  1. Desperius I think you do a real disservice only watching some of the original video. To me the video is structured poorly in that it kind of builds up to the most blatant example of where he clearly couldn't be doing it blind, so by not commenting/showing the full video you really aren't getting the entire picture. There are a few other prog raiders who started out very neutral about it as well, but by the time they get to the end of the video they are like "oh yeah, he's definitely lying". If you care enough to weigh in, you should look at the entire video as a whole, not just the first half.

  2. I don't think FF fans understand. Limit don't give a fuck what the community will think of them, they will go back to WoW eventually and not look back, this is a stop gap, like going on holiday and doing all sorts of wild shit, then going back home and forgetting about it, because it wouldn't affect them where they are from.

  3. Max didn't deserve this BS treatment in the video. Completely ruined FFXIV for him and turned him off of blind prog all together.

There was NO hard evidence what so ever and no motive for him to even lie to begin with.

Watch E1S if you wanna see what it looks like when he's not blind in a fight and compare it to the rest of the fights they do.

I fucking despise it when people get thrown under the bus off of a hunch or a feeling. It's even worse when people don't even know the history of the person getting thrown under the bus and are just excited to jump on them.

  4. Moments like these are why i think u are a joke of a content creator. Why cover drama if you are not gonna take a real stand and just sugar coat it? You make class ranking videos even though u never actually clear savage fights. Coming from a player that ranks top 100 constantly, i can attest from talking to others that no one in the high level scene takes your opinions seriously. Are you really saying people are taking it too seriously that he straight up lied to them while giving the impression that he was some big brain player who can just jump into a new game and master like that? Imagine the backlash a ff player would get from the wow community if they did this. Even if you are a super casual player who is watching for fun, you would hate being lied to. Just because the ff community is nice does not mean they would be ok with being played like this.

  5. Supposedly Max would get pissed if he wasnt the one "figuring" out the fights
He wanted to appear to be this quick learning 5head.
Yeah, except his method of figuring things out was basically slapping the viewrs in the face, assuming people are too stupid to notice what he was really up to.
Not a 5head, & needs mods to hold his little hand while he "hardcore" raids.

I personally dont give a shit on what methods people choose for their raids.
If you say your group is going to do blind prog, great!
However if you say the same thing & lie…. well, the only thing he's shown everyone is he has no integrity.

  6. Maybe it’s just because I’ve gotten too old to care, but while scummy I just can’t be bothered to even notice this guy’s less than honest shenanigans. Just seems like a flash in the pan in the grand scheme of things.

  7. Isn't it more entertaining to see someone succeed after 50 tries than 5 tries. I see that a lot in speedrunning. Those who don't give up but grind every single day achieve greatness, that happens because they conquered failure through hard work. You can't lie when there is evidence in video games. You'll get caught. So many times, there's been ego. I doubt i would figure things out without tanking the floor for 100 years, in any game. Most of the time we see success on screen, not failure, not reality. Success is the result of failing 99% of the time.

  8. The fact of the matter is, unless you’re a viewer of max who was actually lied too and bamboozled, you cannot speak on this situation imo. If you weren’t a part of the viewers being lied too, this does not affect you in the slightest. Whether you think it has some random repercussions for you, it does not, people need to calm tf down and move on, he lied about blind runs, big whoop, unless it’s genuinely new content, I will never understand why you’d believe a ‘blind run’ statement. You lot are too trusting in your streamers lmao.

  9. They probably use that mod that tells em where to go / what to do during mechanics too, I know someone who used that from wow said it was like deadly boss mod.
These wow guys are just wanting to beat this content "blind" as fast as possible to make FF players look bad, that's really all it is.

  10. How I see it is that Max is the leader of one of the worlds best raiding warcraft guilds his integrity when it comes to all things raider should be sacrosanct, but by claiming he was doing all these raids totally blind and lying to his audience undermines his credibility. That to me is why the deception in this case is significant even more so for the "NO BACKSEATING" messages to his audience, accusing other members of his team of having prior knowledge the hypocrisy really bites.

  11. For a streamer to be dishonest and disingenious is really bad. Its not so much about Max doing it blind or not its about the expectation he sets for his viewers. He clearly cheated his viewers out of a blind prog.

I mean what your basicly telling everyone in this video is that its ok to lie and decieve your twitch viewers as long as they had fun watching.

  12. I'd understand his knowledge of the cloud thing so quickly if he played original ARR 24 man raids. During the World of Darkness final boss (that is also Cloud of Darkness) you do the same thing to slow the clouds down. It's not so important these days because Level Sync from 80/90 gear makes old content a joke with the way stats are synced. He's pulling what so many other streamers are right now. They're all trying to jump on a few big streamers success from playing FFXIV and pretending to be doing things blind. I've seen some pretend to do the MSQ blind too on stream but if you look back in their video logs 5 years, they used to play FFXIV ….

