  1. FFXIV is the reason why making a”new” experience every time becomes an utter failure. Heavensward is THE STANDARD that XIV should have gone by, but instead it has failed to reach said standard after the end of Stormblood’s Main Story.

    FFXI is the reason why a simple update of backend system is what is necessary for the game to run more efficiently in modern systems; HOWEVER, there is at least a DECADE’S worth of technical debt that must be paid BEFORE going forward. I wish Mr. Fujito much luck in paying off this debt.

  2. I am on the remake or spiritual successor bandwagon. Game too big to update and then you run into the possibility alot of new players who grew up on action are not into it. Would hope buy to play and do dlc like ESO, can throw in cosmetic QOL micros as long as not too crazy on it.
    New graphics, models, environments, maybe an styled artstyle, new UI, subjobs, trusts, but core gameplay and theme intact.

  3. As much as I loved ffxi, it's time to move on to another mmo. Plus it would attract alot more ppl with a brand new mmo. Maybe a take a little inspiration from it and modernize it a bit

  4. I would love to see a successor to FFXI with some of the QOL changes that FFXIV has. Better customization and glamor options. Faster combat but not to the point where it's completely an ARPG. And as much as I LOVE the MSQ, I feel like the next MMORPG needs to have less of an emphasis on the story. The MSQ is the biggest detractor when it comes to the new player experience. I really think the exploration and world building aspect needs to be the biggest focus for the next MMO as well.

    I played FFXI back in 2009-2010. I can see the appeal but damn, the game was a pain in the ass sometimes. If SE could just hit that fine line between mid-core and stupid difficult, they could have something in my opinion.

  5. There can be a new Final Fantasy MMO, just no Final Fantasy MMORPG. I dunno, a Final Fantasy tactics MMO? Action battle MMO? A strategy game MMO? Maybe, get creative. But players have no reason to willingly wanting to leave FFXI and/or FFXIV for another almost the same game. FFXI player are so dedicated that the don't wanna move to FFXIV so let alone another MMORPG.

    I am an Old Geezer Fan I guess. I grew up with FF7 to FF10 But I think and Final Fantasy MMO with a more action battle system can work, maybe even better then in FFXVI. In an MMO setting, you are playing one character, you don't have party members to control because your fellow players are your party members.

    I would say: make FFXIV season 2 (the next storyline/coming 10 years) into the spiritual successor of FFXI bringing those two communities together, make a separated action battle MMO beside it to attract the new folks and transform FFXI into a dedicated multiplayer game where people can host their own server or do peer to peer connection.

    Don't pull the plug as it kinda weird that you can't play a main line FF game anymore. But put the agency in the fans hands. Imagine some one going Ï will play all final fantasy games going through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 12, 13, 13-2, 13-3, 15, 16. People will think "what the hell were they up to in the 2000's. 10-2? you mean 11?"Nhaa that just doesn't exist anymore. Also game preservation is important.

  6. The idea of a new FF online would need to be one that doesn't compete with the current (FFXIV), maybe go more openworld, sandbox action, instead of tab targeting. You dont wanna cannibalize your current player base, you wanna gain new player base.
