  1. Swiftcast being a DPS gain is a strong argument during dungeon pulls. Casters that aren't SMN, SCH and SGE don't have strong AOE spells that are instant cast, and dealing damage during the pull is only bad if the tank is pulling raw without doing any attacks, which is honestly the tanks fault imo.

  2. Summoners kind of have an AoE problem before lvl 90 due to Ifrit-Egi and Titan-Egi's AoEs being a bit wonky. You'd think they would hit everything in front of them, or at least around the egis themselves. It's… weird. Sometime it does hits around them, lots of times it hits behind them?! Like I said, it's weird. Best thing to do is to try to make them go for the enemy that's the furthest away in the pack. If it was up to me I would change those to a frontal cone attack, but maybe there's some programing stuff that prevents them from working properly?

  3. the amount of BLMs i see casting only ice magic is way more than i would like. and i dont think it really explains anywhere that more stacks of astral fire gives more damage? and if it does it was probably in that single tool tip about job gauges that no one ever reads

  4. Imma follow my master piccolo advice.

    DODGE!!!!

Maybe I won't be the tip top of dps, but awkwardly dodging mechanics means I get to still dps by being alive, as being dead means I have 0 dps. Anyways that artillery comment makes me wanna play an rts or advance wars and mess around with siege weapons / artillery.

  5. Interesting, I'll keep that in mind when I start leveling my black mage again. At the moment I'm working on getting dancer to 90 so I atleast have 1 of each role type at max level. And ranged physical dps is the last I need,

  6. Knockback AOEs centered on the boss (like those in Emanation as well as in a couple of the Omega raids) are another reason not to stand too far away from the boss. If you stay too far from the boss when they use this knockback, you will get knocked off the edge. (This goes for healers and any ranged role in general, too.)

  7. Speaking as an occasional healer, I'm not insulted if you dodge my aoe heals but I'm not gonna lose damage to single-target heal you unless you're about to die. Hope you're not afraid of healing through natural regen for the next 5 minutes 😛

  8. I think one mistake I'd point out, at least for BLM, is: Not prepositioning. If you are not prepositioning for mechanics, you are going to lose up time. BLM more than the other casters benefits from prepositioning, and it does take time to learn how to do it (via observing boss animation tells, reading cast bars, etc.), but it is so important.

  9. I used to prime every dualcast on red mage with jolt, even on aoe pulls, because I didn't realize the attack rotation was flipped for the aoe spells. Didn't even map shatter because I didn't know what it was for. Lost so much dps doing that. Not paying attention to how your spells work can definitely be a real issue lol
