It would be quite the revelation from a development meta that our character has gotten more vocal and âpersonalâ over the years, peaking with both moral dilemmas and snark in shadowbringers, as Hydaelyn has gotten weaker and weaker
If we really were tempered by her and our own will has started to break through for real, what might happen if weâre completely freed?
Very cool to see The Night Sky Prince on here. And i agree, waay to much head noding at first but i can see where they were trying to cut back on it by giving us dialogue options. Not that what we pick would make a difference on anything. It gets bad when you can predict a head nod coming on and get so tired of seeing it you just roll your eye. It would be cool to hear my WOL's voice.
I think one of the new characters they will introduce will be the future leader of the Empire, unless that's Gais arc đ

I just started playing FFXIV on a new character, and really enjoying the leveling process again. Gotta refresh my mind on the story before 6.0. Good times. Also, I can honestly say that I have no interest in having my character talk, and prefer just having it be silent mouth movements and gestures.
Fandaniel's nihilistic, he's not crazy . He literally seems to want the destruction of anything and everything because nothing matters to him. There's a distinction there. Zenos is just straight-up bored . He's gotten so good at battle that no one other than the WoL is even a challenge to him. I wonder what would happen if we were able to introduce him to something that would be a challenge for him that's not battle-based.
I would go nuts if there is a dramatic pause once the whole story is done and the WOL turns to say…"My name is Jeb!"
On the silent protagonist thing: That's true in most MMOs, isn't it? In Guild Wars 2, it's just strange to me how chatty my guy is, because the narrative/story quests, and it's not my voice or even options for me to say. It's more like watching someone else's movie. It's just a strange feeling that is disjointed and distracting. But in WoW, for example – at least where I always played (which was mostly Vanilla to Mists, and I played a bit in Legion – I don't remember much in the way of talking.
I should also note the Warrior of Light talks all the time. When you do quests were you're the go-between, you'll have scenes where your character does the /converse emote as their mouth moves and their hands gesture. Something similar to this also happens in a lot of cutscenes that "fade to black" as your character gets other people caught up on events. Since you the player already know them, there's no reason for the game to have you sit through minutes of your character getting everyone else up to speed.
So the WoL isn't a mute at all, especially post-ARR. I don't even think the WoL was a mute during ARR itself…though they were probably more of one.
I think people are placing too much faith in Square-Enix because of Shadowbringers. This is one instance where their writing has gotten better, but they should not forget exactly how far the FF series has fallen in their writing. I would argue that it has been a downward trend since the first MMO in FF11. ShB is the one uptick where things have turned around since the decline, but there's no telling if this will continue considering how FF7R's story turned out.
The issue I am afraid of with Endwalker is that if they're trying to tie up the entire story in one go, that means they have to settle the Empire and the Ascian stories in the same expansion and this is where they have had issues in the past. ARR, HW, and SB all had the problem where they split the story into some side adventure. ARR had numerous fetch quests, HW had to resolve the elements of ARR, SB had primals and a second revolution because primals were a thing that they had to do. I could genuinely see this pacing problem arise in Endwalker by trying to resolve both Empire and Ascian stories. That's where they have always had problems. I am worried that they'll revert to jumping back and forth between the two and force primal fights into trials again because Shadowbringers at the moment is the exception, not the rule. I can imagine the Empire forcing in primal fights for the sake of having them again instead of what ShB did and treat them like epic boss fights instead.
The Stick of Truth did that ending
I wouldn't say Zenos is chaotic evil, he's more chaotic neutral. Zenos doesn't go out of his way to cause wanton destruction or slaughter unless it's related to his goal, getting to fight the WoL. Zenos only kills the people we see him kill because they were involved in Black Rose or they were in the way of killing his father, or they pick a fight with him later. (The soldiers seen at the end of 5.3)
Fandaniel is the chaotic evil one, going out of his way to kill and annihilate every last living thing because he finds existence to be intolerable. We'll probably find out that this is because he finds his sundered existence in a world full of inferior creatures maddening and hopeless, so he may as well just burn it all down and finish what the final days started.
i feel like it will be just more of the same formula, they probably even do the relic grind like eureka and bozja again even if it's a big fail for most of the ppl i talked wtih
so if they do make a new engine will it be 7.0? Or will they make a Final Fantasy 17 mmorpg and after 6.0 FF14 is done
Before I started this video, I actually thought of the voice thing. I was thinking of "How could they possibly make something that's on par with Shadowbringers?"
If the WOL starts speaking, that would be the ultimate treat if you ask me. I've wanted nothing more than our character speaking, the other characters even mock us for being silent and just nodding, and it's clear from interraction that we CAN speak, but that the players just don't hear it! Let us in on some chatting Yoshi P!

So long as they keep the Savage mechanics out of the storyline battles, I'll be OK with Endwalker. It doesn't need to be Dark Souls Online.

