  1. I think this is healthy – to "log" your thoughts on a specific job, or certain reveal from developers that you could then look back at and check how right/wrong you've been in your interpretation.. I've done that for WoW in the past a lot, and now find myself enjoying video narratives structured similarly to yours, as that's the kind of content I'd choose to watch and produce myself 👍

  2. Hi Brian sorry for long post but I want to share my thoughts on what I saw and thoughts on Egi Glamour as well.

The Egis are not being removed from what is shown in the Benchmark, from what I can see it seems the Egi Assaults are being applied to the SMN. My guess its a trait that allows us to preform the selfsame action along side the Egi (I tried seeing if Ifrit did its animation for Egi Assault I but due to the editing its not that clear but after the explosion it does look like Ifrit-egi is in the end animation for Assault I as it is in a more horizonal position than the default auto attack [Pause as soon as you open(https://youtu.be/IkC1r0eJZ-c?t=327) and you will see ifrit in the shape of '>' where the SMN arm is] also the Pet does not disappear or go away). For those that don't know, the "Egi Assault I" for Ifrit is Crimson Cyclone (The Primal Ifrit does uses this as his Dash Attack, while the Egi does similar dash but in corkscrews in a few inches then moves back). This Trait may need apply to all Egi Assaults since due to Titan's Assault I being a shield (A Non-Titan ability Earthen Armor), while Assault II is the iconic Mountain Buster (food for thought on what that could be). However this does bring up a small concern with the dash specifically, as shown we move through the target, think Cloud of Darkness Tile Phase, it would not be ideal to step into instant death, or go over an open pit so I am eager to see how Square will work with this specifically. Also if this is paired with the Egi Assaults how many times can it effect the SMN uses (example doing 2 dashes back to back, or changing the Egi Assault to a 1 time action on the GCD but getting 2 Ruin IV Stacks for it).

As for the Egi – Glamour, imo, the team sort of wrote themselves into a hole. Lore wise we have to fight the Egi to tame it. Meaning it would require the Battle Team to build a fight around unlocking the remaining Primals, the Animation + Design Team to bring the Egi to life(attacks/movements/skeleton), Graphics team for the Spell effects and Glows, and the UI team for the Variant Debuffs based on which primal is out (Ifrit's Inferno dot to say for example Leviathan's Tsunami equivalent). This is why the development team may not really be eager to work on more egi's outside of the Demi's or more carbuncles(since well Arcanist recolor skins). I know people say Ramuh/Sephirot design is done, but outside of that we don't know if the other teams have worked on the content. I can easily see Ramuh being the Garuda swap, and Sephirot for Titan as the fit the caster/tank pet well. Would I like to see more egis, yes, but have them be more or less be clones falling into the role of Melee/Caster/Shield respectively with the exact same type of action used (cone/aoe/ect), rather than new mechanic egi like the Demi's.

  3. I might get slated here but the demonology warlock in wow would be a interesting way for the summoner to go so it would give all the other primals a place cause who wouldn't want your dot to be summoning ramuh for example

  4. I personally have always wanted moves that take no the power of the summon where a summon happens, you do a move, and that summon disappears. If ifrit is there, it's really hard to see. I hope they are moving toward that kind of system where we can see moves from other primals.

  5. Yeah. Its not terrible in shadowbringers, but it feels too ridgid compared to the past iterations. I hope the changes will be interesting and being more free form to the job. The changes would dictate if I my main caster will be rdm or smn.

  6. i slowed down your video while you was on slow, managed to slow it down further, summoner, starts to dash then transforms into phoenix just before passing through the enemy at the end unclear if on contact with ifrit he does AOE or he just AOE as the transition of phoenix end cycle, personally, to lose both phoenix and bahamut would feel like just another magic user and not something individual to the job, best reform would be to reduce the size of both bahamut and phoenix to a smaller size like ifrit size

  7. I would like to see a shift closer to the Final Fantasy Tactics Summoner where maybe you build to a summons that creates a massive battlefield effect, but summoning becomes the "gasp of awe" moment during the rotation of dots and dd's.

  8. love the Smn (Blm/ Smn main), omg will go nuts if Smn gets a gap closer! :D..

(slight off topic, loved the benchmark video.., just the area the mounts were flying in seemed a bit off, … wierd colours & colour contrast of the mountains & land somehow…, didn't seem cool.. but like crayon colours hope Yoshi adjusts the look of that area a bit.., all areas in Shadowbringers looked really gud (!), colour & contrast-wise)

  9. My gut is telling me that the charge is just egi assault as a spell. It looks too much like Crimson Cyclone to me. We'll probably still have 2 egi assults, but instead of being pet commands they're actually spells, and instead of charges, they'll be gcd cooldowns with each potentially giving 2 charges of further ruin. That way we have a gap closer and no longer having a way of ghosting actions before Bahamut or Phoenix. I could see Enkindle and Devotion getting the same treatment. Egis are still important since it dictates what spells you can cast, but you no longer have pet commands that aren't responsive.

