New? Got too many skills? Made the mistake of using a level skip and have no idea what anything does? Just hate reading? Try this guide out!
This guide seeks to teach new Summoners how to Summoner properly, without getting too deep into optimization. I’ll be showing off and explaining some openers but not delving too much deeper beyond that and general skill usage. Endgame is a long way away and there’s lots to learn along the way. Start slow and work your way up one skill at a time! Then, graduate to more advanced guides.

Note: The level 35 and 45 Egi Summons are MSQ locked as well beyond the normal requirements. If MSQ guide does not list your next job quest, progress the story like normal.
Great video, but only problem is that even at level cap, I'm still petting my carbuncle whenever I get a chance.
/petsize all small? I think you mean /petsize all even bigger, I want titan’s titanic ass to fill even more of my screen
I shouldn’t need to say this, but this is the internet:
This was a joke
I watched every guide you made, super helpful every time I wanted to get into a new job, but honestly I then started to watch them just for the sake of watching them, like even jobs I knew already, or re-watching the same multiple times, I just love these guides and was super happy that chair suggested them as well
Best guides. Thank you.
Any particular reason you went a different path for the opener than the balance, by going titan after bahamut instead of garuda?
thanks!
i was looking at summoner as one of my next to level this weekend
I don't think I want to go from petting bunky to blocking my screen with Titan's ass. I'm staying level 1.
/petsize all MOON!
You are the guide master Wesk. Thank you man!
I've been a SMN main since like 2.4, and I've been with summoner through all the ups and downs. I've always loved the job, but this current iteration is basically what I always wanted from it. The ENTIRE job is now summoning, and that's basically all you do! Yeah, it's honestly a little too simple, but the aesthetic of it goes a long way toward my enjoyment. And it sets a good foundation for ways they can improve and build on it in the future. Imagine if after you summon Bahamut, what if all your 3 basic summons changed to new summons? Maybe turning Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda into Leviathan, Ramuh, and Shiva? That'd be incredible. Or maybe it'll be something else they do in the future. Whatever it turns out to be, I'm here for it.
Does it feel wrong to anyone else that Titan does the most damage? Even moreso by having ogcds to spam.
Like everything until last sentence 😛 All small is a massive DPS lost XD JK JK
This is a great guide I just miss old Summoner.
Ah yes, the third new job
/pet size "small"
For your own sanity listen to what the man says. By God you need this.
A couple recommendations:
1. Cast Ruin III pre-pull (only really applies in coordinated content usually)
2. Whatever your first Ruin III is, cast an extra Ruin III before using Searing Light. Searing Light can't be used until enemies are aggro-ed, so if you use it on your first Ruin III, you'll find that you can't use it until late into your GCD, meaning you'll clip Summon Bahamut (you can actually see this happen in the video).
So basically it goes:
Ruin III pre-pull cast (1.5s on the timer)>Ruin III+Searing Light>Summon Bahamut
If you're in DF content where timers aren't used a lot, use the opener in this video, but add one more Ruin III before Searing Light. So it would be:
Ruin III>Ruin III+Searing Light>Summon Bahamut
You are the best at skill guides!!! I love all your guises so much!
I want to have my carbuncle at lvl 90 ;_;
Another day I ask why they can't make physik a job skill on sch so for smn it could scale on int
Can you still pre-pull devotion/Searing light with place to have the buff be active twice in a rowd with a 3min pull time?
I have been playing new summoner since 6.0 in the 60s level range and I genuinely only just realised ruin 4 is aoe now. In my defense, why would I expect ruin 4 to be aoe now?
