Now go back through ARR and play the Company of Heroes section and realize that it's a group of veterans who have seen, and gone through, some shit but are trying to adjust back to life in the civilian world by giving gravitas to seemingly superficial tasks. One guy completely lost his sight and has to rearrange his life and interests around his sense of smell and taste rather than his sight. Everyone casts shade on specifically that section of the ARR MSQ, but it's one of my favorite.
Just like Ryne, who had been basically raised to be a brutal killing machine, she now has this new lease on life. A chance to enjoy the little things, like complimenting friends on their attire and enjoying biscuits with them.
Or, just like you the player, who is playing a video game, not stuck in Ukraine or being forcefully sent off by your country to go fight in Ukraine. And hopefully the Ukrainian and Russian soldiers / conscripts will have a game to come back to.
Sometimes, the big things ARE the little things. That's actually what we strive for, and sometimes fight and die for. That's one of my big takeaways from XIV's MSQ.
I think you just described the final fantasy franchise in general lol.
Each main entry is relatively the same but the way the story is told and its style are different. Thats why some people prefer certain numbered entry over the other.
This is how I feel about the whole argument about FFXIV being a weeb game. The story itself goes deep into things that not even a western RPG would dare to do right now like rape, martyrdom, self-sacrifice, sex trafficking, patricide, racism, and so much more. People who don't know assume it's gonna be like an episode of pokemon or naruto.
ryne's a teenage girl who never had a proper childhood or any other real friends her age so how she reacts to meeting gaia and being so overly eager to befriend her isn't too surprising.
I mean you may feel it's cringe but think back to your own years from age 13-16 I bet you had your own fair share of behaviour and mannerisms that in hindsight would surely make you cringe at yourself too.
subscribe to encourage me to do hildibrand
Thanks for keeping an open mind!
My man changing his mindset, love to see it

in Ryne's and Gaia's defense, this is just how young girls interact with eachother…especially with bi-curiosity involved cough
That Extreme series for Shb is really good, waiting to hear what you have to say once you finish it.
