  1. Remember in ARR in the cutscene with the Ala Mhigan spy? His codename was Hummingway.

    I found Livingway’s panic to be hilarious.

    The issue with the horrid roaring coming from the earth doesn’t seem to be entirely waxing poetic. We just weren’t around for it. In Radz-at-Han, Ahewann says the people heard the sound when the Final Days started in that area. So it might be consistent.

  2. My brother got me into FF14, so he was doing the mentor "live vicariously" part as I went through the MSQ and always asking me my theories. When I got to the part where you hear the voice, he was like "So what do you think? Is Hydaelyn evil?" (We had already talked some about this) And I was like, "Either she's evil, or I think there's a third party involved." His reaction was pretty priceless, so I figured I guessed right. Didn't seem likely Hydaelyn would be evil imo.

    Also, as promised:
    The top line is NOT canonical because saying G'raha's name is not the top choice in any ShB and I dont care that it was optional content and maybe that's why it's not first, don't disrespect my boi like that.

    And I so love every moment we get with Urianger through ShB and Endwalker. He's probably my second favorite behind G'raha. I know he doesn't get near as much attention but he's such a good hearted guy and some of his moments are absolutely adorable (him asking about his new appearance in ShB, and there's a hilarious bit in Ahm Araeng with some NPCs when they equate you with a fairy tale, and of course the later moment I'm sure you'll get to T_T) So many little moments add up to a lot of characterization.

  3. Bunnies aren’t simply cute like everybody supposes;
    They’ve got those hoppy legs and twitchy little noses.
    And what’s with all the carrots?
    What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?!
    BUNNIES, BUNNIES, IT MUST BE BUNNIES!
    …or maybe midgets.

  4. Re: dialog choices and canonicity: I think the writing implies that the top line is usually the "canonical" line for the story, but the writers know that we will often use the callback line when given the choice. (Something something smile something hero)

  5. Re: "canon" dialogue options: ShB MSQ lvl 89 choosing between 1) "Remain silent" or 2)"Call him by his name". My opinion is that that second option was more fitting for my WoL. I do find it interesting that the second option is given more depth as a refusal of the "Remain silent" option, so perhaps there are cases where the order of the options reflects the order that they cross the WoL's mind, or times when refusing a certain option is the writer-intended canon

  6. YES I'm so happy to have more Endtalkers, I've been waiting for it impatiently. I could listen to you and Niniri opine about FFXIV for about as many hours as it takes to actually play FFXIV.

    The Loporrits were an interesting arc for me because I understood what they were doing to lighten up after Garlemald/Zodiark, but I'm not as immediately charmed by cute things. Maybe I'm just cold-hearted, maybe anime tropes have given me a knee-jerk reaction. For whatever reason, I was really feeling the whiplash from "OH MY GOD I JUST STARTED THE FINAL DAYS" to "b. bu?? bunnies????? bunnies on the moon??????", and it made it difficult for me to get invested in the Burrows. While this section and the Titan Banquet are not actually comparable, I nonetheless felt the same here as I did then, a gear-grind between the stakes, and what we were actually doing. But the tropes of the well-meaning and completely wrong caregivers is a trope that really appeals to me for some reason. That along with their contribution to the thematic richness of Endwalker (and foiling off my boy Urianger) eventually shifted my opinion. A second time through, I fully embraced the Loporrits, I absolutely love them now. And despite the fact that this tone shift feels a bit too harsh, I'll still champion my argument that you could teach a class on tone using this expansion as material. And I'll always argue that this and second half of Labrynthos are essential to Endwalker's pacing.

    "Conservatively estimate 12 episodes of talking about Elpis" oh say you aren't lying, please. I want every diatribe, tangent, every stray thing the Ancients remind you of, I could do with 20 episodes just on Elpis honestly.
