The music turning to a more triumphant melody at around 41:35 was such an amazing touch. The main player has returned, the heroes are reunited, and it's time to turn the tide.
During the thou must live, die and know cutscenes, I had no words to describe how I felt about this. At the end of the cutscene, I got off of my chair and walked around for a little bit, and then I sat on the couch and took deep breaths.
Even after all this time I still remember that moment after THE CUTSCENE when that last little bit fell into place and I realized that this was all actually a time loop and a huge gamble by Venat on the potential of humanity. I still can't get over the fact that in one expansion I completely changed how I see Hydaelyn to the point that I don't even call her that anymore because she IS Venat.
I assume you guessed it / figured it out, but during Venat's walk in nothingness, when she was getting "hit" and covered it tar, it's supposed to represent blood, but if they wanted the game to keep it's T rating, they couldn't display THAT much blood, so they went with an abstract "black tar thing" instead.
Imagining Venat, literally covered in blood, staring at us with her bright blue eyes, at the end of her cutscene, gives so much more chills :V
Allisae: Zenos!
Zenos: . . .
Allisae: Bitch.
"Henceforth… he shall walk."
Never before have I heard a video game quote that sounded so… biblical!
"Estinien, bruh, you will not BELIEVE what I found out just now."
I've come to realize Estinien is literally the Piccolo of the Scions in almost every way xD
Zenos in this scene is the embodiment of both "Worst person you know has a point" and "found the right answer in the worst way"
And I love him for it so much
Alisaie punching below the belt on Zenos there. Admittedly the size difference makes it necessary.
(plz YoshiP let RDM use her Crimson Savior ability and all the other rose flourish attacks, give the Utena fans what they want)
Well, finally, the 'Elpilogue'.
When we first heard that voice, accompanying the vision of the moon, after we beat Zodiark, I thought 'don't tell me, Hydaelyn's gonna be corrupted by someone/something'. Upon seeing the 'Elpilogue', though, I knew better – in more ways than one. Not only did we know it was Meteion, but we also got to see just how committed Venat – and by extension, Hydaelyn – truly was to her chosen path.
I will say, however, that after all that happened in Elpis, it felt… weird, almost 'pedestrian', even, to go back to Garlemald and fight the fiends of the Final Days. Literal apocalypse comes to Garlemald, and I thought 'this pales in comparison to what I've just experienced'.
As heartwrenching as it was seeing the Final Days hit Amaurot, one detail I love is Hyth's expressions. When he's facing Hades, he's his usual cheerful self. But as he turns away, his face shifts into fear, sorrow, guilt, and resignation. He doesn't want to leave his friends, not like this. Not when they all promised to return to the star together. But at the same time, he's aware of his limitations, so he feels like sacrificing himself is the only way he can be useful in this situation.
No matter how often I watch that Venat scene the impact never dulls.
Is there any ff14 husbando you ladies DONT have a crush on?
"His best most annoying friend…" Emet is all "Oh great, now there's TWO of them."
Elpis Venat cutscene is my favorite gaming cutscene of all time. It makes you question your life. It's about accepting hard times, suffering, death, and live with it… Because that's what life is and the only way you can make it through life. I cry hard every time.
42:23
That awkward moment when Estinien joins the fight by yeeting the boss at you.
I'm mean answers was written back in 1.0 so I doubt it had to do anything with ascians
You had a pretty good idea as to what it meant but guess they wanted to give us a solid answer
Zeros spiten out truths here
~Thou must Weep, Cry and Bawl~
Oh you did the two cutscenes I was waiting for in the same video… Well cracks her knuckles Then it's time I start writing my FUCKING book then on my thoughts of these two cutscenes.
First off we'll talk about my favorite XIV/Endwalker cutscene. The sundering and Hydaelin/Venat long march through time. This broke me I still even to this day can't hear Answers and not start crying my tiny little eyes out… so I've stopped listening to it when I'm like on the bus or whatever cause you know… weird girl in the back just started sobbing her eyes out that's strange -_-.
But yes her tale was a tragedy that only kind of gets worst since we as an audience began wondering if she was secretly evil. Which boy do those thoughts hurt more now knowing she made the greatest sacrifice since her peers REFUSED to learn their lesson. But then who doesn't want to live in paradise. To be happy and free. To live a life were suffering doesn't exist. However as she said suffering has always existed we've just been lucky enough to be able to turn a blind eye to it. No longer though and no we can't just pretend that it doesn't exist and no sacrificing EVEN more people isn't going to fix the problem. So she made the hard decision of forever villainizing herself in not just the eyes of her people but her closest friends. We know for a fact that Azem us did not support her plan. I think it's safe to assume that they ended on quite poor terms assuming of course they ever spoke to each other again after the events at Elpis as well as the fact that even to this day Hades/Emet-Selch HAS NOT forgiven her.
Right with all that said lets move onto my favorite Final Fantasy cutscene… it's different cause it's not limited to XIV. I use that a lot to explain my relationship with Zenos… ANYWAYS
I love him so dearly. He is a monster but fuck do I not find myself agreeing with every word out of his mouth here. Would all of the horror's he had committed been better if his end goal was I dunno to make Garlmald the premier empire of the world? Would that make it better? If it made a paradise would all of the dead bodies that paradise is built upon not rot it to it's very core? No in the end it makes no difference his reasoning. He is what he is make no bones about it. A man who cares for little aside from his own personal desires. A man who seeks… to feel. The only time he's ever felt was in a battle that nearly killed him. But he discussed this earlier and I'll probably discuss this later.
So lets talk about his life lessons here. He's right. There is no inherent meaning to life. It is up to you as an individual to figure out what that meaning is. In the end whatever answer you come to is indeed the correct one. Whether or not others agree with you is… irrelevant. YOU need to discover the truth of this world for yourself.
Zenos is what he is and he is my favorite character in the franchise because of it.
There is something so artful to Zenos having the answer to the question that has plagued Hermes' for so many lifetimes.
Just as there is something equally artful to having his character arc during EW literally being the following-
Alisaie: You know, they aren't going to PvP with you if you are going to be toxic about it
Zenos: Well… Damn. When you put that way…
I think its cool that the warrior of light is paracausal. The WoL (…set the path for Venat to become Hydaelyn, who would then choose the WoL, which would then go back in time and…). They are both the cause and effect of the other. I just like that kind of thing. ♡Venat♡
