Eden's Promise | FFXIV: Shadowbringers

Hellooo! This is all of Eden’s Promise!

Hope you enjoy this one ^^
The mechanics for the fights were a little tricky for me even if it was my first time, so I kept dying to them, haha;;

There are also some scenes I was a little confused about, but by now I already know about who Gaia was before and her relationship with Mitron, and eventually their involvement with Emet-Selch and their plans for The First from how Cylva was explaining before in her own quest.

Next video will be up on Thursday, so please look forward to it.

  1. Never thought I’d get so emotional in the middle of a fight because I see two teen girls having coffee biscuits.

But anyways, this concludes the raid series about Uriange’s in-law son Thancred, and Thancred’s Daughter Ryne, and Ryne’s wife Gaia.

  2. My favorite part of the eden story line. All of the fights were so much fun! Especially E11 and E12. Savage mode though was so much fun too! And your reaction to E11 was spot on the exact se as my co-tank when we did normal mode. Keep being awesome and thanks for all the awesome content, cant wait for the next vid!

  3. I looooved the story of this raid, especially this last part. It ties into the MSQ a lot more than the previous raid series'. I think the Omega raids had better fights generally (especially the savage only boss phases), but the story and the reimagined primals (and the remixes of the primal tracks omg) were really good.

Gaia/Loghrif originally was originally supposed to be the heart of Zodiark when she was a member of the convocation of fourteen, but then Mitron convinced her to back out of it and Elidibus had to step up. It's crazy to think about really.

  4. Mitron's so funny as a villain, he's like 'yeah my friends have abandoned me and my flesh turned into a torturous prison that I was trapped in for a century' and you're like 'oh wow that sucks' and then he's like 'also I'm homicidally attached to my ex' and then you're like 'oh :/ well that's not good.'

As a queer FF14 player, something fun about Eden's Promise is that it feels at time queerbait-y in its vagueness with Ryne's and Gaia's relationship but also the literal plot is 'Mitron tries to get Gaia to love him so he erases memories of his rival in her affection, Ryne, and then Gaia and Ryne reenact the ending of FF8 (the romance one) and then hold each other next to A Giant Rainbow Crystal' and it's like, what do you want me to take from this. Besides the fact that they are gay. also ryne is a homewrecker lol

  5. Not sure if you know, but Cyella got a new questline after 5.3 to follow up with "Shadow Walk With Me." It does require that you finish the Warring Triad series of primals from Heavensward. You might enjoy it!

  6. Last comment I hope, but the comment about having Gaia go tell them is a reference to the fact that she's an Ascian, and thus theoretically could simply cross the rift. Of course, it wouldn't be a great idea since she'd have to leave her body behind.

  7. Memories are some of the most cherished things that we as a species have, so seeing them be toyed with is often disturbing

Be it dementia or general trauma/gaslighting, this storyline was pretty emotional.

Mitron and loghriff might've been honest and true love thing, but a healthy love knows when to end.

  8. The whole segment with Gaia walking in darkness, and Ryne comming for her with the explosion of flowers, is a Final Fantasy 8 Reference, actually the whole Eden set of raids is based off FF8, along with the Gunbreaker job itself.

  9. Just two best friends embracing in a field of flowers in a recreation of the romantic scene in FF8 between Squall and Rinoa with a giant rainbow crystal in the background. Yup.

Can't imagine why there was SO much Ryne x Gaia fanart after this raid tier, even more than before 😛

  10. Some fun trivia. Mitron’s name might be based off the name Metatron, which might translate to as “protector” or “keeper.” Some spellings cite it as ‘Mīṭaṭrūn.’ A lot of the Ascian names are derived from Hebrew or biblical texts.
