You can use your anti knock back to counter a lot of mechanics in this raid
The most important part of the last boss is to enjoy the music and to dance before the fight starts, ofc ;). But there's a caveat: I know the music is great and we want more of it, but don't wipe us for that reason if we get the scales phase.
For Aglaia, other than understanding mechanics (which is satisfying, as usual, so my recommendation), it works quite well to just follow the group. That's what I did at first before I understood the raid. It seems to work better than in other raids. People seem to know this one better than other alliance raids.

It might be be helpful to include spell names. For example, Azeyma's Fleeting Spark is an untelelgraphed 270 degree cleave. A first time player would need more direction than "When this happens, don't stand in the fire."
Note on the last boss: the pants/skirt also indicates if the boss will switch colors midway through the cast. (Switching if pants, not switching if skirt). It also works for the Hell of Fire lasers; the boss will switch laser directions if wearing pants.
