  1. Dare I even say FF as a franchise is amazing when it comes to cutscenes/cinematic.
One of the thing that make me fell in love with the series even more when I watched them on FFIX.

  2. The only one thing that disapointed me on that cinematic is that, after doing so much to get help from the people of the Stepe, they only bring FIVE guys on birds. Only five.

At least try putting ten and use some tricks to make belive there is even more if the problem is the rendering of so many characters or something… but only seeing 5 flying units was so underwelming as an "army" 🙁

  3. I mean no shit. FF is built on the story while WoW is more built on good gameplay and a package MMO. It'd be stupid if a 2013 game has worse cinematics than a 2003 game. I thought Pyro more objective than this.

  4. Big part of why they are so superior is: In FFXIV your character actually does something in them.
It actually lets you feel like you are part of the main cast and on top of that, they show that your character is very capable.

WoW Cinematics, if they show the player character at all, make them feel like a random extra in a Movie. They also make you look rather incompetent and/or weak.
Yeah sure, they try to sell you as that hero who did this and that while questing, but Cutscene roles and your character falls for the same dumb trick by Villain X for the 100th time or so.

This is coming from someone who played since TBC until Shadowlands, so i've pretty much seen it all.
One of the things that shocked me the most when i started FFXIV is how much focus was on my character, and it went up by 11 in Heavensward. And how outright badass my Character is during the Story. After over a Decade of my Character being treated like an incompetend extra, despite all he achieved, this was quite mindblowing.

  5. XIV: “Oh, you’re an MMORPG, alright. Just got a good one.”

    WoW: “Yeah, what’s the difference?”

XIV: “PRESENTATION! Also, our devs actually play the game and care about the players!”

  6. Only other mmo with better cinematics is Swtor. It has the quality of presentation of old Bioware. Unfortunately the writing leaves much to be desired compared to FFXIV. And I say this as someone who's favourite games include Kotor 1 and 2 and absolutely love the old republic era.

The story (some class stories from lvl 1-50 aren't good though) is a lot of fun though. Too bad it's not a good mmo and has one of the worst f2p models ever.

I love how it's fully voiced. I think SE should give their team some more money for voice acting.

  7. Wow's in game cinematics is just using whatever in game character mechanics that's already there. While FFXIV's in game cinematics has added movements and actions. Like if they are riding a mount, they don't just use generic movements, they add in additional movements, this makes it feels more immersive.

  8. All i seeis WoW players saying FFXIV is this and that. Just my 2 cents what attracted me to ffxiv is the similarity in Guild Wars 1 yeah it exist and while WoW was on the very top of gaming of mmo in 2005 i was playing Guild Wars 1 the story is amazing and pvp too. That is why when i tried FFXIV i was oh shit this has similarity to the original game that i played back then.

  9. ehhh, FF14 has a lot of "people talk at you while you nod like a bobblehead doll" AND Praetorium still exists, so I'd say FF14 has higher highs and lower lows for ingame cinematics.

  10. I like how The WOW team just spoiled their entire new patch for the players… They have no faith, absolutely NO faith in their players to understand a story as it's paid out to them without the story writers spoon feeding it to them… That's at least half their fault of course, and the other half most (most not all) WOW players wanting to play the Micheal Bay of MMO's…

Can you IMAGINE Yoshi coming onto a live letter and telling the fans how and why we are going to the moon?

  11. Agree the in game ones are a lot better but the games are structured differently. FF is a story heavy jrpg with a ton of them in every expansion and it’s the main way they tell the story. WoW drops one now and again, and so they don’t seem to have invested so much in it. Like he said, Blizzards thing is the big CGI cinematic stuff.

  12. They got a lot better within the expansions, the ones at the bese game are not that good, but still nice. I miss the 1.0 cinematics, they were cool too, super overwhelming for most ocs at the time, but super cool either.

  13. Anyone know of the cinematic where alexstraza and deathwing fight each other?
They just have a model of the 2 latched upon each other that they rotate and completely clip through a mountain before the model disappears and suddenly deathwing stands atop a defeated alexstraza.
Honestly one of the funniest parts of WoW that I have huge appreciation for, similar to my appreciation for the room.

EDIT: got ysera and alexstraza confused, fixed now.
