  1. They probably have data showing that almost no one completed previous expansions' relic grinds more than once or even once. Bozja was a cool story but the weapon grind did not add to the enjoyment.

  2. Personally, I like the idea of one of the expansions having an easier or more story-based relic grind. We already HAVE two different exploration zone relic grinds, and you can always do that again if you're wanting that kind of content. We have the HW tour of game modes, and ARR's even more extensive exploration of FATEs, Leves, and every kind of content. Endwalker being the expansion with 5 expansions of side stories, 3 trials, and then capping it off with basically a 6000 tome purchase, with additional relics just needing that end purchase, lets you enjoy the idea of kitting out ALL your classes with relics. And then once you have, if you want more relic glam options, well, that's what all the previous expansion relics are for.

If you REALLY want to have a grind for hildy weapons, just force yourself to do an ARR relic (including redoing a previously done relic if you already have them all) before getting the hildy one. Want Hildy sage weapon? that'll cost ya a WHM Zodiak weapon.

Personally, I have 1 ARR relic, 3 Heavensward, 0 Stormblood (still working through Eureka), 3 Shadowbringers, and 4 Endwalker Relics. Endwalker is the first time I'm considering getting the full set, rather then just the few I want.

  3. in my opinion i like the new relic system, im deadass have not enough time anymore like i used to, and i play 5 jobs and if it was 50 hours per weapon grind id just quit doing relics, sure its fun to grind for 1 or 2 but not 5. i see where you coming from but to me its a big plus. having less time and being able to get relics to all my 5 jobs. if you want a grind go do hw and zodiac and eureka and zadnor.

  4. Zero was an avatar, a voidsent attached to a soul. Perhaps that is part of of the reason she can go with us, she can attach her soul to us. Also since she is a voidsent it might be easier to "put her in white auricite" as one of my buddies keeps mentioning every time we have to deal with moving souls.

  5. Thanks for your time of google translate!
I love eureka. My casual gamer self finds it enjoyable to afk in my house while in q for an alliance raid 70, 80, 90; I have time for my offline stuff and still get some game in too. Thus I'm completely ok with the tomestone 90 relics.

  6. I like the grind for relics just fine. Bozja and Eureka are both fun places to go but they have some serious flaws. Eureka only lives to this day from organized groups pushing the content and casual people riding along and the last time I peeked into Bozja/Zadnor the instances were dead. The problem with the content is interest and longevity. Eureka has remained as popular as it is because it's pure money when you know how to work the system. Bozja will live again for a brief and glorious period after Dawntrail lands while people level grind the new jobs and then go back to being dead. If there's no reason to go back into content besides the relic grind, people won't go back into that content unless they simply enjoyed it enough to make those areas their regular hangout.

  7. pretty sure the part you didn't understand had to do with Raiders having to concentrate on one Data Center. Not sure what it's like on EU but in NA you pretty much have to Data Center travel to Aether to be able to find a PF group. I have read while looking further into this issue that in JP, that so many people Data Center Travel, it ends up congesting the raid Data Center causing log in problems on patch release, and that raiders will Data Center Travel the day before the weekly reset, otherwise they will be stuck in a data center queue for hours and miss their raid.

  8. Hi, JP player here. The "mana data centre" part of the interview refers to how the data centre "mana" is the savage raid hub amongst the four JP data centres (the other 3 being elemental, gaia and meteor). Alot of people have mentioned that this is the case for na/eu as well with their own data centres.

In JP espcially, savage is often cleared on party finder, including week one raiders. This situation became very bad when data centre travel was added, to the point that it was so congested that people would move their character from other JP DCs to mana before reset so that they can raid.

Also, mowena refers to the crafter/gatherer relics

  9. Japanese speaker on Mana DC here – it's really miserable being a casual non-raider whenever the new raids drop, because every raider from all three other JP DCs travel to Mana to the point where the other DC PFs are legitimately dead.

It gets to the point where people call the other DCs "the countryside" and us city folk become unable to travel between worlds on our own DC, and if we visit another DC we are unable to even return to Mana.

  10. On a Side note.
I'm amazed how much free time, people appear to have!

    Looking at the comments.

On another note besides I see a few fearing it is the death of relic Weapons because they are Sticking to this model for the rest of the Expansion.

Also seemingly ignoring how Yoshi made it Clear that he'll observe and see making adjustments as he always has.

Relics will keep appearing so, long as jobs will.
And if you consider Endwalkers Set up.
This just really a variation that fits the Expansion theme.

And different Variation has always been a thing for these things.

ARR had its theme the world.
    HW: the Soul.
SB: surving on a Strange Island.
    SHB: winning a War.
    EW: Manderville History.

Though I would'nt mind if they could throw in some Armor glams in the future.

    Like SB and SHB.

  11. I think every main story (MSQ) content should be able to be completed with your party of NPC's. It is way more immersive. There is nothing worse than to stop on your tracks cause you have to go on a queue after a very dramatic moment. It completely ruins the immersion. I remember finishing Aumorot and getting that cinematic after the dungeon and being ready to resolve this situation only to be there waiting for a queue for 15m. It doesn't do the game justice to have that kind of experience.
It would also make New game+ way more palatable as well. I imagine it will be much worse now that the trials of endwalker are part of the MSQ.

