaning Dynamis didn't get as much (if any) new blood as Square thought.

Only other use I can think of is that these were made as a place to help offload the coming congestion on Aether/Primal/Crystal, though the irony is that it still won't help with queue times for Dynamis because everyone is going to be hitting up the new content hard and fast, not waiting around to hop back into old content.

Hell, I don't even have much inclination myself to make an alt on the new servers for any of the bonuses because I already got the free play time, and I don't know anyone I could trust to hold onto 1m gil from the alt to trade back to my main, lol.

  11. I see several comments about transferring gill from alt character to main – like not knowing / trusting anyone to facilitate transfer. There is a workaround for that (if your alt can travel to world of your main – REQUIRES RECEIVING CHARACTER TO BE LEVEL 50.
1: Buy a house or apartment on main – requires 500.000 gil (and level 50) to purchase apartment (can be done at any time) – you probably have an apartment if you're level 50 or above
    2: Buy a mannequin from a housing merchant – price 10.000 gil
3: Set any random apparel item for sale on the mannequin – sales price 1.000.000 gil (or whatever you want to transfer)
4: Set acces to your apartment / house to public
5: Travel to world of your main with your alt and buy the item directly off the mannequin (to avoid sales tax) inside your main's apartment / house
6: take the gil off your retainer and hoard it 🙂

  12. A friend of mine (when she found out about the four new worlds coming to Dynamis) said: "Adding new worlds to Dynamis will not fix the data center as a whole. The reason why Dynamis is considered to be dead, lifeless, or The Retirement Center of FFXIV is the FFXIV community's fault. Players of FFXIV abused Dynamis as a housing data center only. FFXIV players want to bemoan the lack of activity on Dynamis: when the root cause is FFXIV players not staying on Dynamis to do content. SE should have implemented a system where players traveling from Dynmis could only use the Market board or access other housing areas. Also, the Road to 80 buff shpuld be disabled if a player is going tp run content on another data center. Actual game play should have been required to be done on Dynamis."

While I understand where she is coming from (eventhough what she said is harsh), she is correct in that Dynamis will never become as active as other data centers unless players stick to Dynamis and actually play on it. However, there are many who say that the fault with Dynamis is in SE's corner. Nevertheless the old adage remains; "If you want to see something change: be that change yourself." If n this case: if players want Dynamis to be more active, then the need to be willing to make Dynamis active. Yes, the Dynamis data center could be used to alleviate server congestion when Dawntrail launches; but, in the end: SE's goal was not creating a data center for housing only; but, to have that data center grow as a viable and thriving option other than Aether or the other NA data centers. As for my friend? She said she would gladly wait extra time for a queue to pop on Dynamis as it shows as least one person wants to see that data center grow and become a rival to other data centers.

One thing SE could have done to entice players to play jobs and content on Dynamis is to double the Gil rewards given from the MSQ or other content. The Road to 80 buff takes care of the XP portion and for players leveling multiple jobs: that's great. However, I am no expert and am barely getting my feet wet in FFXIV.

Nevertheless, if I were on Dynamis: I'd more than likely stay there for all content regardless of wait time: only traveling to another data center for Market Board purposes on the social aspects of non game play.

  13. It's kind of annoying that if you're on Primal, Crystal or Dynamis data center, the PF is essentially dead for raid, because everyone go to Aether for raid. You have about 150-200 parties on an active day on PF for Aether while non-Aether data center only has 10 or less. Then half of those are just advertisement and spam. When you're not on your home world, you don't have access to your retainer, and some quests you can't do either, can't access linkshells, no FC buffs, etc. I remember Primal PF used to have 100+ parties in PF during an active night, and now it's just a ghost town.
