  1. I cleared DR savage yesterday and while it was incredibly fun, I also don't think I'll want to do it ever again. What completely kills the content for me is having to rely on Lost Actions. Farming the fragments is just not fun at all and even after you get them you have to deal with the stupid gacha system that is the fragment appraisal. If you combine that with the fact that Lost Arise, the rarest action from its fragment, also relies on a very low % of chance to work, it can result on a great amount of effort, time and possibly gil going to waste. Relying on luck is never fun.
Another aspect of how flawed the system is can be seen in the many times my group had to leave the instance simply because one person forgot their Pure Essence. That's potentially 47 Reraisers and Essences going to waste just because someone made a very common mistake.
I also cannot understand how 1v1s can be a good design in a MMO at all, especially inside Bozja, where many other players also want to take part on it. In Delubrum it isn't as bad, but I'd rather have a full group participate than just one person. Excluding content from a large scale of people is never a good thing in my opinion.

  2. Anyone who thinks Bozja stuff isn't the best side combat content ever put in this game is dead wrong. Hunts were trash, Diadem was trash, POTD was okay but ultimately wasn't great, Eureka was meh. Bozja comes in and blends all the good stuff together and adds the lost actions that shake the game up nicely.

  3. Good luck finding a static. Unless youre parsing high (orange+) no one is even going to humour letting you join. And if you fuck up theyll kick you from it. Lol

  5. I did have fun with this but I do think this has a major longevity problem.

The first problem is rewards. After the first clear, you already got everything that you need outside of glamour reasons. You got the mount from the achievement and the minion drops guaranteed. No incentive to do more than once. The only real reason you would want to run this more than once is for the dyable gear. Maybe if they add a higher chance for the gold Gabriel mount or the hair style in savage there might be more reason to do it. So it really has no staying power.

Two is the lost actions. You need to use them to get any real enjoyment from the long thing but the problem there is farming the fragments for it. Sure you can get a group together and get the stuff likes cares for reraisers and compassions for lost arise. However, they have a chance of dropping from along with several other possibilities. Say, you use a lost font of power and banner of honored sacrifice with the duelist essence. You are not refunded from doing this in either Savage DR or normal. This means either buying the fragments you need for them, which are not guaranteed from the lost fragments when you have them. So this avenue of getting them can become costly in the long run. The other way is to farm for them but again, you don't have many ways of getting certain fragments since some of them only drop in Castrum when you save the required number of prisoners or the critical engagements in the north. Of course, a fair amount of people don't have the time to pull this off.

Third, it's the logistics of the whole thing. Trying to organize these large scale attempts, while admirable, is foolhardy. That means 48 people need to have the same amount of time dedicated to trying to prog or clear the fight. Sometimes this can be just an issue with normal 8 man groups. Multiple that by 6 and you can have so many issues happen like a dc, power outage or other real life issues. This means you need have subs on standby to fill in for any mia people. Also those subs need to be ready as well and caught up too. It also means you need have flexible people as well. I had to juggle between being a melee, a caster, a healer and a tank for my group while we were progging and getting reclears. There are so many variables that can go wrong with such a large scale effort like this.

This was fun to do but it doesn't have good rewards, the lost actions can be a pain to obtained and the organization behind it is a problem as well. It just doesn't have sustainability for long term playability. Heck, even BA and Ultimates have better permeance than this.

  6. Man, i'm in the process of progging this right now 4 hours a day, for 2 days a week, and I'm having a great time, in our last session at the very end we reached phantom of Bozja who we expect to get down in our next session and begin prog on trinity Avowed. I'm actually really happy that I got to find a group for this content, its honestly been a blast since day 1.

