  1. Hey! Few things before I let you cannibalize this:

1.) Sorry its 30FPS. My render program crashed for FIVE HOURS trying to render it at 60 FPS. New PC in the next week or so that hopefully resolves this issue.

2.) I decided to do a mix of new player and veteran details in this one. Its definitely more geared towards people who don't understand all the references and lore, so the explanations are very high level to try and make them understandable.

3.) Definitely things I missed so go ahead and discuss. Enjoy 👍

  2. One thing I don't think you noticed was that the silhouette made by the WoL at the beginning was exactly identical to the Ascian silhouette. Another was–and this is conjecture, but it feels to me that at the end when he whirls around, he's "facing" something. Could be a reference to one of the final cutscenes that will be in EW. Facing the final enemy, whoever or whatever that is.

  3. An interesting note on Zenos and his plans, it's actually not confirmed in any of the languages which of the Elder Primals he wants to 'feast' upon. It's entirely possible they're going to pull a reversal on player expectations and have him go after Hydaelyn. Which, might make sense depending on what he knows, as she's the 'victorious' one between Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

  4. So in this most recent collab not only did I get a mount but also 5 Butterfinger bars. Win win! I don’t remember the last time I ate a Butterfinger and I was reminded that I actually like ‘em.

  5. First time since beta, I didn't pre-order the game or expansion. Atm I am not hyped for anything FFXIV-related and the missing Ultimate killed the game for me. Nothing useful to do till november. Sadly, I can't see myself playing endwalker when it is released. Besides some good ideas, there were made so many bad decisions since stormblood and shadowbringers, that FFXIV isn't the game I started playing back in 2013 anymore. They are almost 100% focusing on boring casual content and dumb grinding. I haven't done or finished any relic since stormblood, because my lifetime is too precious and the content is not worth doing it. Dungeons and trials are way too easy and crafting lost all complexity. There is nothing they could offer in endwalker to make me hype the game. I even started skipping the story after around 1/3 of shadowbringers lifecycle.

  6. Sharlayan's color scheme is also based on how Roman/Hellenic architecture looks today. It's now believed that in ancient times those buildings were painted and actually looked closer to Radz-at-Han. I think they're foreshadowing something about preconceptions of vivid color and wild convoluted diversity vs. stark austere monochrome, visual uniformity and which is one is "true" good — Thavnair and Sharlayan are both famously neutral island countries, but Thavnair seems more willing to fight and welcome the Scions as allies.

  7. I saw the spaceship in the logo and took the fact the engines are on and it's pointed at the world as the going to a change of strategy for the Ascian.

What if the plan is just going full throttle on an enormous spaceship and ram the ever living heck out of the surface? Depending on the size, it could ignite the atmosphere, trigger a shift in plate tectonics to cause earthquakes and eruptions.

  8. My hot take on the Thavnair scene with Urianger and Thancred is that Urianger's not talking about Radz At Han , "The Respite afforded this land" is referring to the seventh umbral calamity basically dodging an apocalyptic bullet.

  9. At the start of the trailer, when the WoL is shadowed by the sun he resembles a lot an Ascian. For me, it is a reference to the WoL being, basically, the reincarnation/fragmented soul of Azem, to which we came to know in 5.3, had the 14th seat of the Convocation of Fourteen, and he walking alone is probably a reference to Azem being know among the other members as "The Wanderer".

  10. I'm just wondering and very concerned about how they are going to tigh up all the loose ends and close all the loops to finish a story so massive in just one expansion? How is one expansion long enough to explain and solve all the problems that have been built up through all the hundreds of hours of story since 2.0? I really hope they don't rush to an end like Bleach, where you basically waste all the background plots you have designed for years and just end it with a lazy man 1v1 battle. Cuz it's not like us killing Zodiak then all the problems/conflicts/struggles among nations and races would just magically go away, you have to be better than that, SE, especially after your exceptional job done with ShB.

  11. So something i noticed on the book Gra'ha was reading is the fact it has Azems crystal symbol on it so maybe Azem was a founder of sharlayan or some tomes and diaries were found and placed in the vault there?

  12. Some lore details you skimmed over or misread:

    1) The creatures the Warrior of Light and the twins are fighting at the start are not voidsent. They are Terminus Lacerators, who, like the Terminus Idolizers in the Heavensward segment and the First Beast on the moon, are from the Amaurot dungeon. This makes the scene more meaningful, because it introduces the concept of the creatures of the Final Days reserving, as the later scenes reinforce.

    2) The giant statue in the harbor of Old Sharlayan clearly represents Thaliak, patron deity of Sharlayan. God of waters and knowledge, he is said to have created a river of knowledge by pouring it from his ewer, as the statue represents.

    3) The logarithmic spiral is a symbol of Sharlayan itself, specifically due to its appearance in the coiled shell of the nautilus. Thaliak is said to have appointed the nautilus as the keeper of his river, and so it became a symbol of knowledge and immortality.

  13. One part that I can't let go of is how Fourchenault slides his hand across the center of the map, the shrouded part, while talking to Y'shtola. What do y'all think is the significance of that? Hard for me to come up with anything since we don't know much of what's there in the world, just hints of land around the edges of the painted clouds.

  14. Something I thought might be interesting to note is that there's a very… desperate look on Fourchenault's face when he says that Sharlayan must survive. It's a very somber frown, it has a lot of weight to it.

  15. I know this was weeks ago, but I noticed this recently: on the fountain statue in Sharlayan is a blue symbol. If you pause and look closely, you can see it's the symbol for Thaliak. Important both as he is the Sharlayan patron saint, associated with Water, and one of the 12 – who might play a large role in one of the raids.

  16. good video, but I gotta be honest, the Shadowbringers trailer was such a timeless artistic gaming achievement imo, I can't help feel kind of letdown by Endwalker

  17. Interesting when Zenos said “At the far edge of fate…”. Zenos was revealed at the end of patch 3.5 part 2, the name of the patch is “The Far Edge of Fate”. It all comes around.

The land of Thavnair can also be a huge FFX reference, that big rock structure looks like Sin, Anima is confirmed to be in Endwalker.

The rectangular structure that is in the logo along with the moon may be a reference to the Lunatic Pandora from FF8, another game that features the moon, and maybe the airship that will carry us to the moon. The Lunar Whale is not gonna be that ship, for obvious reason. Also in the game it may be an Allagan tech because it looks like one of their Tomestone, and the Allagan has to have a role in the story somehow.

  18. I really hope that end bit there was a tease for some cape physics, they exist in the game on other items like the wedding veil, but actual capes just look like sheets of stiff leather stapled into our shoulders.

  19. Sharlayan actually is based off of art histories (incorrect) assumption about Greek architecture. White marble wasn't actually a thing, most statues were painted as well as frescoes, the buildings and statues have paint residue of turquoise and canary and coral shades similar to natural dye colors all across the Mediterranean. Think less white marble and more Sicilian seaside town.
