  1. Among Us was huge here in Australia… on mobile. Most young folk I know who play Minecraft first played it on iPad. Mobile is huge, gamers just don't like to acknowledge it.

  2. It not being gacha should not be surprising (but I guess the types of mobile games available in the West is much more limited). The simplest thing I see them doing is just a Premium/VIP sub that allows to to use stuff like the marketboard and own a house. This is on top of the cosmetic store they'll have. I doubt they'll go through the KR/CN MMO upgrade gear system (which is a huge money earner) you see in games like Lineage, RO mobile, etc.)

  3. Can this system be an unintentional story catchup mechanic? While the story can be a 1 to 1 replica, time could concievably be saved elsewhere (travelling etc…). Hence, for new folks coming 5 years from now, the recommendation could be to play mobile to story catchup and buy a skip on PC.

  4. will be super interesting to see how they can modernize such a huge MMO to a mobile device and what game-play/rotations/boss battles look like..
since im a huge FF fan, will def check it out.. but a lot of mobile games hardly keep my interest, esp any of the other FF mobile titles.. Epic Seven the only mobile game i've managed to keep up with over 3+ years.

  5. If this game is stuffed with gacha, messed up schemes to make us pay, etc., I'm out. I like paying for a subscription because I know what I'm getting and it doesn't feel greedy. Sure people can play free games without paying anything as long as they're not impatient, but that's what makes free games grindier and cheaper in general. They had me initially with how earnest the letter seems, but certain elements put me on guard again.

  6. Well, this is reassuring, because I just can't invest that much time in a mobile game. I was disappointed by Ever Crisis because all my time was just about repeating stuff to level my gear. Or missing out on gear because they are tied to events and I am too busy to play then, and I never really got into the story itself. It's why I loved DFFOO so much, as you could absolutely just do the story and not even bother with multiplayer or any of the events if you didn't have the time or motivation. It could be enjoyed by all.

  7. Honestly my biggest fear is that the mobile game will have the wrong consequences for the main game.
That they will at the end of the day develop the main game systems so that it will translate easily to mobile which means more instance things instead of finally working on the open world.
More simplification to accommodate for mobile controls or just shorter content to easily translate it into the mobile system of short burst gameplay.

Of course we could see experimentations in mobile that are good and then implemented into the main game or even more money income that's used for it (as if) but imo I don't have much trust left after still having limited races after so many years or gear still cutting of racial features.

At the end of the day I only see more cash shop items being added…

  9. This statement (to me) sounds like someone that got a list of FFXIV features with one line descriptions and a passing knowledge of FFXIV but really hasn't played the game…
