  1. Mystery Garlean in armor is likely Nerva. Mystery continent is Meracydia. We've seen it before in cutscenes with Elidiboi on the moon. Also, we already know that monsters were part of the final days of Amaurot. They were created from people's fears while their powers went wild.

  2. The continent to the south in the shot from the moon would be Meracydia right? The original home of the Warring Triad, and Tiamat?
I feel like the great crystal stairwell type area might be the aetherial plane where Hydaelyn herself exists within; while the dark area with the orbs and such might either be the Ascians' void in-between the living realm and the lifestream , or maybe even an area on the Thirteenth Shard.

  3. Before going through the video, let me first say thank you for all you do, Meoni. You are a bright star in the XIV community.

I loved the new trailer, but Emet Selch narrating it made me lose it and start crying. Two friends of mine just cleared ShB for the first time, so it's all fresh again. I think the moon is for US, the viewer, and Thancred just looks up to it because it's a very full moon on a dark night. Although, it's interesting that we're leaving in the evening – i'm sure that was for thematic effect.

So the Amurot/Thavnair – it may be that Fandaniel is still trying to force a rejoining, by causing the End of Days in the Source. It might be why it's cutting back and forth, and people are talking about the end of the world. It's possible that it's being caused by all of the towers and Lunar Primals/Tempered souls within. I'm not sure if the statue is a boss, it looks decorative. As for Garlemald – I think we go there later in the expansion, not sure, and find that we're blocked. It's why the twins are in the cold, waiting for (presumably) the WoL and other Scions. But I could absolutely see the Garlean citizenry being told that we're to blame for whatever social collapse has taken place. And I just realized that once we announced to the Alliance (or they hear it from the rumor mill) that the Sions are going to Garlemald, Lucia might have offered to be our guide.

I think the Lady in White is going to be Hydaelyn's avatar from now on, since Minfillia's moved on. The "crystal path" reminds me of the last screens before you faced Sephiroth in vanilla FF7; it also makes me think of the Crystal path to descend inside the moon's core in FF4. I'm thinking cutscene under the palace shown on the moon in promo images. I think we're going to face Zodiark at the end of that path – in the room where we see the Hades-esque black walls with Ascian masks.

The big ugly Muud Suud looking thing that villagers are running from? Totally Phunbaba from FF6 and Mobliz.

So as for the last bit. Alphinaud looks like he had a wardrobe change. A pretty significant one – it's possible that the Sharlayan Council has some sort of accident and Alphinaud stays behind, essentially "leaving" the Scions, in the same way Lyse did. I can't imagine that he could pass and it WOULDN'T break Alisae. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of Alphinaud, so i'm torn on the idea of him dying. If I remember correctly, there was something cryptic said about Einstinien, so he might be the one who passes instead.

Either way, thank you if you read this, and have a great day!

  4. To play off your take at the end with the ensemble portraits, I think it'd be pretty funny/wild if literally everyone not pictured dies and you spend the next expac walking the ascian path to put the world back together. Undoing the "end," as it were. Good stuff – appreciate your knowledge of the older games!

  5. 1:30 I'd like to point out that this scene, panning over the hustle and bustle in Limsa Lominsa, is a full circle moment from the original Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 trailer that has a very similar shot. The only difference is the 1.0 trailer was morning, and this 6.0 trailer is at night.

  6. That model at 16:00 really reminds me of Humbaba from Final Fantasy VI and the implications of how he was released from the underground in VI when the World of Ruin was being formed makes me think something similar may be happening here. D:

  7. Something i heard within the trailer that was cool to me-
A little voice telling us we’ve “suffered enough” and asking to “relieve our burden” all while we clasp our soul Azem crystal.
It was a bit young sounding so I’m not partial to the idea that it was Azem themselves…but it just sounded really endearing coming from a character we don’t yet know.
I wonder who our new friend will be 🥲

  8. Either Thancred or Estenien is getting the axe. I think Thancred. It feels like his character has reached the max amount of growth with going from playboy to a father. Estenien will likely fill the role of the cool guy who does all the cutscenes fighting stuff in Thancreds place.

  9. The boss with the brambles/vines looks like the ground is Ancient, much like the final boss arenas for the Anyders. My guess would be the final boss of the dungeon with the different climate zones that looks like an Ancient laboratory with all the giant concept crystals (again, like the Anamnesis Anyder).

  10. i'm so confused by fandaniel's motive. like in 5.x he's all "i want to die and bring everyone else with me" and, this is a direct quote, he says "honestly the three [unsundered] were obsessed with restoring the one true world. as a sovereign individual, however, i never had much interest in such things." but in this trailer he says "there must be a way to restore things to the way they were. to reclaim the perfect paradise we once had." sooo…?

  11. I wonder if it's possible that the guy who is "spontaneously combusting" is being turned into a void creature? It some what reminds me of sineaters changing normal people and animals. Though nothing in frame seems to be attacking him, so I'm unsure.

*As a side note, Meteor (WoL) sitting on the throne slumped down reminds me of Zidane's depression scene in FF9.

  12. It looks like the boss Asura, that has multiple heads, it was in ffIV. That big tower made of crystal might be the tower of babil, but who knows there is so much stuff. D: It looked like the guys aether was consumed by either the monster or something else when the dude exploded. The big monster, bush monster looked like the Destroyer from the Amaurot dungeon.

  13. That crystal walkway area just screams JRPG final dungeon to me. Some sort of alternate dimension with nothing in it but a path to walk on and some floaty bits = final dungeon.

Also, maybe just a small callback, but 2:05 are these two lalafells npcs from the rogue and the samurai quests?

  14. Regarding Zenos and Anima, since he is a reaper, Yoshi-P mentioned in a past interview that he too would have an avatar like the player does. What if Anima is his avatar? It may have more story lore of course but I think it may be tied to his new job.

  15. Ok, flashback sequences. 23:39 The one where we enter Ishgard by walking across the Steps of Faith with Alphinaud and Tartaru. Perhaps an oversight. But, that doesn't match the Heavansward Launch Trailer which had the very same scene in it. In fact, instead you have an exact image of Ardbert who is even wearing the exact same outfit he wore in Shadowbringers. Maybe they are just reinforcing your connection to him and took some liberties there… Or maybe it's some other reason.
