  2. Not everyone gets snapshotted at the same time for stuff, stuff like raidwides that are meant to hit everyone at the same time have different snapshots that are normally calculated from how close you are to the boss, in other words, the further away you are from the source of the damage and the more people that are in the middle, the longer it will take for the damage to hit you, a good example would be in a boss in Syrcus tower when it does a raidwide and you can literally see how everyone gets hit at different times despite the fact that it was simply a raidwide.

Another good example of this is just when people die to a extreme/savage/ultimate enrage yet get to kill the boss at the last second and only some people die, because they got snapshotted but not the others.

Worth pointing out this is how everything works, the same stuff applies to abilities from the players, both offensive and healing abilities, so if you are in a situation where theres a lot of damage going out and healers are just spamming heals, it may be a good idea to stand as close to the healers as possible so the heals snapshot faster (at the same time, snapshots are inconsistent, for example, i've had many times on ultimates when a whm is spamming cure 3, EVERYONE gets healed except the whm and they die because of that)

"LB" was too early, and the effect of "LB" expired before the attack decision began to take place. The remaining two tanks, one healer, and a dragon knight will be hit before the effect disappears. So they survived. It seems so.

  4. I'm just going to assume the PLD's wings managed to save you since you stood closer.
I've come to notice the closer you are to certain heals, shields and the likes, the more potency.
I could be wrong though but that's what I've experienced.

  5. For the people wondering how this happened, it is because how AoE heals/shields/attacks work in FFXIV. They are not applied/cleaned at the same time for the 8 party members. These AoE effects are propagated like a wave. First one player then immediately the second, then the third… until the last one. So here we have a combination of players receiving the tank LB effect last and the LB4 attack also last, so when the attack registers, these players still have the LB effect and survive.

  6. If you pay attention on the party buffs at 0:04 you will see that the tank LB3 buff is applied in a different frame for each party member, the ones that survived were the ones that received it later.
This is basically how things works in FFXIV, through server ticks.

  7. Doing the Final Day trial, the tank Lb3 went out too early (after a wipe the first time because it did not go out at all because new tanks that didn't know and no one said anything)–but SOMEHOW the sage healer survived it (with a full health bar, no less). I have no idea how that happened–I am sure the player knew something about the mechanics (because he moved away from everyone while the Ultimate was going off). Saved us from having to do it all again. Yay! It's an amazing fight, but one I will not willingly do again lol.
