  1. I’m happy for this. I know nothing about 14 Mobile and I’m excited to jump in. I know there’s gonna be some crazy Micro transactions, but I wouldn’t mind throwing some money either way if they keep up with content updates.

  2. My cautiously optimistic idea is that this is FFXIV 2 with a modern game engine, and that they just cook this in the background until it's caught up to move everything over to this. Remove all the jank.

Though I still would have loved a straight up NEW mmo, but it wouldn't be unusual for this to be the groundwork of a multiplatform game.

  3. I love how mobile games are always criticized for their monetization, but no one criticizes the free loaders who force companies to have to monetize that way. Sure, the games are “free to play” but they aren’t free to make, so they have to have revenue. Most of the people who complain about the monetization of said games are people who want to play it for free but are upset when other people can pay and get “ahead” or get stuff they can’t. Most people who play for free don’t complain. Most people who buy stuff in the games don’t complain.

Yet, most of the people who complain, are the same people who don’t want to play subscription games, and a lot of them won’t even pony up money for console / pc games.

What kills me the most is when I read forum posts from the people who complain about monetization, don’t pay for their games, then are outraged when a company has to lay off employees, or even goes under, because they aren’t generating enough revenue. Our educational systems have failed so many.

  4. I remember Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast, had a mini-game on the VMU, silly or not, which let you grind out something which you brought back to the main game.

This is really what i would like to see but with todays technologies with smartphones and all – Not cross play, rather mobile content which is something on its own, but rewards (items, xp, Gil etc) you could get back to your main char.

So own thing but connected directly to your char.

    Oh well

  5. Bit early for april fools. Though to be fair given SE's track record with this sort of thing we will hear 1-2 more teasers before the whole thing falls through and we never speak of it again.

  6. I hate that this is happening and that Yoshida was involved in FFXVI too.
FFXIV needs to be put in a cocktail shaker, shake it like everyone right now with the new emote, and serve it.
Itemization got dumbed down way too much along the way, for example and item level doesn't matter much now except for the groups trying to break some records. Every drop is just glam.
