I hate post SB wildfire, it feels soo bad to use. Like at this point just make it a 60 second that does the same as a reassembled drill instantly, because it might as well be that. Getting an optimal wildfire in SHB and EW just feels unrewarding and you're left with the feeling of "wow I worked my ass off for it to do the same damage as basically a reassembled drill on twice the cd length." compared to the fat wildfires you could get in SB and HW.
Love the video as always. Do you think we might ever get a dash move? That's all I really want.
Machinist is my favorite dps and the only one I've leveled that I never get bored playing. That being said, the wildfire window was infinitely funner with gauss barrel. Going completely insane with button presses is definitely preferable to pressing the same button 5 times in a row.
haha "Chain Saw" is referring to chaining saws not a reference to an actual Chainsaw silly
overcharge and wildfire are the biggest downsides to the job for me, they revamped it, but kept what was the worst part of it the way it was…
I hate how underwhelming Chainsaw sounds! It has no sound effect as far as I can tell.
I just wish hypercharge had a finisher. Maybe it unlocks a skill that you have 10 seconds to use before it goes away. Maybe it’s a sniper that has a small 1 – 1.5 second cast time
I kind of wanted an Air Anchor aoe alternative (recast share), like Drill + Bioblaster, when I first saw the Job Actions video i thought Chainsaw would be thist, with it being odd that it wasn't a conal, having it as an extra new skill for more battery is nice though, just feels off having to weave a single target air anchor in the mix. I have similar feelings about DRGs High Jump, Spineshatter Jump and Mirage dive for trash AoE pulls too, espeically since Nastrond and Stardiver are useful in AoE pulls, but thats a different job xD
If I was to make changes to the job right now, I think Auto-Crossbow should have been buffed by 10 potency to match scattershot and grant ricochet charges, flamethrower should be more impactful and display damage on the main screen, there's just no responsiveness to use it, no punch to using it, and I think you should be able to use it while moving, and while the queen is active, your 1-2-3 combo should change like summoner does.
In terms of QOL, if they're not going to give charges to overcharge, which they should, I think the Queen needs to be deployed faster, it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R after you hit the button for it to actually start doing anything.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't like how reassemble and chainsaw work together. There wasn't much to it before but at least there were times you'd use it on something other than drill, now it's one size fits all and you'll always use it on the same ability regardless of whether it's aoe or single target.
The new queen ability is the most boring thing ever. It changes literally nothing and might as well just have said "pile bunker does X more damage"
Extra heat on aoe is nice though. I really liked MCH in ShB but I like it less now relative to other jobs that got better changes.
I think the hypercharge window is part of the identity they want for mch, thus not planning to change it. I think it's ok to have a few jobs not as ping friendly
I cannot underscore enough how good 10 heat per Scattergun feels compared to Spreadshot. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a 3rd type of ammo/gauge system rather than using Reassemble stacks. Maybe I've been playing Reaper too much x)
MCH was my favorite job in ShB and thankfully they didn’t ruin anything about it so I still love it. But I feel like the same thing happened to DNC where they didn’t change anything drastic but they just added nice new extensions to some abilities which is so much more fun for me in EW. I really wish MCH got either an aoe “Automaton King” or made the new queen finisher aoe and I still wish Flamethrower had some interaction with Bio. Shotgun ftw though, so satisfying.
I love MCH. The only thing I still wish they'd do is force auto-direct hit/Crit on Wildfires.

idk i feel like they could have added more new animations on their regular rotations
MCH aoe rotation sucks indeed. Love using it for 8-24 player content but hate it for 4 player dungeons since those are always heavily aoe related burning mobs etc. Also hate flamethrower, yes let me stand point blank melee range not able to move for 10 seconds, sure hope no aoes befall me during 💀
Single Target rotation wise is excellent tho 🤟
Flamethrower needs to go. Rather have some kind of Salted Earth in the form of some grenade or an aoe that puts on a dot. Id also like Wildfire to be AoE.

