  1. WoW trains you into being an arsehole. It's something I noticed when playing through classic myself. People just do not want to have any fun. Most of the community are incapable of human interaction and are just joyless to speak to or play with. It's sad af. It's such a bitter community of people who just hate everything.

  2. I think he nailed it. People who have really played FF14 know it's a pretty good game. So we've been shouting it from the rafters for what feels like forever, and now finally after WoW makes some colossal screw ups, some of the big streamers are trying it.

And unlike WoW, it's interesting to see how all these streamers will react to FF14's major story beats.

  3. It has to do with how you play the game and the expectations. In FF you're playing a new game you don't know anything about and you're just progressing casually while enjoying the story, its the honeymoon phase.

In classic wow however the game was "solved" everyone expects that both yourself and others know everything about the game, that coupled with addons that clearly shows what your performance is compared to others makes for a competitive environment. If you played wow on an RP server and took things slow etc as opposed to going full neckbeard im sure you would have been surrounded with "nicer" people. If you play in a "competitive" way you can't really complain that people are not all fluffy bunny nice around you.

If you continue to play FF eventually you'll most likely either drop the game or start taking the game more seriously because few people are satisfied with playing the same game for years without any kind of investment. And if you're playing more seriously you'll have expectations of yourself and of those you play with and when people don't meet those expectations there's gonna be frustration and anger, just like there is in wow.

  4. Love how out of touch these people are with this game. It's a role playing game. Most people are trying to get invested in the story/world and make names according to that. Look at his: esfand television. Jesus christ. If people actually believe these idiots are playing FFXIV because of the love of the game and not for the views/money they are delusional. Tbh i have more respect for those who had stick with WoW or moved to something completely different which might bring less views but at least it's not copycatting the new shiny horse for bill payment.

  5. ff14 is a super casual game. its not really a good game, just something to literally waste your time on being a lazy gamer. As a gamer id rather waste my time on a better game being slightly less lazy more challenge and thinking (rpg mechanics).

after like a few days to a week of playing you will realize this. its the most casualized (stripped mechanics) experience there is.
Theres no reason not to boost in ff14, you play like everyone else, the world doesnt matter, leveling doesnt matter/its quick. nothing matters aka casual.

thats really the only reason. ff14 fans are casuals who are just annoying more than anything when talking about/'defending' their game.

if you are playing ff14 you are now in a casual mindset, you know its casual and nothing matters (plus its easy) so you arent 'toxic'. those ppl who are 'toxic' and prefer challenges and mechanics wont last in ff14 so they dont stay (cause its boring if you cant accept the casualness)

also pvp isnt even bad in ff14, its just that ff14 is full of casuals so everything they cant do means it sucks. The devs know their market though and im someone who can tone down and chill so ill play when i want to be lazy but if we are talking real here then yeah.

pvp will always have strategy no matter the game… strategy = fun. casuals dont like strategy. so devloping meta hype and viewer 'hype' is never showcased or devloped in ff14 pvp.

nd dont tell me ff14 players arent 'toxic' either, most of them always tell others to not join ques with randoms (even though the content isnt even hard and ff14 being a casual game for 'fun' said by yoshi p)

I only que with randoms for the most part and we win in the end 99% of the time. of course a few wipes happen but its a (casual) game.

  6. Before the WoW Umbral Calamity there wasn't any FF14 streamers I'd look up to. Now, there's a lot of them with different personalities and attitudes it's really exciting.

  7. I remember last week when running for the first time the patch 3.5 dungeon with 2 fellow sprouts and a flower guy. We wiped 2 times on the last boss but we were so hyped for this battle that the more experienced player was just happy to see us enjoying the story that much.

Yesterday I've run the patch 4.3 trial, same story. Most of us were sprouts doing it for the first time and the others just told us what to do and were excited for us to be so close to Shadowbringer. If I could give more than one commendation per trial / duty I would be happy to do so.

  8. Whenever I play FFXIV, I do my best to try and help out people, smile and comfort them when we make mistakes together, and join in on random conversations going on in the game to help people feel included in the game. It's the small things that help people feel more welcome in a big scary mmo and sometimes you make friends by doing this ^u^

  9. Here's the one thing I learned. Apart from those who wanted to take a quick peek, the "community" of players who returned when classic came out were not dominated by those nostalgic for the sense of wonder, exploration, adventure etc. The greatest force were the ninja looters, the kill stealers, the ganking specialists etc. They far outnumbered the few who came for the best reasons. Just like those HS classmates who never grew up…still wearing the Nirvana t-shirt, haven't left the house, think like townies etc, there are WoW players who maintain the worst attributes of their former selves…just like the bullies they were.

So, now the servers are empty. Most of those Blizz wish they had back to stay have left after the second week. Now the tools rule. There are a few dead servers where small groups play unmolested but that's not the rule across the game.

As far as this content goes, both Esfand and Asmongold built their reps off of being edgy…they were exactly like those that they decry today. They ganked noobs, ninja looted, and caused problems for those not in their group…even on non-pvp servers. So, you can go back 4 or 5 years and watch the content…its still out there. Asmons whole rep while growing his YT presence was based on Big D**…he can do what he wants…he ninja looted all the time and "f** them for letting me." He raided guild banks without apology. He retold those stories with glee. The people who found that entertaining became his followers.

The problem for the morons who follow these idiots is that it is no longer fashionable to be an asshole…especially when you're 30+…people expect more from adults than 16 year old HS students. The reason that the idiots are struggling to follow to FFXIV is that they have to learn a whole new game. But that will only keep them down for so long.

Square won't be responsible for this coming change in the community just as Blizzard wasn't responsible. The reason that, within 1 year, the FFXIV community will be in disarray is because the lingering horde ( pun intended…as most aholes play horde…how badass of them) of past WoW idiots will develop all the skills they need to become a force to destroy this game.