  12. wish you could choose the difficultly of the raid before starting the raid. many of the veteran players lover the extreme difficulty, they do not care how may pulls or how many months it take to cleat the raid, as long as it is hard as hell. AND the REWARDS are very RARE. for player to stay longer, they want a reward or rewards that will be beneficial. we watch many videos why players did not like endwalker, it is not pleasant to see player leaving FF14, because certain raids was removed and the rewards meant absolutely nothing/trash….. can not wait for the devs to bring over the mini games from FF7 Rebirth to FF14. if they are able to do this, we will never leave FF14 ever.

  13. As weapons are concerned, i actually like this system. I think people confuse the relic weapon system with the content that was available for it. But, they are not directly connected. Bozja would still exist even if the relic weapon system wasn't bound to it. But, having it be an option is a good idea so players can play whatever content they want. The current relic weapon populated queued content just like the shadowbringers one populated the bozja raids.
I think people, myself included, just miss a zone like Bozja to enjoy. That is what Endwalker was missing and i think it's much more important to have than deep dungeons. Deep dungeons are constantly unpopulated and are awkward to queue into.

  14. At the end of the day I think the biggest issue with the EW Relics is a lack of ceremony about the whole thing. YoshiP is right in that most players these days (even those who have been around a while) play multiple jobs so it only makes sense to cater completion time more towards that than making one relic take a ton of time. And for those complaining that "casuals just get handed relic weapons now!" sorry but relics were never hard to get, they were never a challenge they were just a grind. That said, I do think at least the first weapon should take more time and effort, and we don't need a special zone or region to do it. In EW, we already have 3 variant dungeons, 1 new Deep Dungeon, Island Sanctuary, etc. They absolutely could/should have put a pathway through some/all of that content we already have to make the process at least a little more special. Let us gather things from those bits of content to fill up a bar for our first relic weapon, and then let us buy the collectables with tomestones for the subsequent weapons. Even if the basic time in reward out ratio was similar to tomestones, the process would and should feel more special.
Personally, this really feels to me like yet another failing of the community team as reading this feedback just makes it seem like the feedback YoshiP is getting from not only this Relic but the ShB one as well is confused and all over the place as if he doesn't really hear what the players are actually taking issue with.

  15. As someone who did not play Eureka & Bozja when it was current I am very thankful they didn't add something similar to the current relic progression. Eureka has been an okay side distraction, but I got hard stopped on Bozja progression so those relics are dead to me. The ARR relic grind was so rough I gave up on all relics for a long time because I thought it was required for the others.

  16. Personally, I'm VERY happy with the Manderville weapons for EW. I have not, nor will I EVER get the other weapons from the previous areas, due to the fact that 1) nobody runs them anymore, and 2) the grind makes me want to pull teeth. I am rewarded with tomes that allow me to get some gorgeous (and useful!) weapons just by playing the game, and already just via casual play, I've gotten 8 manderville weapons, and out of those, half are upgraded completely (as of rn). I don't even look at the Eureka or Bozja weapons/gear due to not wanting to feel FOMO or falling in love with one for glam. I love that EW made it easy to get some gorgeous weapons just as a reward for playing the game! Would I like to be around for a more Bozja style weapon grind later on? Sure! I missed it the first time around! But I love that more casual players can get some fun weapons, too 🙂

  17. I like the current Relic Weapon series because they are solo content. You don’t need other players engaged like you do with Borja and Eureka to make them feasible to obtain. This is the thing that needs to be balanced – when the content is not current can it be done reasonably by a solo player.
That said, I enjoyed the story side of Bozja and Eureka more than the Manderville ones. Bozja and Eureka did good world building and added to the game proper. So, loosing that entirely from now on would be bad.

Oh and the ‘macro’ bit is the crafting Relic Tools. Which I understand serious crafters wanting to be harder to make. But, that’s all I’ve got there.

  18. For the relic weapons – why not both? have the 1500 tomes and the content? I find that with some relic weapons, a certain stages stops me from progressing it (looking at you anima). the 1500 tomes could be like a 'skip' for a step as getting 1500 tomes lets you do the content you want but it does still take some time to collect.

  19. I honestly have loved the Manderville Weapons "grind" for our relic weapons. It lets me do whatever content I like doing in a casual way and I don't feel as if it's a "job" that I have to log on to do or spend HOURS on end playing on specific days to get ques or whatever. It's nice that I can do just my daily dose of things, enjoy the game, and gather what I need for the weapons. It took me FOREVER to do the ARR grind for weapons, and I've only ever completed ONE because of it… (I jokingly say I sold my soul for the ARR axe with how much time, effort, blood and sweat it took me to get – as well as a LOT of my sanity), I still have not finished a HW one… Stormblood's Eureka I never have luck with (no one is ever doing it on the island that I am on) so I have never gotten a weapon past the 2nd island's worth, and honestly, the worst one for me was Shadowbringers just because I HATED having to do the Bozja raids to get the pieces needed for it (especially dying in them and loosing the xp you had and having to regrind for it)… So I really enjoy the more laidback approach of the Manderville Weapons.

I feel like if I want to not hop in game for a week or so because I'd like to do other things in life, it's not that big of a deal and I won't be behind on my relic grind because when I DO get into game and do my dailies/things with friends, I'm gathering what I need for my relic. True, I could see how the more avid players of the game/"hardcore" players would be upset with how "easy" it is, but if they want a difficulty for it, they could go do savage content, or ultimates and still get the tomestones needed for the weapon… So there could be a "difficulty" for them in a sense. To me it just seems like this way of getting your relic is accessible for every type of player, and I'm all for that.