The fact that the EW MSQ ends in 6.0 makes me think the people who thought Zenos and Fandaniel would be toast in 5.5 were actually right. It just ended up being slightly too big for a X.5 patch and slightly too small for a traditional X.0-X.4 cycle so they came up with this.
What I really love in FFXIV endgame is that all raid, extreme and savage contents are entirely optional.
My thoughts about Zenos are in contrast to most. I friggin love Zenos. He's refreshing and the game needs him because the trope of 'Evil villain isn't all that bad, and sees their wrong doings as a consequence to the greater good' has been used over and over again already.
While our previous villains have had the WoL as an obstacle to get past to accomplish their endeavors, Zenos' goal IS the WoL and everything that has happened has obstructed where their paths intersect. Well, what better way to summon Hydaelyn's champion than by threatening the entire planet? I think peeps are downplaying just how significant, "My friend… My enemy." actually is.
I think it is pretty clear at this point that Hydaelyn and Zodiark are having a rematch, but it's going to be through their respective champions. And I wouldn't invest a whole lot of stock in Fandaniel.
I won't say it's going to be a game changer but more of the same. The story will be great but everything else will be so-so
Ff4 expansion, the twins got center stage, in ff4 the twins turn to stone to save the MC, in ff14 the twins will turn into the crystals hydalyn and zodiac to save the paladin MC and restore the balance of dark and light
I never liked Zenos, because he always reminded me of Arthas from Warcraft. Bulky armor, blond haired pretty boy who uses a sword and wants to kill everyone. He always felt like a Warcraft ripoff

What innovation could have been made on top of my head: -jobs that could be all rounder (not only blue mage )
-AI for old savage content (3 years trying to do the one I missed)
– roulette to be like deep dungeon you can play any job as to lvl them and get your currency at the same time
having in account that we are getting phunels, probably a death scythe class, do you think that at some stage well be getting gundam inspired armor like we had with a garo cross over? the producer seems to be a huge Gundam fan as well so it woundt be a stretch

I want zenos to join the scions cause wol is his bae. And him an alisaie agrue or who ever is the biggest fan girl. Zenos not wanting the world destroyed comes into play When he realizes that if he keeps on he wont get that rematch he is hot in the loins and they better bring back fordola but we will see. I have super high hopes. For expansion.

You're not wrong about 4 most people seem to forget that for a lot of people (myself included) Final Fantasy 4 was actually the second game in the series when it first came to the states. The jump from FF1 in the U.S. to FF2 in the U.Swas huge for a lot of old school fans that was the one that introduced a lot of the core elements of the series and it was also the first one they played. The gameplay, Story, and Characters were far more fleshed out and it really was almost like a Novel we also wouldn't get another one until FF6 (3 in America) so I'm not surprised.
only PvE/Story players might have fun and subscribe to this game. but the reality is the game kinda sux. the gameplay is boring because there is no skillshots and dodging. There is no endgame in FFXIV…the world PvP is dead, the Battlegrounds are bad…long que times+ no good 2v2/3v3 map…lmao did FFXIV really turn of all comments on their youtube chanel? what are they thinking? also the fact that new players can't post on FFXIV reddit is concerning to. this game desperately needs chat bubbles, more PvP content, Smaller IU text font, Frontline que pop out, more skillshots and dodges,t his game has crazy animations but skills feel like they have no impact…they focus on the wrong things…They need to combine PvE with PvP….players fighting for bosses and mounts world pvp events…world pvp quests…FFXIV is still sleeping. just like most moba games who only focus on Conquest
Wasnât it about halfway through before we knew who Fandango was that he turned Zenosâ attention towards Zodiark? Like he literally dropped his name. So maybe Zenos is just letting Fandy yolo for a bit so it will pull us back in to the fray then he can try to yeet us both. 2 birds, 1 scythe
The game is amazing the only thing I wish they added was a blocking feat. Because it's hard to see the aoe attacks especially in the raids with all the mayhem going on. Dcuo maybe inferior but because of the block feature I feel like it makes the game mechanics better especially doing the harder raids. Like I said sometimes u can't get out of the enemy aoe attack because u can't really see with all the mayhem. Just my honest opinion

What I'm holding onto for Zenos becoming more complex is the fact that his own father saw him as nothing more than a test subject. And also, that Yoshi P said that he actually does think you're his friend. And that he slit his own neck at the end of Stormblood. Dude's got issues.

I love Zenos as well. I am pretty certain they are going to do something very interesting with him , and subvert the moustache twirling persona. I mean, maybe something is wrong with me, but I empathized with him a bit in SB, where as I was like "maybe this guy needs a hug and he won't be pure psychotically evil." A las, he probably is. I do love that his singular focus is bringing us down, and as a near demi god, I have to respect a man who wants to come after the WoL.
