I really wanted to get this video out so we can start discussing/wondering what this sudden introduction of a new energy type will mean for FFXIV moving forward. Based on how well/poorly this video is received I’ll consider making more theory crafting videos in the future! But I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy this little video of mine!

Dynamis is extremely similar to The Warp from Warhammer 40k. The Warp being, in super simple terms, a dimension or veil on top of our own, filled with a raw energy that reacts to emotion and can be channeled by skilled individuals to wield what you would call magic or supernatural powers. But it can also corrupt living beings too. Or living beings can corrupt "it" in certain cases thru their strong emotions, giving birth to abominations in the Warp. Look into it, I bet that's where they took some inspiration from.
Oh I'd LOVE to see that Limit Break video
The WoL is not the only one 8 times rejoined. G'raha is also 8 times rejoined.
I'm gonna have to double check this too but I believe we defeated Zenos with the help of dynamis as well. We don't have the blessing of light buff anymore at that fight. I believe it was named something different.
I was so happy about your wording at the end of the video because it falls in line exactly what this sparked in my mind recenly; Dynamis can shape aether. It comes from a side quest, but one npc suggest that akasa may be the cause of the power of payer. This has huge implications if he is correct. Primals are forged of aether, but aether alone isn't enough to make a primal, a pile of crystals wont suddenly turn into a being of destruction with the ability to take over minds. Prayer and belief is required to shape this aether into this beast; to make a primal. Without aether dynamis itself isnt strong enough to make the such a thing, but it could be the chisel that forms the energy into an entity!
Since dk and war abilities are at least partially rooted in emotion, then it's possible that there's a subconscious mixing of the two. Also Bard songs. And well if it's subconscious, would they notice?
Did you say theories? K. Hold my craft beer. Magical Garleans. Do NOT drop my beer! Dynamis could be used as a bridge for Garleans to manipulate aether.
Next. New jobs developed in real time. Think of a partially reformatted job crystal. Green Mage may serve well as a job developed from the use of dynamis.
I'm tempted to call Dynamis an asspull, but the Endwalker msq goes to great lengths in establishing it as an esoteric and obscure subject with (until now) very little practical application in-universe. It may very well be that it was only now first mentioned because there was never occasion to mention it before.
Is dynamis related to the dark knights power at all? both seem very tied into emotions
Your statement of the other shards being more "attuned" than the Source's denizens…It is highly speculative that the "main energy source" on how the Empty at the First would be reclaimed would be Dynamis. given how emotionally charged the events of the Eden arc was (love between two ancients, reconciliation of said ancients and moving on, forging new relationships as well), the sudden growth of plant life, nature slowly reclaiming Eden, as the entwined tree surrounding it after finishing the story arc, it would seem Dynamis is pushing the aetheric balance a bit strongly to project effects such as those, just like on your last statement of augmenting both energies to produce a much greater effect.
Also, the potential connection with the kriegstanz and totenkranz occured to me too. I'd be very disappointed if this wasn't addressed at some point.
Okay if dynamis is weaker then why is it 2/3 of our universe if it's connected to emotions and why is it so abundant if there's only small pockets of life
Something that I missed but want to point out is that jobs like Dark Knight are visibly spending and consuming Aether to power their Spells/Abilities. If they run out of Aether, they run out of Dark Magic since the Abyss is their own personal pool of aether ignited. However, what we should be considering is how Dynamis might be aiding in helping shape their dark aether into something more potent, like an amplifier or focusing lens.
dynamis as a concept was handled extremely poorly imo
Question: Woud G'raha's spirit be considered 8x rejoined, because of the 8th Calamity in his one furure where his soul resides, or would it be considered 7x because of the body?
Very pleased this sticks with the source text. Lately I keep coming across folks who can’t tell their head canon apart from what the text supports. Your approach is the best one.
To break the rule (of MSQ sourcing).
Something interesting: Urianger speculated that faith and prayer may have some ties to dynamis in the MSQ.
There’s an Aether current side quest in Labyrinthos (Gleaner’s Wish) where a Sharlayan operator gives a lantern crystal to a Viera gleaner. He asks you to pray, giving hope and good wish to the bearer of the lantern.
The researcher comments on his recent discovery of Thavnair’s theory of akasha and wonders if their custom of praying over these lanterns might be tied to it. The Ancients seem to have an atheistic society, which would make sense being such dense aetherial beings, faith is useless for them as it would have no bearing on them, since they have scarcely any dynamis to be affected by it.
In the MSQ, it is faith that is used to help control one’s dynamis by providing a centered hope in (Final Days) Thavnair. My theory is that similarly to aether having different elements of two polarities. I think dynamis/akasha also has different elements (such as hope, joy, sadness), with positive and negative polarities. The WoL showed that there can be sadness, but it doesn’t destroy. It helps connect and ground a person. Then there is the sorrow and despair of the Endsinger which causes destruction.
So…my speculation is that the Alliance raids will probably give some more information on the relationship between faith and dynamis. Probably indirectly, as the word dynamis is a recent (re)discovery.
What does this mean? Not much, but hopefully we will find out more come future patches.
Spoiler
Perhaps I'm misremembering this but wasn't Zodiarc strengthening the celestial currents. This would hold back the song of the end by drowning it out with more dense aether. Please tell me if I'm missing something here.
ARR may not be a story masterpiece but my god did it plant a lot of seeds for world building. It would be so easy for Dynamis to seem like nothing more than a convenient plot device if they hadn’t been hinting at our ability to transcend our limits since all the way back in ARR.
Something tells me manipulation of Dynamis isn't going to be a major factor moving forward, at least not until later. As you point out, the only person we know of who can reliably control Dynamis is Meteion, a prototype being manufactured from the ground up by someone with preternatural abilities in creation magic to do this task.
Tinfoil hat theorizing: The next major Dynamis users we'll encounter are the 6/14 un-rejoined fragments of Azem, or some kind of merging of them through other means. They'll also be the next big bad.
I’d love to see a video about a certain primal having tempered certain antagonists. The “Asians did nothing wrong” crowd has really latched onto some EW dialog in order to totally disregard what Emet Selch says with his own words. These folks just aren’t going to understand until it’s explained to them.
I have a feeling you aren't very happy with the inclusion of Dynamis. I'm curious what you maybe would have had instead?