  7. Is the Cerberus mount time-limited? (as in, it's no longer guaranteed once Endwalker comes out). I'm still going through Heavensward and I won't be able to run DR anytime soon

  8. I'm a bit late for the conversation but gonna give my opinion here.

    1. I'm from elemental and there're some discord group that will form a somewhat casual run teaching newcomer what to do , etc. Unless you really don't want to communicate with other people (but really you run 48 man raid even if you don't have problem but maybe you can help some newbie) you shouldn't have a problem finding a group.

    2. I'm against letting people que in separately duty finder style. I mean even a premade 48 where everyone in discord mistake still happen a lot. imagine you and 2 other party really know the mechanic and perform well but there're 2 new party who will died at first boss will you keep the run going ? will you be able to clear it ? even if you can will it waste your time and enjoyment. Until today I still found people running normal mode without popping essence while they're lv15 and have relic weapon meaning they quite familiar with the place and decide nah I'm not gonna put effort so the group in a whole have a better kill time. I don't want to deal with these kind of thinking when try running savage and they can't even survive first raid wide and drag the other 47 people down.

    3. For the requirement being too strict like you need to form 48 man alliance before it's in itself very optional content I think it's a good reward for people who take time and effort to do it. It's not like a major thing that you need to play or you should play to understand story/lore. I don't feel it gated me to not participate I feel more that it's a challenge for people who need a harder content to run.

I think it's a good content for the game overall it encourage people to communicate and discuss about thing, it makes people play it as a community. It might not suit everyone but what content is ? I think it slot itself well in the niche of grand battle content since FFXIV don't have a general GVG content that require hundred of people to communicate with each other. It did well for what it suppose to be.

  9. Unsure about Savage but the normal is so badly designed, so many errors that won't be fixed with it the combat is so bad with some enemies it like "lets make them do this so it seems like they're challenging" when in pact it's not challenging it's just lazy design and allowing you to be easily one shot

  10. I wish I had the time and patience to do more savage and extreme content but with most PF being so strict about who they allow in really kills the experience of endgame for me. Also mechanics for a lot of content is just stupid hard and even harder to get others in sync. Its more of a headache then fun to me at that point.

  11. Okay my thoughts on this: I have to ask myself what the ever loving hell squishnex was thinking on this one.

I love hard content but this is making something over the top just to have an over the top. I disagree with the whole premise of being kicked out for dying. The implications on that are more than solid enough and encourage bad heal habits. Can't learn the fights if you constantly get kicked. What's really over the top here is the gear grind they locked into this. And before some dirty little neck beard starts clacking away: Yes. I'm aware that gear locked behind content is a thing. This is ridiculously designed and not even remotely comparable. I don't like the que system here. I don't like the absou-fucking-lote grind to get to here. And I don't like that it's there as a gating mechanic that has nothing to do with capabilities. It's just there to be there. Literally can be thrown at with just a time and no skill investment. My thoughts.

  12. this seems fun and Yoshi took critics well from BA!
(…. just the Boja map is not as exciting as Eureka … like when exploring it on foot, and sneaking past sleeping dragons xD;.. Eurekas maps + Boja raids = would be best relic / exploration content)

  13. Got my savage clear today. I play on EU. There is no requirements from the discord I ran with to join. You do a newbie run > experienced run > clear run. Boom 3 runs at it and I was done. Easy peasy with clear calls for everyone. This content is made very accessible by the community. There is even a "bank" in which these kind people will hand out fragments that you need. And you give to them what one's you do not need (if you want)

  14. I don't have an issue with content that is too restrictive. Of course, this thing is not made for everybody and the old school WoW raiding feel kinda feel nice. Personally though, the idea that if I fuck up near the end mean that I can destroy the raid for the whole 48 people ( basically, I didn't use a X lost action at a critical time for example) or the idea that some stuff don t work because there is too many people in the raid kinda kill my interest.

Still, they did make some good mechanics and I think even on normal mode, it does force people to become better players in a sense. It feel like, if you mess up two mechanics, you die seems harsh at first, but the idea that you can get some relativement easy access to resurection make you feel like you need to learn how to do these much better .