  10. It seams like the summoner is, essentially, going to be able to go through each summon and allow it to morph its skills on the fly. Each one brings different utility to the table. At least, that's how it should be. XD

  11. One of the reasons why I don't like SMN, or at least why it doesn't feel right to me, is that the minion's attacks aren't oGCD. It seems like they would be. Why wouldn't Ifrit be clawing the enemies face while you're casting ruin? Why does your summoner have to dedicate all their focus to being like "Ok Ifrit, NOW you can attack". Just feels uncomfortable and weird to play, like I have too many spells and not enough time to cast them.

  12. I really feel that there being egis in the benchmark doesnt mean that egis are/arent being removed for 2 major reasons. 1, its a benchmark so they do things in it to trick us or jebait us, theyve done it before and will do it again. 2, and this one is far more relevant, Endwalker wont be out till late November and this was dropped mid July so this is a very very early build that they used for the benchmark, things can and will change by the time we get to November. Theres at minimum 3 months of dev time till they need to be in a final version that can be shipped out so just because egis are here doesnt mean they arent getting removed, and again they could very well still be in the game when we get Endwalker. We just gotta wait and see what happens to it.

  13. i’m not sure if Ifrit disappeared after the explosion or if he was repositioned either behind the Summoner or out of camera view. so i think there’s a possibility that it could be a damaging ability that also repositions your Egi.
and i saw another comment mentioning how Garuda could possibly pull the Summoner away instead of towards the enemy, which would be kind of cool, sort of like a self Rescue.
either way, cant wait to hear more info about how the Summoner changes

  14. You make an interesting observation in regards to Summoner becoming/Gaining abilities from their Egi.
It makes me wonder if similar will apply to Scholar as well, either as an Emergency OGCD AoE Heal (But we have Indomitability for that), or a OGCD Burst AoE DPS.

  15. I ran the FFXIV Endwalker benchmark, and this is what I got:

    FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker Benchmark

    Tested on: 7/12/2021 14:56:35

    Score: 9894

    Average Frame Rate: 72.11436

    Minimum Frame Rate: 32

    Performance: High

-Easily capable of running the game. Should perform well, even at higher resolutions.

    And my PC:
    System

    Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (ver.10.0.19042 Build 19042)

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz

    16301.113MB

    Radeon RX 580 Series(VRAM 8171 MB)

I wonder how can I record my benchmark while it's playing, for I'd like to upload to my youtube channel. On the other hand, how can I improve my PC (see my system above), for I got better scores while running FFXIV ShB benchmark? See ShB benchmark here:

    FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers Benchmark

    Tested on: 7/10/2021 11:24:30

    Score: 9448

    Average Frame Rate: 68.51428

    Minimum Frame Rate: 28

    Performance: Extremely High

-Easily capable of running the game on the highest settings.

Is it that Endwalker is more demanding than Shadowbringers on my PC hardware? Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

  16. I would love to see new egi glams but I know it won’t happen! I would die if I could turn the egis into Ramuh, Levi, Shiva and each still sticking to the ST, AoE, and Survival/tanky abilities

  17. I would love to see more summons. FF14 summoner should have at least the same amount as FF11s summoner had 19 years ago.
    MMos with pets classes.
WoW 2004 had Ranger, Warlock and Mage
EQ 1999 magician or necromancer, Beastlord, Shadowknight and Enchanter
EQ2 2004 Illusionist, Coercer, Conjurer, Necromancer, Beastlord and Channeler
Guildwars 2 2007 Necromancer and Ranger
Final Fantasy 11 2002 Beastmaster, Pupetmaster, Dragoon and Summoner
These are just a few MMos with pet classes at least 14 years before Final Fantasy 14 came out.

  18. I just hope they make the focus summoning, like the new attack was cool but seeing the nornal ruin animation has me a little concerned. I do not understand having a summonee job but the main spammables and damage do not come from summons outside of the Bahamut/Phoenix burst phases. I really hope they at least change ruin and the DoTs to have egis appear to cast them just for at least the illusion of more summoning.
Kinda similar concern for bard as we just see more arrows when the job is called bard not ranger, we need more of a song focus IMO. Just glad all the other jobs look hype for me but those 2 I'm still holding out before I let myself get hype.

  19. the only change I rly rly want is pets becoming an ogcd. our rotation would be SO much faster

but i guess if we’re talking bigger summons, it’d be interesting if each egi enabled a different primal summon along w the universal bahamut/phoenix

I’m SO excited for that dash attack to fill the void of arms length

  20. I second your statement about feeling more connected to other jobs than smn in ShB. I loved Smn in Stormblood but it went away with the realease of ShB. After the adjustments smn for me was playable again but I didn't feel the same love for it like I used to.

  21. So I would think titan would be more defensive abilities, Garuda would be more AoE abilities, and ifrit could be more single targeted, all off the GCD, and change up rotation while at it. Also we should get more abilities from Bahamut once he was summoned I mean we get Ahk mon why not a mega flare? I also feel we should get more abilities from Phoenix as well. But hey that’s just my opinion. We will see which way they take it in September hopefully.
