Criterion Dungeon Rewards SUCK! [FFXIV 6.25]

The rewards for the content suck. Criterion Dungeons are AMAZINGLY FUN CONTENT I LOVE TO RUN, but most people want great rewards for their time they invest into doing something and Criterion Dungeon rewards SUCK. What is up with the purple chair?

  1. ITT: people beg for harder dungeons then when they see what hard content in this game is like they come up with excuses not to engage with it. Also, silkie is not savage level. It’s hard to do blind but once you know it it’s quite short and simple. Much more can go wrong in a run of p5s and p6s. The second boss is quite simple mechanically. If you don’t do the mechs and get hit, guess what you’ll have a bad time. The third boss does have some tougher spatial visualizing but banish has a brain dead solution already and the cord break mech just takes a little practice. This is what “harder” content in this game is like. If you don’t like it then you just don’t like harder content (Which is totally fine, just quit pretending you don’t do savage cuz it’s too hard to get 8 and then when the 4 man comes out complain that the rewards aren’t what you wanted). At some point it’s just clear that lots of people don’t want to do harder content that requires progression. It’s not about gearing or convenience it’s just not wanting to do it (which again is totally fine).

  2. The problem is, this is a savage fight and only 4 players, there’s not much room for people without 630 gears, and how many players have completed P8S and have their BIS gear for this basically “no rewards” dungeon? This is just not for many casual players

  3. Hard to separate rewards from difficulty as the two are linked. Criterion normal was sold as extreme difficulty but has ended up more like p7s. The expectation to enter is clearing at least p5s & p6s from week 1. It is overtuned. Now combine that with poor rewards and mid core players like me just say nope not worth it(maybe just once for the challenge to clear)

The majority of casual players, that play well enough that want to try it, face massive hurdles: huge difficulty spike, expectation of savage gear combined with poor rewards. The game needs more mid core 4 man content but this isn’t it.

Hopefully the devs will still continue with this but really focus on having worthwhile rewards and actually tuning the challenge level. We don’t need 2 extra savage 4 mans, 1 was sufficient.

  4. I'm just here to get the two mounts, my Noir glam and troll my buddy in these dungeons xD I understand why people are upset though of course, just please remember to be respectful towards each other and the devs :3

  5. If they could ensure it can only gear up alt jobs somehow and its not the first source of high end gearing for a character, I think that would go a long way in breaking the ice for this – eventually moving on to it being developed as an endgame path alongside raiding. But its important to first break that barrier in peoples minds.

We have this problem still today in WoW with M+ players being treated as second class citizens in terms of gearing. Even people pushing world first keystones (which are insanely hard, borderline impossible without some SERIOUS cheese bullshit mind you due to infinite scaling) are forced to also do top tier mythic raiding because the gear you get from M+ is the same as heroic raid (think extreme ilvl vs savage ilvl) even though they only care about pushing M+. Thats where they spend their week outside of Tuesday raid night.

  6. I would add gear reward ilvl 615 and here is why: At this moment gearing a job is painfully slow since you have 2 ways to do it with savage or tomes. We all know how slow is gearing with tomes since we have the 450 cap per week. Now with savage we have 2 options. 1 being part of a static but if you play tank or healer you are not gear priority or 2 using pf and be at the rng mercy. With current day methods gearing one job is slow and gearing a second job almost impossible. This is why I belive criterion should add gear reward so we have another options to gear ourselves and 615 is a good ilvl below tomes and savage so they remain as the top gear of the the patch but allow "casual ( with this I mean people that not play savage since week 1 ir are still learning a floor) and bad luck players (the ones that use pf method for savage) to get better gear so savage fights are a tiny bit easier.

  7. I'm honestly struggling with the game's direction lately. Between this and Yoshi Ps recent statements about the lack of healers in PF it's starting to feel like the people behind the game aren't as in touch with its players than I used to believe.

I used to be a raider years back, and now I'm a much more casual player and I question what content there is for me to truly enjoy. I was thinking these dungeons might be a way for me to enjoy somewhat more challenging content without needing to commit to a raid static/schedule, but it sounds like you have to do both? We need some midcore content, with value to replay it.

