I'm incredibly excited!!!!
thanks for being so informative, I've been tuning into every video after work since last year LOL
The hype is overwhelming.
we need a merger for PF across regional data centers T.T
Now, we need a Cross Region Link Shell (CRLS) with a larger number of members allowed..
Harrasemt XIV
Who does this actually benefit apart from XIV influencers wanting to engage with fans? Also this brings in more than a few nasty implications moving forward like no guarantee of common language, stable internet connections or even social etiquette. 🤷
Finally I can go check out the streamers that I always wanted to join lol
I really didn't want to start over from scratch and wanted to use my main character anyways so now I can do that!
The precedent they are setting with this isn't good. I can't imagine a world where XIV players; pampered and spoiled as they are; will accept that there are limits to Region Travel. I imagine SE will have to scrap the idea or cave in and remove the restrictions. I can only imagine the JP community sweating profusely after the insane western tourists that have been terrorising their land lately.
You shouldn't always give fans what they want, look at how homogenized every job is, there's no more meaningful choices in this RPG because fans wanted everything at once. 🙄
And the players base ask, " why there isn't extra content? Why am I paying money to play this game? Where is the extra funding going?! "
There you go, some of those funding is going to ACTUAL Cross Region Server.
If this game ended up being free to play, we would never DREAM of having Cross Region for such a huge game
I hate data center travel, Primal had a good raiding PF….completely dead after data travel was added
Oh wonderful as if cross data center travel didn’t already kill others already and not surge and now it’s going to kill data center culture too. So glad I’m quiting ff14
"Well if you were on U.S. I would have joined you."
I can hardly wait to be able to join Meoni's adventures!
I thought one of the main allures of MMOs was being able to meet people from throughout the entire world, sure it’s great to have a fast connection, being stuck with other Americans sucks a lot of whimsy and wonder from the game.
I'm curious how this would impact ingame ping?
I'm currently on JPN date centre but i'm from OCE.
Does that mean when i travel to OCE data centre my ping would be significantly lower?
This is huge news!
As an OCE player who went back to JP but still has friends on OCE, I see this as an absolute win.
Im interested what this will do the market or if sqx will restrict it. I think the japanese marketboards are way more saturated with certain items then EU for example
The Japan server is going to be probably be very upset because of how their parties will have foreigners in them. I feel like its good for all regions except japan. They already had to fight off elemental lol.
So materia gets used as a testing ground and oce players have to deal with rude a noxious foreigners messing with the way we do things.
Yep sounds about right, the only good thing from this is some oce statics on Jo and na might raid on oce. But nobody else is coming to our wasteland, why would they.
all these EU botters and hackers about to go crazy on the MB
Most JP players will put themselves on lockdown from this lol.. Any JP group I’ve played with has little to no tolerance for bs and/or bad players. (That’s not to say JP doesn’t have bad players of course) Most of them don’t like to mess around and just want focused content. Could be a culture thing or time restrictions idk.. nvm that they do raids / markers entirely different.. regardless, they usually always have enough players so this won’t impact them much after they learn how to restrict it.. I feel like EU and NA will mesh a lot better overall and I def welcome it. I more care about it for times like now when there is a single thriving DC and still a bunch of empty queues. Once DT hits this won’t be an issue for a long time but it will come around again and hopefully this makes it more manageable.. Ty for the update!
I think that it is an extremely bad idea. I don't think EU, OCE and especially JP players should be subjected to the nightmares that NA contains…
The cultural aspect of the playerbases will almost definitely be hit hard by this, and may make some newer players feel unwelcome if there's issues from people not even from their home region who might not want to learn/assimilate into the dominant culture of the region they are on.. For an example, look no further than Tonberry and Kujata in the JP DC of Elemental: Alot of Japanese players wanted to isolate and kill both of these servers off, or have them both in their own DC, due to the large amount of western players which tended to annoy the Japanese players in their own home region. Basically think of what logan paul did back in like 2017 or 2018 (He did not respect Japanese culture whatsoever, forest part aside), and you can see why the Japanese community will not like this.
[Above paragraph in short, the Japanese playerbase wanted to make the western players leave Tonberry and Kujata, two servers on the Japanese DCs, because tmk the western players were not respecting the dominant Japanese culture. Cultural and societal stuff is important, but alot of people don't seem to realise that.]
To add to the above paragraph, I imagine Japanese players aren't going to take too kindly to western trolls/weebs coming over and causing trouble either (Or American trolls in regards to Europe, especially the eastern European playerbase).. Plus the modding community will become a massive issue for those going to JP, as the Japanese community is extremely anti-modding. There WILL be more riots from the Japanese community.
While I know some people claim that there are a few benefits, imo the bad heavily outweighs the good. A comparison would be like weighing a coin against something like a blue whale (Weird analogy but still, you get the point).
Time to take my band on tour! 🤩
Personal opinion: JP –> NA + EU. NA + EU =/= JP. Like a one-way valve. If Japanese gamer bros want to visit hedonistic Balmung more power to 'em. But Balmung invading JP servers? Whew… that'd be … unsettling to say the least.
