Ex-Wow Player Over 1 Month Into Final Fantasy XIV Review

Welcome to my channel, I am a long lasting World of Warcraft player who has, after playing since Vanilla found a new home in Final Fantasy 14. World of Warcraft has always been a love of mine, but as the years progressed I found my time within the game begin to sour.

All logo’s, images, visual-audio content is ownered by their respective owners. Square-Enix for Final Fantasy and Activision-Blizzard for World of Warcraft

Thank you to all the love and support I have received from the Final Fantasy 14 community, even if I play like a scrub 🙂

Looking forward for #Endwalker expansion

  1. I don't know how they could possibly incentivize pvp more than they already do. There's a roulette for it. You can get tomestones from it. There's a bunch of exclusive glamours from it. There's achievements with mounts.

The only thing they could do is make the gear from it be comparable ilvl to some level of endgame pve gear of some sort, which would be strange for pvp since your gear doesn't matter in it, and also might create issues similar to what WoW has sometimes where people feel pressured to pvp to get gear for pve because sometimes the pvp gear is technically easier/more reliable than pve gear drops.

Personally, I like that pvp is just a side activity in this game. I get tired of how nearly ever mmo is either both pve and pvp (and it makes balance a nightmare) ex: WoW, or is just pvp focused ex: BDO. I think it's good for the different mmos to cater to different tastes. WoW (if they could fix all the tedious and/or annoying systems) can be the game for those who are really just into endgame and/or pvp, and FF can be the game for those who are more into the world, the story, and side content. And then there's stuff like GW2 that has a niche for people who don't like gear grinds as much.

  2. The honey moon high will pass, but unlike WoW, we will return to FF14 with a smile and anticipation, while WoW players return to it like an alcoholic returns to his vomit crusted bar.

  3. I dont care if i get downvoted or snarky replies but no i dont want pvp to improve. When you add pvp to a mainly pve game you Bring more competition and more "meta". Meta encourages toxicity by looking down on other classes. This makes an uncontrollable downwaed spiral where there a maasive difference between the best class and the worst class. There is no such disparity atm so please dont encourage it. Otherwise glad your enjoying the game

  4. The last 2 weeks is just an overload of people shittalking and quitting wow and ranking FF14 the new titan. Its crazy and I am a bit happy about it. Finally trash blizzard has to take actions and respond to players feedback to keep them

  5. Glad you're nejoying the game so much. I def need to go back into COils ad get that full Dreadwyrm set. I am also a hoarder, i pay for 2 additional retainers because of how much gear for glamour I hoard. PLEASE YOSHI, give us WoW's appearance system T-T

  6. I agree about the PvP, so many fun maps, but hard to get pops. I've read that they are working on it for the expansion. Meantime the Frontline Roulette pops fast from daily reset in the afternoon to around midnight. On EU we have people arranging Feast runs via PF announcements in the weekend as well, I am sure the US has similar.

  7. There won't be a catalog system, if you need more space for holding items the solution is to have more retainers. Or create an alt to use to hold items that are tradeable.

  8. Crafting used to have specialization. You have to buy specialized books to craft certain gear and obtain a Soul stone to specialize a crafter. This system has actually been reduced in difficulty over the expansions so pretty much the only difference is increased stats.

  9. I think something people overlook when they say they want WoW's transmog catalogue system is……. all the active value in old content would be devalued and lost. If a one time snag grants you permanent access to an item, there's decreasing demand to craft that item or loot the materials to make items. The Coils of Bahamut that you're running and mentioned market board values would drop as a natural progression of decreasing demand.

It may be small, but the limitations of the glamour dresser can spur some players to toss something and then want to get it for a different look later, so they have reason to pursue it again. I think having finite space actually encourages that aspect of the crafting economy.

    Regarding the sightseeing log:
In Heavensward, there's an NPC in the zone "Idylshire" that will sell you paintings of the vistas you've unlocked. You can then put them in 3 sizes of frames for the apt/housing.

  10. To me it seems you are in the honeymoon phase, 1 month is nothing after years of playing you will get bored just like most people do after years of wow. Combat seems slow and boring compres to wow’s

  11. I really like how customizable we can get with glamour in this game. But I really wish it was easier to register stuff like we do in wow. A catalog would be nice.

  12. Yoshi P actually answered about the glamour catalog system in a recent Q&A. He’d love to have one, but it’ll mean an entire rewrite of the glamour system because of how it’s set up. It’s been asked a few times and since he would like it, I suspect it’s something we might see some day.

So glad you’re enjoying your journey in Eorzea! I love how fun this game is.
