The people complaining about Endwalker are the content creators that can't find things to talk about and players that have been playing for years and have already done everything they want to do in the game.
The vast majority of the playerbase just log in and chip away at long term goals or they don't log in, they don't complain and they just find something better to do with their time.
Pretty much. From my point of view when I play ffxiv, since heavensward, there is maybe at best 20% of content released in an expansions life span that I would play. Deep Dungeons, crafting, normal dungeon runs for glam and at best some extremes. I have never gotten into any savage or ultimates. I never got into any of the very hard content. Didn't get into Eureka or Bozja. Haven't soloed any deep dungeons, I use them to level. I have done so little of ffxiv compared to most vets and still do the same amount now, percentage wise, of an expansion. So hearing them complain of "lack of content" has me giggle because they have still done far more then I have.
People really need to read that report on Rotten Tomatoes because it was just a small time publicity company that no one has heard of, paying small time reviewers that no one has heard of, to give good reviews to small time movies that no one has heard of.
And Rotten Tomatoes has come out and either banned or warned all of those reviewers that they won't tolerate paid reviews.
Then there is the 3rd camp, which I fall into. I play one multiplayer game due to several reasons, and one being money. I'm 100% unemployable as my medication makes me an insurance liability, so I make money by selling stories online. I don't make a lot, but I do have a core following who love my work deeply. I can't afford to go around spending £50+ quid on a game I may or may not like. FFXIV costs me the expansion and a few quid per month. With that sub money? I've gained friends and a partner that I love very much. I play other games at times, such as Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica, plus Pokemon Let's Go and Pokemon Go, but that's it. FFXIV gives me so much joy that the game itself is second.
Saying that! Just because I love FFXIV and love what FFXIV has given me, doesn't mean I'm blind to its flaws. The glam system makes me scream blue murder! As far as 'bad' expansions go? There hasn't been a 'bad' expansion. All five expansions have had moments where the plot has slowed to crawl, moments that have dragged, quests that were unnecessarily long and almost painstaking. Yet those moments don't take away from the overall enjoyment of the game itself.
Zepla took a 6 month break and plays mainly genshin. I wouldn't really call that a 1 game Andy. Imagine taking a 6 month break from an MMO coming back and still having nothing to do. That's pretty bad imo.
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I enjoy FFXIV for the same reason that others seem to complain: it doesn't want to dominate my time… so if there are other games that take my attention, great! If there's a new patch in FFXIV, great! But my time is valuable and I appreciate a game that seems to feel that way, too. I also appreciate that I can set my own long term goals and accomplish them on my own terms. To each their own I guess!
I'm fairly new to FFXIV and even considering that fact I can still totally understand most of the criticisms regarding post-EW content. To me, as a new player that still has tons of content to do, is crazy to think that basically 90% of the content I haven't done in the game isn't EW content but stuff from previous expansions. I think nobody can argue that is pretty obvious that, in terms of content, EW is by far the smallest xpac of all, even when the next big patches come, EW will still be a very small expansion in terms of content compared to the previous ones. All the people that are trying to debate about that are straight up dumb.
INSTANT GRATIFICATION BABY! Post EW patch endgame besides high-end raiding has no re-playability. There is no long term casual activity with progression- relics are a joke,no EUREKA/BOZJA,no MMO activity,… Patches fell empty week after launch. FFXIV is great but new EW content not so much.
EW caters to the 1% of playerbase- supercasual that demand every content should be done in a week and all combat demands barely any effort I myself am no hardcore/one game andy but to see people come back after 2 patches to have be done with new in a week and repeating years old already completed content for an MMORPG is bad.
Example my whole house ward is just people log in to keep the house- even FCs that have 150+ players
A bit offtopic, but i'm really glad to see you frequently upload again. I like how you deliver thoughts and opinions in a straight to the point, no bs manner.
Me, who has been playing the game since 2019, who has over 500 days of in game play (don't remember how many hours would that be), who replayed 6.0 maybe 3 times already and wishes patches were on NG+, who enjoys the relics because they don't stress out after the last year of uni and just in general for a serverely depressed person, 6.0 msq who gave me a message to carry on while every day is a struggle: Man, I must be really playing the game wrong if this is the worst expansion because now it's the best expansion for me.
For me it's the story. I know, I know, it's not allowed to criticize the story in this game, but I really don't like the post Endwalker story at all. The enemies are bland and Zero is rather cringe…
I am completely blind to ffxiv's flaws and I am quite happy with that. After the hell that was WoW for 14 years, I'm one year into FFXIV and have yet to find ANYTHING I even dislike a little. I understand that everyone plays for different reasons. I'm more or less a solo-player, in it for the brilliant magnificent story, the world, the questing, the gathering, the dungeons, the raids, my little squadron, all the beautiful and emotional moments. I am so satisfied.

I play this game weird, so I don't really get it, but I've always appreciated that it doesn't try to monopolize my hobby time.

Yes it is bad. The problem, I guess, is that shadowbringers was infinite superior in almost every single aspect.