Blizzard was right about one thing…a subset of the WoW community made it impossible for the community as a whole to remain healthy. Just like what happens in a neighborhood when a gang moves in…life goes to hell. And guess who's coming to dinner?

  10. Isn't this because you have to compete less against one another in FFXIV? Whereas in Classic, PvP areas and loot are constantly fought over, which often results in streamers becoming greedy overlords and the communities resenting them for it? I remember the WoW streamers like Esfand and Asmon becoming extremely bitchy when they ended up on the losing end of things, especially in the legendary Advertise saga.

  11. I can't even begin to describe how mortified my FC was when we saw the people harassing Asmon on his stream. I don't think I was ever more disappointed in this community, knowing there's no reasonable way you can attribute that only to WoW fans. It does make me proud though that a lot of people in the community stepped up in the aftermath to condemn the behavior and give them all a proper welcome.

  12. The community is the best one ever! I remember 1 week ago in the dungeon in South Thanalan(I don't remember the name and I'm lazy to google it) we wiped like 5+ times on first boss. We were 3 sprouts, 1 resubed person (crowned sprout) and a veteran which said he didn't do this dungeon in 2 years and don't remember the mechanics of the bosses. No one wanted to check it online or raged at all untill we figured it out and complete it. The feeling of accomplishment is such cases is like a drug, this is how a game should be! PS: The rest of the dungeon was a piece of cake. 🙂

  14. From Jesse Cox video. In a way it’s systematic egoism that WoW has for long time that’s the problem.
Everyone new/old have heard/seen or taught on you have to be better then the other player regardless on what faction their on. Because of this immediately many try to lvl up, get max content, quickly get gear, over power ppl on pvp or overshadow ppl in pve. Even for casual things like pet/mount collecting theres egoism on who has how many or when they acquire it. Commit time just grind or sit there for eons (timeless protosdrke is one) to get that mount and have a dick size mount off with ppl.
Played since 2009 and quit WoW late last year. Like most others bit pissed I didn’t invest into ff14 sooner after years of bullshit that game has and mentality majority of ppl got. Especially wod years I despised that more then shadowlands.
If ppl ask “why stayed that long up to late last year.” Still had few friends to hang out with till about mid way though bfa. Then from there sorta grinned through bfa for shit then played shadowlands, few months later I officially tired and done with the game. One of my friends told me about ff14 and decide to give it a shot and since then so far didn’t regret it.

  15. I mean tbf, any little community would be happy seeing their topic gaining visibility and would hug people who are making this happen. Where I live, years ago nobody played WoW, and I showed the game for them and they started playing. At that time I was doing everything I could to help and making them like the environment, because I was happy for having people playing the game I loved with me. I am not trying to say that they're not nice for doing that btw, just saying that most of them are doing with that mindset, which is awesome too!

  16. The reason I really think FF14 has a better community is because there isn't such a necessity in that game to run content like running +15 keys every week and unless you're really playing at the top level and running extremes and ultimates, most of the time having a person in your group that isn't pulling their weight isn't the end of the world. Meanwhile on WoW, if you're running a key with someone who isn't pulling their weight, everyone can see their bad dmg, you lose *minutes* on your dungeon timer from their deaths and mobs/bosses depending on the week will take much longer to die. WoW's content that needs to be run every week really showcases how bad inexperienced players can be which I don't think exists in FF14 until extremes and ultimate content which most of the player-base don't actually do. There just isn't as much of a necessity for players to play well at the casual levels of the game and in my opinion, that keeps the community a lot more accepting of newer players.

Additionally, FF14 has much more content in it that isn't as serious as WoW. There are very few things that I can play casually in WoW that feel meaningful or rewarding while FF14 has many pieces of content that don't require large skill caps or solid knowledge of the encounters like Bozja, Eureka, PotD/HoH, etc. I'm basically trying to say, in many of the things that people run every week on WoW, there's an excessive amount of opportunities for players around you to drag you down if they don't know exactly what to do. This fosters an elitist attitude in many better players of the game and I imagine those who can't break into that 'elitist' group likely aren't around for very long because of how much they get dogged on by all the players who expect their whole group be perfect.

  17. Most of the dislike for streamers I saw when Classic WoW came out was due to the fact that the original game had no streamers, and in 2019 it created an inorganic ecosystem on certain servers where players were given preferential treatment or were able to organize massive events that they wouldn't be able to otherwise just because they were popular outside of the game. I know there has been some "streamer bad" toxicity outside of that, but it was still the main reason.

I can understand not wanting to be on the same server as a player who is extremely disruptive when they are online because of the number of people they have orbiting them, giving them gold/items, and following their commands.

  18. One thing that i catched up playing FFXIV is that alot of people sems to like Asmongold they are less hatefull towards him, in WoW have played it for 14 years, like 80% of the people i played with sems to hate Asmongold, but in FFXIV after 3-4 weeks i havent seen anyone hating on him. People are just excited to see him testing out the game.

  20. Sure people who already at the 5.5 FFXIV knows it's really a good and will gladly welcome anyone to try it. On the other end, there are some ignorant people out there who spam the Youtube with comments like 'FFXIV sucks'. No kidding they never played it and just being silly, but when they started spamming that everywhere it is really annoying.

  21. "As soon as you log in to classic, it feels like everybody hates you"

This was literally my entire experience with WoW. Picked up a battle chest when Burning Crusade first launched, and for 30 days I had to slog through servers absolutely congested with the most toxic players I think I've ever encountered in any mmorpg. It was for that reason that I never bothered extending the subscription, and I turned away from that game forever.
