  1. This is what causes YoshiP to come down on 3rd party addons. When I heard about this whole GShade thing, I uninstalled it and then Installed Reshade. Hopefully 7.0 just implements these shaders. I know there's some that are included in the gpose filters, but not nearly enough.

  2. GShade was always the addon held up as the example of why mods should be allowed. Meanwhile Yoshi-P is sitting in Japan looking at his statement that they can't authorize the use of ANY third party tools because of the risk of malware and saying "I told you so" I'm not saying people deserved it, just that it validates the official position.

  3. The sad part is, Gshade and it's ilk are post processors – taking what the game sends to the video card and tweaking that. Quite different than the mods that have to interact directly with the game and so Gshade etc is normally a far less 'problematic' category of program than those other programs.

  4. I feel like FFXIV is imploding on itself because it gotten very popular in relatively short amount of time. If I remember correctly, FFXIV is still the top 20 sell on Steam and has been on it for a while. I got to admit, I have never seen anything like this for the FFXIV community.

  5. Yeah basically my opinion is mods that affect gameplay doesn't belong in this game. Becaue it's also on console and its cross-platform. But consoles can't use mods.

But yeah this is still beyond petty and sad.

  6. Some of the mods are so unobtrusive and do nothing but change a look at your end. But the ones I've seen for the high end trials – those are pretty bad. I wish they'd make a clear division between those. It's stuff like that which keeps me from even considering savage content – if it's so hard you need that, why would I EVER want to do it in the first place? And I totally get why they don't allow damage meters – I remember way back in WoW when people were demanding gear scores for over land – whatever they were. Not fates… (it's been a long time since I touched that game) And the damage meter miseries! I remember fights between healers, just viciousness (all this contributing to my eternal loathing of all things wow, btw) – so ya, keep that out of here. However, strictly enforced NO GRIEFING OR MENTIONING IT, EVER! – that's fine. A damage meter is useful for your own self-monitoring. Of course, and again, it would be misused and be a miserable drain on a generally positive community. But I don't think they should ease up for the most part – I DO think looking away for cosmetic mods and that sort of thing is quite reasonable.

  7. I uninstalled Gshade, left the Gposers discord, reinstalled Reshade and threw back the salvaged presets back in. Continuity. Shame that there is a maint tonight, but at least a couple of streamers on my server will be wrapping up 5.0 MSQ tomorrow.

  8. Imagine being the guy, who lives in the US and violated multiple federal laws, doubling and tripling down on their right to write malware into people's computers, because his pride won't allow him to understand that what he did was super f-ing illegal! This guy is one Wayback Machine snapshot and a phone call away from potentially being prosecuted as an actual federal criminal, and cannot find it in his heart to apologize and take the L.
Guy literally told people (although I'm paraphrasing) "I could've done so much worse but I chose restarts because it's harmless" and he thinks that makes it any better lol

    Amazing. RIP GShade.

  9. He made it in an attempt to stop people from auto downloading presets people made and taking that from the creators who made them without permission.
it was an epically stupid thing to do non the less.
this why we cant have nice things.

  10. I've never known about the Nvidia shader thing, and I've had this laptop for over a year now. I might give this thing a shot.

Now, the time has come for me to use Nvidia to build the Overlay Network! I XYZ Summon Graybegone in Attack mode!

  11. I'm just sitting here and shaking my head at how dumb and childish the developer of GShade is. They KNEW the official stance of 3rd Party Apps and that having malware could get GShade banned from FFXIV point blank period.

The lesson here: play stupid games making childish decisions via negative emotions, win stupid childish emotional prizes when Daddy Yoshi P spanks you by banning your app.

As for the part of the community who used GShade, it is what it is. They have my sympathy but their only option now is to accept what happened and move on. It's not their fault the GShade developer would rather act like a 2 year old toddler and throw a temper tantrum over something so insignificant and add malware to their app than continue to be loved by a significant portion of the FFXIV community.
