FFXIV is different. Here's why:

Final Fantasy XIV is different than other MMO’s, and this video is my take on why that is.

  1. I been saying the same thing. FFXIV players are happy because they don't feel like they are feeling forced to log in. They log in because they want to log in. (Unless you own a private house). So the people playing are generally more positive.

  2. Really good video, mate.

Particularly enjoyed how you reminisce about old adventures during your MMO life; we all have those times; maybe in different games, maybe the same.. but, all MMO players have our cherished memories.

    I've subbed to your channel.

    Take care.

  3. I've never played an MMO in my life before FFXIV. I've been an avid gamer for nearly 30 years but always avoided the genre because it seemed overwhelming and too disrespectful of your time. With the recent FF boom I decided to give it a try… and before I knew it I'm a level 52 Dragoon wearing this sick blue armor with only one magical crack rock left to collect and I'm having an absolute blast. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming and the fun just ramps up. I get it now.

  4. For me the best part is that this game is not "second job" type of game. I have children, second on the way and I really don't feel that I miss something after 2-3 days break. What is funny: hardcore players still have plenty things to do. This game is just for everybody.

  5. I 100% agree with your last point on toxicity, players behaviour is deeply influenced by the game environnment and philosophy? Thats not the opposite, so few ppl are truely toxic by nature, its mainly due to things like frustration.

  6. FFXIV is such a cozy place to be in, with such a depth of projects you always have on the go. It’s not just a endless grind at endgame with your work erased in a few months, the entire thing is set up to go back to do everything you missed anytime you want. I love that about it. All the work I put in keeps stacking on itself instead of constantly disappearing. It feels so rewarding, the RPG heart ❤️ is still there.

  7. This guy really made a video where he jus rephrased everything other YTers have said over the past couple of weeks. This mooching trend is so tired right now. All over YT, in many categories. Stop trying to build your fame on the backs of others.

  8. Really nice video ! The thing that FF XIV did to start the 2.0 version is "Hey guys, our game isn't that good, let's put a story that would destroy the game story to start a whole new 2.0" is really awesome ! What is the name of the outro song btw ? I know it's from FF but can't find it… Thank you !

  9. Excellent point on the game influencing how the players behave. Asmongold made a similar point about how the story is more about giving people a chance to redeem themselves, and of course there is not that innate player faction conflict of WoW. I would also add that there is very much a community feedback loop reforcing this. A new player will generally reflect what they experience (unless its so bad that they just stop playing) in how they will behave towards even newer players and the rest of the playerbase.

Though I wouldn't entirely put the differences down to the game itself, at least not entirely. Just that people who are looking for either type of community will be attracted to, and stick with, the game that has it. For example, open world PVP in WoW will just naturally promote a more hostile community and yet at the same time it can also strengthen the bonds with players on the same team.

  10. I played a lot of Guild Wars growing up. That's the bar MMOs set for me. A focus on story and player agency in what's happening. Then I tried WoW, and it was not at all like that. To me, it was bland and boring and everything felt like you were fighting with the game or players to get the result you wanted. So, I played it for two weeks and never picked it up again. And then after high school, I stopped playing Guild Wars too. With the release of the second game, I lost interest. It didn't feel like it had much of that focus I liked anymore, and was leaning more into the WoW model of things.

Then, five months ago, I started playing FFXIV, and I was absolutely blown away. This game is everything and more of what I was looking for in an MMO experience: story that was engaging, quests that didn't just feel like a boring slog (though, yeah, ARR could be a bit rough at times), and a dynamic within multi player activities that wasn't intimidating. Every hour I have put into this game has been 100% worth it, and an absolute joy, and if it even interests you a little bit you should give the game a shot.

  12. But XIV does time lockouts, and also does mindnumbing grinds to pad their content, a lot of them. Including titles, achivements, mounts abd gear you wont have the chance to get because you didnt play when they (devs) told you to.

The diference is in your attitude.

Also there is no player housing: there is RNG bad idea obtuse prideful designer housing.

I love this influx of new players and also "closet FFXIV" players on youtube, like the game is NOW worth playing.

  13. a good example of this is the treasure hunt quest you get aftr lvl 50 and it sends you on this crazy scavenger hunt and youre expecting a great reward and in the end you get no reward but the experience of doing the quest

  14. Cus its slow, boring, padded and without real endgame and content that grows to be a social hub for people to chat all day, do roulette on linear dungeons and spread the word of the holy cult.
WoW is full of bugs, Blizzard is shit but at least WoW lets me to do ALL quests in a party and is MMORPG first.
FF14 is the worst FF to date.

  15. When you said Burning Blade, you nearly brought tears of joy to my expression. I was on Burning Blade US for years from BC to MoP. By the time MoP was nearly finished I transferred because the realm was a husk of its former self. It seemed to be a strong server too, but the changes in the game made during Cata was the beginning of the end for Burning Blade.

  16. closing statement- agreed 100%. funny thing is both yourself and many others point out the same issues with wow and actiblizz wont listen. they literally have free, valuable advice from their customers that they ignore over short term revenue goals. its an absolutely dogshit company that reflects the worst in capitalism