  8. Because the criterion have the "savage" classification tied to it, then just do a token that you can trade for twine or shine (oil, whatever).
Outside the book idea, why not also add a token that can be traded for a book for the current raid floors. Say you cleared P5S-P7S, then you could use the token to buy any book for those floors you have cleared before, but not P8S until you have cleared it.
Speeds up collecting books for whatever floor you need an item for.

Real reason it will not have a 620, or equivalent later on, gear is because the 24-man drops that same ilvl and they restrict that gear as well. :/
They might think people will not do the 24-man if you can get gear earlier from criterion.

  9. The rewards for savage content in general are always kind of “meh” if we are realistic. Regular savage you get some stat differences and 1 point of weapon damage over someone whose never stepped foot in a pf party. Seems like devs don’t want people of a casual level to feel left out of the really good stuff. With that comes a bit of a shafting to the players who want to do hard content. Idm because I enjoy content for the sake of content. Even hard stuff, but I also understand why people would feel the opposite.

  10. Hot take: Why y'all not just playing the game for fun? If you really need an extra fancy reward to keep coming doing content, are you actually having fun with it? I still do a bunch of eureka and (while there is some gil to be made), it's hardly enough to be the reason for me to do it. The rewards are there to go "Hey, here's a thing to show that you liked the content". They even made just about everything sellable on the marketboard so you can turn your criterion clears into money. What are you all complaining about?

Critique on criterion, if sqex is going to put the iLvl sync they gotta give non-raiders a way to get better gear from Criterion. Otherwise, they need to go the Eureka/Bozja root of having a really tight iLvl sync with dedicated armor/weapons/stats to enhance your performance in criterion dungeons. As iLvl is essentially power, the only way to prepare for criterion is to do raids, which is disappointing.

  11. I guess I'm in the minority here but I have been having an absolute blast in criterion and savage. It's gruelling and punishing but for me the reward is the fun I'm having with my team. We did it blind and we never get to prog anything blind basically ever, and the challenge was so enjoyable.

  12. when i look at the Criterion and Variant dungeons and the rewards it just kinda just makes me shrug and go "why would i want to play this when i can just run better looking mounts and have fun doing something else?" there's nothing worth while aside from Silkie which comes from the Variant dungeons. the throne is well, at best mediocre for a savage difficulty activity. the glamour set i feel is underwhelming, the earings are okay i guess? however why do that when i could go solo PoD or HoH and get cooler looking weapons, glam, mounts, and titles. i like the idea of criterion dungeons since im a former wow player this feels homey, but i dont feel like just running it for "fun"(again subjective term to everyone") is validating. people are motivated by material things. glamour that looks good, mounts that are a $5 walmart chair, fancy/lofty titles, and cool looking weapons. hopefully this isn't all they have planned for the dungeons, there's so much opportunity to be had especially with ul'dah themed weapons, glamour, mounts, titles, etc.

  13. just shows that the devs stopped caring about their subscribers. its been 9 weeks of the same shit, no deep dungeon or exploration zone tbh nothing to do

  14. They did the same thing for PoTD and HoH, but at least you coild get cool glowie weapons out em. The devs really need to expand upon the reward system for alternative content to keep them going.

  15. The fault fro SE doesn't start with the rewards. Start from the criterion dungeon. Why in name of F is the same as Savage but with 1 raise? Are they stupid. Criterion suppose to be a casual with Good difficulty and keep the Savage for the braindead. Who spent months on practice of these.

  16. The Halloween event gear is way better than the glam noir gear you get for clearing the variant dungeon. I got all 12 routes, got the mount, and I have no interest in doing it again. Never mind Savage Criterion xD I'll just keep tending to my Island and working on the new tribal quests. Shame they only added one relic quest. But I guess asking everyone to get through the Hildibrand quest line to even start it was a lot to ask. I dunno, savage just does not interest me purely based on rewards vs time put in. I did a lot in Shadowbringers, but I much prefer doing savage runs for the older stuff that you can do in a few minutes, than spending hours for one clear.

  17. I agree that Criterion Dungeons should have an alternate gearing method similar to Bojza, not sure about making the Tomestone gear upgrade items a reward becuase that crosses to much into what the 24 Man raids do with the Coins.
