  1. I think after watching this I agree both with the people experiencing content drought and the people who say there is plenty to do. It is really dependent on who you are as a player if it is a problem or not.

  2. The largest content drought is at the end of an expansion because S-E starts to hold everything for the expansion update. There's definitely a drop off and extended time between the patches in terms of content (other than story) to do. V.5 -> V.55 -> V+1.0 always ends up feeling like a long extended patch by an additional month or two (occasionally more) and I think they do need to do something about it.

  3. But but but there is no content drought as a new player i have ALOT of stuff to do such as pony farms and job levels

Jokes aside.. I never noticed or bothered me until 5.2, there was barely anything to do for me as i stopped savage raiding and when the relic step dropped? It was a joke and the trial was useless

  4. My opinion of playing this game on and off since 1.x is that people complain way too much. I have never seen an mmo push out content like FFXIV. Just because a patch may not have something each player is in too, be it pvp , a raid , dungeon, glam, story etc. is not a " Lack of content ". is just a lack of what YOU want too do. That is not how any game works. No game, albeit unless it focuses on one gameplay mode, is like that. No game makes content to cater to YOUR individual play style. That being said having story and pve updates on a fairly regular basis is amazing. I will however agree 1000%, PvP content needs some help. I will never pretend otherwise. This Pandemic definitely hurt things and this will be the longest stretch (i think?) without an update but as yoshi p says, play another game. o/

  5. I personally don't feel a drought, but I play 6 hours a week. I think FFXIV absolutely is a casual game. The fact that someone like me can get through the hardest content. If I were are hardcore raider I'd probs get bored pretty quick.

  6. for me there is plenty of content, and for me. I play super slow, im not done with my relic second final step and when thats done i got to do the next and even then. I still got to do a other set of stuff like story. So im close to done, but at the same time im stretching out in order to not lose content and burn myself out.

top it off it helps i got so many rpgs/jrpgs and adventure games

  7. I think it's worth noting that covid delay between 5.2 and 5.3 really exasperated this issue.

I wish they would really go out with PvP content because that's usually where the evergreen stuff is in MMOs.

There's stuff to do. Much of it is really undesirable. Crafting and such is boring and oversaturated. Can't get into housing because that's nigh on impossible. Roulettes is something everyone does and it's not really meaningfully challenging or thoughtful. Relic is great but eventually people will drop it until the next content drought in Endealker (we all know people will head back into Eureka and Bozja). Once the initial Endwalker msq is done.

What's funny is that Eureka and Bozja is what the game needs in its overworld. But they are both relegated as separate instances. If they refined certain systems and made them relevant beyond just random fates like they are now, the overworld would be more lively and meaningful. Bi color gemstones are a step in the right direction for this.

Overall the game has content. It's just largely obsolete or undesirable for the average person, especially if you don't have friends and like PvP.

  8. im impressed how much stuff they managed to release during the pandemic. i can gues that the content that will be released on endwalker will be bigger since the pandemic calming down.

  10. Considering we've had very consistent updates for the past 2 years, and there was the whole pandemic lock downs, I'm fine with waiting 6 months for the next expansion. At least the delay was communicated to us in a timely manner and they are using the extra time to make the game better.
