  1. What makes Yoshi-P so great is he a fantastic project manager. I feel like he knows well what is achievable and most impactful within a given time frame and never falls into the “feature creep” trap so many developers fall into. For example and a great comparison, look into WoW’s Cataclysm Blizz-Con announcement. WoW was in a similar state after wrapping up Wrath of Lich King and promised the world for Cataclysm but ended up cutting so many planned features, disappointing fans, and set WoW (in part) down the path that led to where the game is now.

  2. Overall, it seems to be more like future proofing the game rather than a strict content update for this upcoming patch. Hopefully we'll get something about the alliance raids soon.

  3. I hear you about the exp. That's nice. But what I really want from new game+ is to be allowed to pick a different path and get the achivements from it. I want to see what it would have been like if I'd started in ul dah, and get the achivements for redoing ul dah's starting experiance. But as it stands now you can only redo the quests that you've already done, no other paths allowed.

  4. to be honest I was a little disappointed in this, don't get there was some interesting stuff announced like criterion dungeons, but there really wasn't anything announced here that couldn't have been covered in a regular live letter. people going crazy the graphics update, I'm really not that bothered about it, I don't play games for graphics and these will have no effect on gameplay, some of the best games I've played have been in 2D and there's some games with cutting edge graphics but absolutely lousy gameplay. so a graphics update is don't going to effect how good the next expansion is, it'll be the gameplay and story which determine that.

  5. Cool, I play FFXIV as solo as possible. Love that they still think of players like me. Some jobs I simply didn’t want to level with duty finder that I might want to level just for glam purposes lol.

  6. Well I had my expectations tempered and yeah I was pleasantly surprised that they're actually going to do graphical updates to the game, even if they are minor. I keep hoping they'll make it even better but it's the PS4 holding back that progression and the fact that PS5s can't get into enough actual gamers' hands

  7. This was a great summary.

Personally I feel so torn about FFXIV right now. I love everything about the game except the battle content and direction of class design. It didn't help that Yoshi-P once again dismissed healer concerns during this LL. But at the same time, while I've enjoyed other games' battle content a lot more, no other game comes close to the community of FFXIV or the way FFXIV respects players' time.

I am really looking forward to the new deep dungeon at least. And who knows, maybe PvP and criterion dungeons will be different enough to pull me back before 6.3