1:22 To be fair, the "chainsaw" in FF6 was also a rotary saw if you didn't get the instakill version of it. And I still think it should be called "concrete saw."
Honestly, I feel like Machinist is just lacking punch all together. There's nothing that feels impressive. Wildfire feels like a lackluster cooldown. Reassemble feels like a pop and forget. Flamethrower is a complete afterthought after now 2 expansions. Got 1 ability that replaces an AoE button, and got 1 button to press every full minute that doesn't even feel strong. To make matters even worse Queen didn't even get an AoE attached to her 90 skill, so we got robbed of a button to push on top of an AoE skill while still having no climatic moment.
Machinist imo is starting to look like it'll need monk treatment come next expansion at this rate. And if it doesn't have any reasonable additions to at least make gauge feel interactive or wildfire feel like more than a damage cooldown, it may even enter summoner territory to me.
I'm the mad man that misses the Stormblood .0 patch heat but every stage since then my main just gets more fun. All it needs now is some sort of means to restore MP for my Raise Mage buddies.
Oversimplifying the job and adding Dancer in the same patch really cursed ranged phys into doing kinda bad DPS while having fairly boring gameplay. Bard's still fun, but it's not what it used to be. Stormblood machinist was the best iteration by far imo. Remembering the old heat gauge makes me miss increased crits on Warrior's gauge too. Every job getting easier two expansions in a row is not too amazing. Oh well!
Wildfire has always been my biggest disappointment with Machinist. It has no visual impact whatsoever and has the worst ability animation in the game. It also does not match the ability tooltip description of slow burning pitch. In my opinion that's also a missed opportunity for some sort of Flamethrower synergy. Instead, it's just a random blinky Lego.
MCH is the greatest and I'll never stop playing it.
I wish Spread Shot combo'd into Scattergun. Mashing one button over and over is healer shit, and you might as well see both animations used instead of replacing one with another forever. More frequent Wildefire use, and an AoE version of Wildfire (laying mines?). AoE version of Air Anchor too, or just make Air Anchor AoE maybe, or an Air Anchor II, or a completely different type of attack as long as it is an AoE way to generate that 20 battery gauge. AoE attacks for Automaton Queen (I miss Bishop Autoturret). Change Tactician to a techy force field sort of animation. And, I dunno, how about a cryogun?
The only real problems I have with mch is the lack of an aoe usage of the battery gauge and the fact that flamethrower and wildfire still exist.
it doesn’t seem like a lot, but simply adding Chainsaw to the mix made the rotation a bit more complicated than the ShB rotation which was pretty braindead
Question how is he fighting dummy’s like this in his videos and how do unlock it?
And with endwalker has the official death of my favorite dps died they are just moving into the shb rework route further and its just not for me personally

I need changes for Flamethrower. With shotgun and how much heat you genero it turned it even more useless. Not sure what I would turn into tho. Maybe an AOE Battery spender?
And I would love if Hypercharge was a 5 charges skill. It would aliviate high ping players too

super happy you are making these vids now, really love your presentation & way of conveying information, also seem to have alot of similar job things that you also like so works good to go for you for info lol& the fact you've been playing at a very high level for a long time lends alot of credence to your views and thoughts on stuff in my opinion! massive agree with everything you said here, especially the queen not having any type of AOE 🙁 even RDM's finisher became aoe but no queen which feels bad& they do have good AOE dps but would feel better with alot of the changes you said about AOE, bio feels soooo unimpactful lol
Only thing that I don’t enjoy on MCH is the fact that ping affects WF so bad when it comes to high end duty/parse. They could easily fix the WF lag issues by making WF like inner release where after casting your 6th gcd (within 15sec), it goes off
But other than that, I find MCH solid overall

Would it really be so bad to have blm be top sam be second and mch be third in raid aDPS ?
Since they represent selfish dps in each role in difficulty order.
I like the gameplay of mch (except wildfire) but the damage is off putting for me 🙁
(Used to play sam in savage, when you go for uptime strats you are just as free to move and keep hitting the boss as the phy. Ranged are, so i do not see the argument of range tax.
