Estinien, Urianger and Y’shtola make noble sacrifices. Meanwhile, I continue to have my heart used as a punching bag by this expansion.

  1. After Alphinaud talks about following the wind, the pan around the Scions, particularly the older/wiser… Urianger, G'raha, they both understand how this is going to go down.

The theme for Y'shtola defying the Ea is "Thunderer" – appears where you said, appears also prior to The Dying Gasp and in many other key encounters mostly involving the Ascians.

That scene is another example of the "Robyn Addison conveys deep emotion for Y'shtola with small touches" – Y'shtola is furious at the Ea's whole attitude toward the search for knowledge, just with a tremble in her voice. Maybe she's even a little afraid to die – as one is. And moved that Urianger would stand with her, but proud of him at the same time.

For Urianger, I think… honestly I think he just wanted to stand side by side on the front for once, instead of being the guy who had to keep secrets and work alone. He would stand with his old ally and die for the cause

  2. Ea: They describe the current Big-Bang/Entropy theory of the universe, putting the universe at ~14b years old, and in billions of years, the created energy will be exhausted.
Essentially they decided since the universe will eventually end, "what's the point" in progress.
Kinda a sour mindset. But a science-based society couldn't think of alternatives, or a drive to buck the theory. So they crumbled in their own bias.
Good girl Y'shtola, the archeologist, saying "nothing is set in stone" is awesome.

  3. What the Ea describe is known as entropy: specifically, the heat-death of the universe where entropy has reached its end-state of inert uniformity – no more work can be done with the ground state of thermal energy in the distant future. I think Y'shtola does understand the subject matter, though, and realizes that aether-based magicks have anti-entropic properties.

  4. 1:31:41 – Emet-Selch (To Hermes) "Did you consider what may happen if the premise of the question is flawed? To be able to answer it, one must be living and desires to continue doing so. But if Meteion finds no living beings in the course of her journey…or none who desires to live, but then? What answers would she derive from their silence?"

  5. The heat death of the universe is a real theory and since the ea did achieve immortality as well as potentially space travel even if they survived the death of their planet they would have lived to see the end of everything. So they went there’s no point.

  6. As much as I wish these uploads were quicker I do appreciate the time and effort it must take for all the editing to go through. Always looking forward to the next video though. Some of my favorite reactions of this incredible game.

  7. The EA are so interesting, they've turned themselves into beings of pure thought– they can't even comprehend the physical senses and can derive no enjoyment from simple pleasures. They live completely in the future, with no tactile experience of the present.

  8. Meteion has no logic to twist. Meteion is an entelechy, a reflection of emotions imparted on her by civilizations she visisted. Thats why she ends up with such fervent belief that there is naught by despair, and that only course of action is to die. A collective despair of countless worlds, who failed to find their hope, an archive of memories of those long departed, yet envious towards those who still live. She never twists logic, the worlds she visited are all long-dead, and she herself didnt cause death to any she mentions in her report or shows us in her domain. We can literally hear and see what and why brought downfall to these worlds by interacting with memories of its inhabitants, and Meteion was the last witness for every single one. And because all Meteions are a combined collective mind, that functions primarily with strong empathy…. yeah, it was inevitable that she ends up completely twisted and broken.

  9. the story of these EAs is the black drwaf star theory, tho no black drwaf exist now, but eventually all star in our universe will burn out and turn dark, it way more dramatic and fun if you search an actually youtube video about it rather than me tell it in youtube comment

  10. I was a hot mess when doing this part. Don't uh get too invested into characters everyone. When I got to the part where Estinien goes and became the wind I dinged 90 on my Smn. And I foolishly went to go do the final casting role quest as I didn't want to waste any MSQ exp. So I went to Ishgard ugly crying and went oh hey ahhh Atriol, Aymeric…. haaa uhhh. And in my mind I had em wondering why the WoL was ugly crying and needing a hot minute to compose themselves while not having the heart to tell them what just happened on Ultima Thule. Also thank you Urianger in kind of getting pay back on G'Raha with asking him to keep his choice to have the Ea ender also be where he gets off the emotional Rollercoaster. I would have been crying during that as well but I got 90k right as he's telling Y'shtola his reasoning as to why he joined her so I got yanked out of the moment hard.

  11. Regarding Turtle Dragons, we have legends of mythic turtles in Vietnam that are much akin to Dragons. One of our Legendary Kings, Lê Lợi, received the sword Thuận Thiên (a legendary sword in the fashion of Excalibur) from the Dragon King, and returns it to a golden turtle who serves the Dragon King at the end of the tale.

  12. Ea's conclusion of our universe's end is an actual theroy. Entropy. Their conclusion makes sense in that they're immortal beings which know that universe will 100% end at one point in time. It makes sense that it brought them to despair. It's not about agreeing or not agreeing. Their mistake is that they're not enjoying the finite time they have. BTW. Meteion is 100% speaking truth. She almost can't lie. She's an Entelechy who relays emotions. Everywhere she came, people truly wished for death.

  13. I really loved your reading in this part. The way you captured the lamentations of the Dragon's had my eyes watering in the break room lol
Also the stilted, unnatural speech patterns you gave the Ea. With odd pauses and emphasis put on the 'wrong' words, it really gave the feeling of an alien being completely different than us.
