Blizzard is Desperate and Pathetic if they believe players will choose Legion Timewalking and Mage Tower over FFXIV Endwalker Raids.

  1. You know what this reminds me of?

Masamune Shirow – anyone remember him? He's a mangaka who did some incredibly popular work back in the 90s and early 2000s, but he never developed beyond that phase so he's still doing the same work into 2020. The thing is, anime and manga moved on, and Shirow's no longer as highly-regarded as he used to be. Or that Big Ed guy from some show that my roommate is fond of watching: you look at what he used to look like, then you see what he looks like now, and it hits you that he still thinks he's the guy he was 20 years ago.

Not to personalize a corporation, but I take a look at Blizzard and just see so much arrested development, and it disappoints me more than anything. Their tactics and ego are basically stuck in 2008: they're the Al Bundy of MMOs, eager to remind people that they once had 12M subscribers, but can't place a finger on how they ended up being the biggest loser of 2020.

All this shit is basically what happens when you're all prideful and shit riding on your laurels from decades ago instead of being humble and learning new things to maintain excellence.

  2. It's not about the timewalking. They got that damn mage tower thing coming out the same time. It's limited time and that mage tower is what they are hoping to pull people away from FFXIV. Even for a short time.

  3. I mean this, to me, just proves that Blizzard is doomed. After all the things that have happened this year, they have not learned their lesson, they have not changed their ways. I reactivate my WoW account every expac just to taste the new content and have been thoroughly disappointed the past 4 years. Now, I don't think I'll be reactivating my account.

  4. Path of Exile was intelligent enough to understand when cyberpunk was being released that it would be a waste of good effort to release a new mechanic during that time given the hype. On the other hand, blizzard can't see but they are putting their fans in a terrible position with a move like that. Even if they wanted to go with the timing for releasing that content again, they could show some respect to their fans by allowing the content to stay active for a couple of months. Not much of what they do to stay is making sense

  5. Timewalking is even worse than you described, because you get to use any abilities you've already unlocked, just scaled down. This means anyone that isn't max level is objectively weaker due to missing out on abilities they will have later.

  6. To be fair, Yokai, Garo, and etc aren't permanent because of the limited copyright license. It would be unrealistic to ask for permanent license for those events. As for Blizzard, I expected them to do this because if they don't, they'll have to answer to their shareholders why they didn't do anything.

  7. What Blizzard is doing with timewalking feels like some "Back into the Disney Vault!" bullshit. Brings out content for a bit then locks it back up after a limited period. "Get it now before it's gone!"

  8. Never played WoW so I can't compare, but the Omega and Eden Raid tiers have been consistently great content given to us for the past 4 years, and everyone is hyped for Pandaemonium both for the lore implications and for testing their new Endwalker skillset on Savage content. I don't know how another game can compete with that.

  9. The way you explained about the Regalia is exactly what I did and said!!! I just started the game and blown away by everything but I really wanted the Car mount is what i called it as, I soon found out that the final fantasy event is 2 months away! I hit the gold saucer hard! with no clue how much it cost haha

  10. While it's obvious that it's fully intentional, this move is not about getting the players back, but about sustaining the little that they have right now. But let's be real, getting excited over time-walking, i have never heard of tat before. I have played for many years WoW (mythic raiding) as my main game and never once thought that time-walking was worth of anything (except transmog). It is really far away from what you get on min ilvl sync on FF14.
It's a move of desperation for people to not leave the game. Personally i guessed from the start with how blizzard is working all these years, that they would just release 9.1.5 patch to temp players to not play Endwalker.

Personally the first time i tried FF14 was back in 2019 near the end of storm blood. I felt like i was back in time playing TBC, never went back to WoW as a main game after that

  11. For TImewalking, they have a couple timewalking raids like Black temple and Ulduar. In legion timewalkng you can do legion dungeons, legion mythic + and the mage tower which was like solo trials for wow

  12. You cannot even do every dungeon of one xpac during that timewalking-week (it's one week, not two – every 18-20 weeks), Blizzard chooses them. At least that's what it was in the past, maybe they will change that, I don't know – and don't care at all. 😊

  13. I dont know what the big deal is. Their event only last 2 weeks, and EW isn't going anywhere. Not 100% of the player base will get to the EW raid at that time anyway. I have FC mates who still have not beat MSQ and they played longer than me. So you can do the WoW event get what you can then enjoy EW when the event is gone. I have never played WoW but it seems people fear they will miss out and that is not true at all. Maybe if enough people don't return to WoW they might make it permeant.

  14. The thing about Fear of Missing Out, people need to actually want what they would be missing out on. Is ANYONE still looking forward to what WOW's coming out with anymore?

  15. GW2 made that bad choice at the start of the game. Season 1 was going live and you played the story, large meta events, dungeons and then it was gone forever and we can't play the season 1 dlc. Very fast Arena Net realised this is not gonna work and after that they made the mini dlc that we call seasons always avaiable when it is dropped in game. GW2 figure this out 9 years ago and now 9 years later WoW add something that is going away after 2 weeks. How could they not learn from other mmo and their misstakes. It is mindboggling.

  16. Current WoW devs are working on ways to let you play more of an expansion made by prior WoW devs, instead of spending time making the next expansion. Spoiler Alert on next expansion: It blows but tries to be like Legion.

  17. It actually would be the Blizz flavor of incompetence to try and dodge the Endwalker release by pushing it to a later date and then landing right on the Endwalker raid release lmao.

  18. as someone who left WoW in WotLK, Timewalking sounds so dumb. You paid for the expansion, but can't go back and play it the way it was intended save for a couple of weeks? wtf. How are wow players ok with that?

  19. LMAO time walking week is perfect for those who WANTS TO and also syncing lower level zones is a bad idea cause that kind of shit will automatically destroy solo play and soloing content on your own.

And I bet you would say oh good I would like to see soloing die cause it’s BULLSHIT in my game well guess what fucker you aren’t the only one who’s playing this game and everyone else HAS DIFFERENT play style than you do if you don’t fucking like that shit than I suggest you fucking leave WOW indefinitely.

  20. This is not surprising or not even worth giving blizzard the benefit of the doubt they do this shit all the time oh another mmo is launching or releasing some new content they also launch some sorta or thing as well even if it like a small patch that really does not do anything we even have opted and behind the the scene dev talks saying this is what blizzard corporate wants so they can try to silence or push down there competition
