  1. He called me powerful hehe I still love these relics to this day and am now forcing myself to do all the eureka weapons, almost SOLO as well due to me being on Tonberry and being an EU player. the times I play the game is almost dead but I so enjoy these grinds… No raid or any content will ever outmatch the love I have for ARR and SB relics. Love the vid my dude ♥ ( he says while painfully farming mobs on pyros alone x.x )

  2. I feel like some of the context on Atma and Animus being such horrid steps is lost these days.
Those relic steps were released very close to an item level increase– that's right, Atma and Animus both released on patch 2.2…
So everyone felt like they *HAD* to do these relic weapons, to have a nice i100 weapon for raiding instead of the i95 leviathan extreme or T5 weapons. Well, maybe not everyone, but it was definitely part of what put me off the relic grind initially.

  3. At the time I spent 2 days for an atma. Funnily enough the book grind didn't feel so bad after the atma pain, but then the materia melding, at a time materia weren't as accessible and you could pay 200k for a materia IV… I finally gave up at the light, such tedious gring by killing the same boss again and again no ty

  4. "Imagine running Aurum Vale 200 times"
haha, I ran Aurum Vale maybe 100-150 times to farm mogtomes. Sometimes with BLU friends, but typically just in duty finder. Levelled my WHM from mid 50 to mid 70 via Aurum Vale. Eventually it became fun, probably the stockholm syndrome.

  5. I started the zodiac relic weapons soon after I reached Lv 80 before EW dropped, so 80 was max at the time…..

Casually farming, I'm now at the "light-farming" step.

The worst was the Alexandrite farming….. because I realized, AFTER obtaining the first 20 alexandrite from farming FATES!!!!, I discovered you could buy 5 alexandrite for 75 total tomestones of poetics each… which blew me away cuz by now SwB endgame, you could easily cap your tomestones to 2k…. I finished the rest of the Alexandrite grind in about an hr or so compared to going on weeks to get the first 20……

but like the maniac I've become, I'm still planning to do the entire relic weapons from all past expansions….

  6. Ahh…. the zodiac relics. Can't forget those! Not after…:
Spending many hours in S.Thanalan for Atma (the worst for me)
Doing the many steps in the books, the waiting for Fates in particular
Spending a stupid amount of gil on materia…
Doing so many dungeons for there drop, being an extremely low drop rate then
    75 maps, 1 alexandrite!
Light grinds, took forever for me
Being confused on what stats to choose

All this was for Black Mage btw
And to this day, I still have Paladin, Monk, and Dragoon to finish up, lol

  7. You know, I found it super odd in this game that they added relics the way they did. I mean, FFXIV was known for its casual/healthier progression to get you to try out other fun systems. And there was this bit of… "content" which stood as the mf antithesis of what the whole game's design philosphy.

  8. never have i felt such fear from the phrase "nexus light farming"

i remember the shout arguments ppl had that when odin spawned, the fate drop increased for his fate and also for behemoth, it was insane!! this was before world travel too lol

also i distinctly remember that u had a specific fate in books as well and shouts for "omw to <fate>" were very common

  9. i remember dragging an FC member through this the day before HW we got it for them at like 4:30 in the morning or so 30 mins before the servers went down for HW… thanks for bringing long repressed painful memories back ;_;

  10. I think I only ever made one fully completed relic weapon in ARR in the end. I remember doing Moogle EX and I think garuda hard mode in particular on the rotation for my light farm. I think the reason I barely remember the Zodiac farm was to bleach it from my memory.

  11. Geez, watching this makes me glad I wasn't playing the game back in the day. I got burned out just on trying to finish the Anima weapon not long ago so I never would have made it through all of that nonsense.

  12. I think you forgot to mention this parchment thingy where you have to attach certain materia to… Its a step or two after the Atma farm… and after the books, and after the treasure map thing. I just cant figure it out…

  13. Completely glossed over how painful getting even Zenith (or +1 at the time) was! Titan Hard Mode with the severe latency of early ARR, solo tank (almost always a paladin, sorry warriors), and still not even a sure win was certainly something.

  14. If you still wanna do ARR Relic in Endwalker, forewarning here: It will STILL drain your Gils.
I still had to spend probably 2 mil at least, just for getting one ARR Relic to max. This is NOT including the necessary poetics and GC Seals for some items.

  15. Despite how painful this can be, I kind of hate the new relic progression, I just finished my ARR whm relic and almost done with my heavensward one and I like that, for the most part you can do it solo and don’t rely on the popularity of content also the designs were just better in the past