  13. This is the 1% complaining about the 1%

Yeah, he was dishonest. We should recognize that

But ultimately this impacts only his audience and they can decide if they like it. Dont really like seeing Simon use his platform to try call him out, but hey. Content creators gotta eat

  14. I don't think the clip is out there anymore, but one that stood out to me was during E12S – someone suggested a strat and Max slipped and said "that isn't in any uptime strat I've seen".

  15. You're being wayyy too nice and forgiving.

Taking away "glory" or "clout" or whatever motivations to come off as a "blind run expert" that anyone may think comes with it. Max and his business benefit from the clout and status as being "blind prog raid experts". You're very naive if you don't see that.

  16. 3:30 I genuinely believe there is drama only because he was advertising his runs as blind and not doing them blindly. I watch those people to find their opinion on FFXIV and how they compare it to WoW. I played WoW way more than FFXIV back in a day and i tried returning in shadowlands but got burned out and switched to ffxiv.
I didn't watch them to fail on mechanics as you said because i honestly don't care about those fights that much. So I'm either an exception, and most people feel like that, or it's just you projecting. (And i don't mean it in an insulting way, just that oftentimes people assume that everyone must feel in a similar way they do)
I watched them only because i wanted to see what High end and long-time players tho about FFXIV and how it plays to each other. And being dishonest about doing it blind for w/e reason he did that made me question if he is giving an honest opinion on the game or is he trying to make it look easier than it actually is. (Not saying he did it just made me question why he did it) also, I'm pretty sure there were people who used subscriptions or donated money to him thinking he was genuinely trying to do it blindly when he wasn't, basically tricking those people so those people might feel scammed but i cant talk for them maybe they are okay with it.
EDIT: Tho saying he "Cheated" is being overdramatic IMHO

  17. @desperius FFXIV go watch his very first mog talk and see his attitude . Sure I and everyone know as a streamers u guys cover each other backs but not so blindly. You could have ignored this vids or shouldn’t give out a very one sided opinion. If Max was an honest guy he wouldn’t be so sensitive that he had to stop streaming ffxiv

  18. Would like to mention as someone from the WoW scene that has come into FF14 over the last two years or so. Max streamed himself doing some fights before this recent exodus from WoW to FF14 last July. Obviously these vods are most likely not accessible anymore but I remember knowing max did this since he's hosted a friend of mine back during BFA when a lot of us were slowly becoming more and more disenchanted with playing WoW all the time and before shadowlands beta. This would be sometime in 2020 I think?

Anyway, I think I've heard him be up front about this and over time its become twisted that he was doing this on purpose but I myself may still not know the entire situation.

That aside I dont really think this is a big deal. Just don't support the guy if it bothers you? Maybe its holding him accountable? I dont know. I just think its odd the ff14 vs wow debate is still happening with raiding when anyone who has done both at the high end knows theres so many differences between how a tier is shaped in its difficulty that its hard to pinpoint which one is "harder".

  19. This 100% is not "cheating", having knowledge before going into a new, current fight would be cheating. Looking up a video of how to do old content is not cheating. He's lying not cheating.

    Reply
  20. Yea..i would agree but my issue is that he lied and did not own up to it like a man. Otherwise I don't really care if he cheated 🤷 the fact he lied to many people to their faces is another issue altogether.

  21. I couldn't care less if he did it Blind or not. I care more when he lies that he is doing it blind when he clearly isn't. Not to mention the fact he was giving others in the group crap that they might of look it up. It really made me think far less of him as a person. If he was just honest I couldn't care less if he peeked and looked up certain things about a fight.

  22. He achieved 38th in the world in his first legit tier… y’all… chill… I’m still going through the video in fairness… but this cloud one is obvious. First he’s saying hold up because he sees an add going toward the boss and not him or his Allies, then as hes talking he noticed that it had slowed… we’ve had mechanics like that in WoW it’s not novel.

  23. "Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, I'm going to flagrantly insult the XIV community by assuming they are too stupid to know that I'm full of sh*t." The problem with this is that it's insulting the part of our community who ACTUALLY run savage blind when a new raid tier drops. Lying is not okay and this dude lied about running content blind in order to generate attention for himself assuming that nobody would realize he clearly had prior encounter knowledge.

  24. While the video does stir up drama and the title is a tad bit extreme I think the video was more to tell people what was actually happening. It speaks more to Max's values if he is willing to lie about pretending to be super smart about mechanics in a fight. Also I don't think SimonFawkes ever said this was the only context that he was looking forward to, just that he was excited for it and willing to help with moderation but lost interest when it wasn't what it was advertised as even if it was just one person. It cheats his teammates from having a full blind progression by being given major hints much earlier than usual to understand a mechanic that they might have figure out themselves.

  25. And before the cringe comments about "who cares" and "ff community toxic" comes you have to realize that 99,9999999% of FF players dont know who max is or even care who he is. But still its okay to call him out on his bullshit especially when he lies and has monetary gain

  26. the thing is that max is a really really good player: he was a great player in wow and he's already cleared asphodelos savage on all 3 roles. but it's often the best players that feel the desire to cheat. i still like max but a lot of this stuff is pretty indefensible
