Would add a few things from this:
1) Maxing your Grand Companies (and, in turn, Command and Squadron missions)
2) Blue Mage things (Spell Acquisition and Masked Carnival)
3) Mounts (from Extreme trials) and Achievement Hunting (particularly ones that have additional rewards like Titles, Mounts, Minions, etc.)

I was a former free trial player for 8 months before subbing for the story!
I highly recommend that you do atleast one Zodiac weapon as a free trial player. This way you'll have a goal as to why you need every single crafter/gatherer job at 50+.
It takes a lot more effort yes, but the result is quite worth it!

UPDATE: For the Crafter/Gatherer segment, Yellow Scrips are NO LONGER AVAILABLE! As of 6.0, Yellow Scrips are replaced by WHITE SCRIPS~
Jesus I'm 300 hours in to my free trial and just found out I can join Party Finder. I've been doing S rank hunts asking for invites for no reason. XD

Sadly my love for SAM got the best of me. Prob in 5 years they will add Stormblood to free trials
Played on and off but they disabled duty finder completely for free trial now, so it's worse.
