Just in case anyone here needs it explained the way someone in my own party did: for Volcanic Torches, each blue flame will basically trace the outside of a long column across the arena, so you just need to find the one (or ones, later) that isn't outlined in blue fire. You should be able to determine this pretty easily once the flame reaches the end of the arena the first time and makes its first turn.
