  1. A lot of people pin the blame on healers being "boring" as why people don't play them, but I think the reason is from a much more casual perspective. People get anxiety playing tanks cuz they have greater responsibility than the dps, and healers have even more responsibility than them. They have to ensure everyone is kept alive and healthy, which given how party finder tends to be, is a pretty monumental task.

In addition to the gearing issue you stated, no one wants to be locked into playing a job whose difficulty will fluctuate wildly depending on the competency of the party, especially when they might be new to healing savage.

Honestly, I don't know how you fix this issue. I think most people in general don't want to play healers simply because they want to be doing big damage numbers. Add in the anxiety of playing a job, as well as the stigma of the role being boring, and some people won't even want to bother. I know I didn't until very recently, and I honestly enjoy it a lot more than playing dps.

  2. what gray parser used yoship's very important time to ask 2ndA, PtyB, Q3? we should report him for not reading lodestone announcements and harassing a dev for repeating a question asked again and again

  3. Team Ranked PvP will only divide the PvP community even more…..dunno what the big deal is with Team Ranked, just do Customs like you usually do anyways(speaking broadly here). On another note, allowing players to queue up with friends in Casual CC is something that should be allowed.

Edit: Also, we need more PvP Oriented Dailies like Frontlines. Keep Frontlines, but then add in Casual CC Daily, and Rival Wings Daily. Rival Wings especially needs the bump in numbers, and making it a daily will surely help increase that!

Edit2: It's such a shame they flat out dropped Egi-glamour. What a waste of such a good feature imo. Guess that just pushes people more into modding!

  4. I wouldn't hate if BLM mp restoration was changed to be like how you describe, but honestly I like the way it is now. It feels slightly less…set in stone I guess? I mean rotation wise. If we had to cast a certain number of ice spells to restore MP, that might make it feel more rigid, like pretty much every other job.

  5. Can we please get kaiten back on Samurai. I'm about ready to throw out all my striking gear on my Alt if it's not restored by 6.3.

If they really want to free up hotbar space, which I remember was their excuse for removing it, just tweak the numbers and condense Shoha 1 and 2 and Hisatsu Gurren and Senei. Senei and Gurren would need their levels switched, but jesus christ, who cares? Just give us back kaiten. I dont know a single samirai main who was happy to see it go.

  6. I made a post on the official forums and have talked about it many times, but healing in FFXIV to me is fundamentally flawed as they've designed the game with the goal being to do as much damage as possible while fulfilling your role responsibilities but they've made DPSing as a healer the most boring sh*t I've ever done in a game. To me, it's not even a matter of difficulty but simply a matter of fun. The game simply has way too many healing spells that are just redundant in their effects and too few DPS spells. Given that the game is designed to start very simply and scale up in complexity over time I just feel like healers have missed this mark as all of their newer healing abilities amount to being more powerful versions of things they could already do for the most part whereas their DPS is primarily limited to one single target attack, one aoe attack, and one DoT spell paired with maybe one or two more unique abilities for each job.

The thread that I created on the forums got a TON of wonderful ideas that were far more fleshed out than my original idea but really my main idea was to tie damage into healing and healing into damage to make the role both unique and far more interesting. In basic terms, the first thing to do is to consolidate all the spells that do the same thing i.e. things like cure 1/2 or medica 1/2 should simply be abilities that upgrade as you level up. You could EASILY cut down the amount of healing spells on each job in half by doing this and then focus on creating more unique abilities that operate on the mindset that pressing your buttons improves your performance doing your job be that via DPSing to create powerful heals or healing to create more DPS. This moves us into the second step which is to give healers an ACTUAL DPS ROTATION FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! It doesn't need to be anything complicated but pressing one button over and over and over and over and over again has done nothing but rot my brain, cramp my hand, and make me simply not want to be a healer despite it being the role I first cleared ARR and Heavensward with. Even introducing a simple two or three button rotation that is NOT BROKEN BY CASTING HEALS would feel absolutely amazing with scaling potencies for combo finishers AND having doing these combos generate resources for the healer that they can use to boost their healing or do more DPS or preferably BOTH at the same time. The beautiful thing about this is that you've got 4 healers now and you could design their DPS to all work a little differently just like how the casters are all different or the melee or all different. You could have one that's very straightforward like the White Mage which does something as simple as generating lilies by completing a simple 1-2-3 combo which unlike their current iteration instead give you the ability to use something like assize that both does damage and heals the party.

The possibilities for all the jobs are vast and I fear that unless SE does something to make healers more fun to play then we'll continue to see a decline in the role. I mean, the fact that we got a new healer this expansion yet it's STILL the least played role overall is quite telling. Tanks, by comparison, had their usage spike considerably when Gunbreaker was introduced and their population is still quite high as people LOVE playing Gunbreaker because it has a fun and flashy rotation with an interesting job fantasy. For the tanks, really they need only buff Warrior up a bit so that it can compete in DPS versus Dark Knight and Gunbreaker and then rework Paladin a bit so that it can reliably burst every 60/120 seconds but at least none of the major complaints about the role are that the jobs or the ENTIRE role simply isn't fun to play.

  7. In regards to content like Ishgard restoration, I felt like rebuilding Garlemald would be a prime opportunity. It doesn't have to be a timed event like Ishgard, maybe something more along the lines of Gates of Ahn Quirah in WoW, where the server makes a joint effort to hand in ressources and it plays out like building out Revenants Toll in ARR, where it becomes bigger with each patch, though we had no hand in that, but for Garlemald those 2 could be combined.

I wouldn't tie this to a score rating and an achievement, but maybe buildings get a plaque when they are finished with a list of playernames that contributed the most to rebuilding it. Grinding Saint of the Firmament wasn't an enjoyable grind, it basically forced you to dedicate 6 days of non stop grind and ignore 90% of everything else, including RL.
I spent around 9-12hs a day on nothing but gathering and crafting for my Saints title…only interrupting it for raid nights…forcing myself to stay awake til I made up for lost time in the raid…

  8. theres enough people who just buy a house but dont do anything with it , this houses could be put in an instanced zone instead of a ward 😛 it always bugged me seeing empty houses in the wards.

  9. I wish there could be options for solo players to tackle the savage and unreal content. Some of us really don’t have the time for statics or to wade through countless PF groups.

More extremely difficult solo content in general would be awesome.

  10. I hate having to dance around the tic on BLM. It's something that exists outside the actual gameplay systems and while working through it can be fun for some I don't consider good gameplay design.

  11. I mean tbh….

A lot of us healers would be happy to do savage stuff!

If only people treated us with even the tiniest shred of decency, instead of swearing and verbally abusing us for committing the mere crime of existence .

  13. The Fat Chocob hat question was asked by a LAlafell in a Fat chocobo hat. The camera looking down at them pleading and wringing their hands was so cute that it melted everyone's hearts, especially YoshiP's heart, he just couldn't stop going "oh how adorable, how can I not listen" it was so funny
