FF14 On Xbox Is Becoming Really Confusing

Xbox gets a new exclusive to the platform in the form of a confusing microtransaction currency called FF14 coins for some unimaginative reason.

  1. Im not trying to start a console war because I won't be loyal to any company or product, but why would people get an XBOX at this point? Get a PC and if you can't afford it get a ps5 or a Nintendo

  2. Okay so essentially, my understanding of the situation is this:

    1. You have to have an Xbox Live (Now called "Gamepass Core") membership to play FFXIV, just like you do for any online game through Xbox.

    2. You do NOT need Gamepass Core to play the Free Trial, and FFXIV will not be added to the Gamepass Library.

    3. FFXIV Coins seem to work identically to Crysta, but for an Xbox service account.

    4. From the wording, it sounds like anything found on Mogstation or through the XIV Online Store will be available for this Xbox currency, and will be added to your account wallet as soon as you log in through Xbox after purchasing any amount.

So in summary, Playing FFXIV through Xbox requires 2 subscriptions and all transactions must be initially made through the Microsoft Store.
