In this video we will explore the differences of Tailoring in World of Warcraft and Weaving in Final Fantasy 14. Both games have gone a complete different direction and targeting different audiences.

One thing to note when you craft, there is an orb present and it changes color to telegraph the efficacy of your next move, A white orb means your next move goes out at normal potency, if the orb goes dark purple your next move will have a reduced effect (for example if u try to up the quality it will still increase but by a diminished amount) but i believe CP recovery moves are not affected so you can essentially "Pass" on that turn, if the orb is red or prismatic then your next move effecting the item you're making will be supercharged and this is the best time to up the quality if you're trying to HQ an item (HQ abbreviation stands for High-Quality, it is a adjective [if describing an item's properties noted by the swoosh symbol an item can have] and a verb [if you're in the process of making an item] from FFXI's MMO jargon). So not only do you have to plan out your crafting moves, you also have to get an idea of what to do if a road block like a bad turn pops up at the worst time. Bear in mind I haven't crafted since 2.0 so it's entirely possible they changed what the different colors of the orb means (the devs have gone over and adjusted the crafting system at least twice since 2.0 launch the most recent being the 5.0 expansion launch updates). Also for the endgame gear you mentioned, you can actually upgrade them even further and +10 it's item level but this is only implemented in a patch or two AFTER (to the best of my recollection) that end game crafted gear in question had their recipes added to the game, this is meant to help players have more choice to catch up in gear underlining Naoki Yoshida and the XIV dev's philosophy of "It's ok to unsub if you feel like it. Come back when you' feel like it." sorry for the TED talk lol and if I happen to be misinformed I'm sure someone will be able to correct me (in which case my apologies for any errors).
EDIT: Apologies, where are my manners. Congrats on your channel growing as it has Executer ^^b. Hope you enjoy your stay in XIV and to any WoW players who read this and are looking to try XIV I'll say this: If you decide to try XIV just bear in mind, how you engage with the story and what pace you wish to progress, it's all valid even if I (or others) might not agree with it (since I got a lot of enjoyment out of the story for example) I hope y'all enjoy your time with the game however long or brief, and more importantly I hope it can make you appreciate your main online game; if not more so then at the very least in a way that would not have occurred to you previously. Y'all stay safe and be well.
When you reach heavensward crafting you can "Specialize" 3 crafting classes by talking to an NPC in ishgard. He gives you 3 Soul of a Crafter stones and you can select 3 of any of the crafters to give them to and you get essentially a buff to the stats of those 3 crafters. You can swap your 3 specialist class choices around but only 3 times per week and you need 480 of a special currency called crafter's scrips which is earned by making collectible items from heavensward crafting onwards to buy more souls of a crafter.
Crafting is very good for endgame too. You can create gear to help raiders. You can get master books which offer expert recipes and youll need to try get your craftsmanship /control/cp as high as possible. Also a great way to earn gil
u have end game crafting/gathering , special instances and relics weapons and tools for each crafting and gathering jobs . Exclusive content just for people loves them. The hardest mount can only be obtained in end game crafting , the dinosaur bird Pterodactyl mount with many other exclusive items to sell and make some big big Money.
i love ffxiv crafting
Just wait until you start doing gathering as Fisher, oh boi.. collecting all the legendary fish takes quite a while.
It’s also quite intricate, such as multiple abilities, mooching a fish to get another fish, time of day matter, weather in game matter etc etc.. but it’s really fun.
Another amazing video! Food that is designed to help crafter stats can help you out too if you need a bit of extra stats, or using a crafter workbench that matches the class you are using if your free company has one in their free company house
gatherers and crafters in this game have an endgame. which is amazing in and of itself.
For context about item level, Exarchic gears (currently higherst level crafted gear) have item level of 510, which is the same as Edenmete gears from normal raid. High quality gears have same base stat with extra perk of being able to hold up to 5 materia while normal raid gear can hold up to 2.
The crafted gear can be later turned in at and NPC with some extra currency to get new gear at item level of 520, the same as gear purchased with tomestones (think valor point). These mean you can use crafted gears in Savage Raid and some might be BiS before you get drop from Savage Raid itself.
Also, leveling up crafting and gathering classes also give extra perks:
1. You can repair your own gears with Dark Matter items, which is cheaper than paying gil to NPC. You can also do it anywhere. Furthermore, your repair add 100% durability on top of current durability, allow item to last longer (NPC can only set durability to 100%, no extra). If you repair item at 50%, it gets to 150% instead of 100%.
2. You can meld materia into your own gear or do it for other players. While NPC can also meld materia, NPC cannot meld further than 1-2 slot item normally have. Only player with enough crafting skill can meld up to 5 materia (called Advanced Melding in-game, although people usually refer to that as penta-meld). If you can craft it, you can meld it.
3. If you have retainers (NPC that also act as bank and Market board seller for you), They can be put in gathering class to gather item for you. Since retainer's class level cannot exceed player's class level, however, you need your gatherer class level high if you want to have high level retainers. They also cannot gather item that you have not personally gathered.
Your crafted PLD gear (Exarchic) can be upgraded to Augmented Exarchic in Shadowbringers secondary hub city (520 gear).
You may have just not wanted to clutter the screen or have too much to discuss in one video, but just in case you missed it (missing things in FF14 is easy, there's always some new feature or option to discover), if you click 'Calculations' at the bottom of the crafting dialog, you get a panel that will show how much progress/quality you will gain from each available action, including current buffs like Innovation or Veneration and so on. This can help a lot when deciding what to do.
Crafting had many overhauls since ARR. They used to have cross class skills, so for high-end crafts you NEED to have all 8 crafting jobs leveled. Specialist used to have more different actions too, now become just a stat increase. At first I don't like the change but now I'm ok with it. They had to make crafting more fun and less convoluted, more accessible to new players too.
crafter àn gatherer even have an end game content, your server have to restore a freaking town nearly as big as a starting city, each milestone your server get, you unlock more story and physical change in the town, from an empty town to a full flesh city
I love the crafting in FF14
way better than the dull of wow's
Oh I knew this one wouoldnt even be fair when I read the title
We all noticed how the skill requirements for the crafting professions in WoW Shadowlands 9.0 were pretty low compared to previous expansions. I just presumed that there would be additional skill requirements as well as new recipes added in patch 9.1. However, Blizzard has not increased the skill requirements or added new recipes ( aside from crafter's marks) to crafting professions in 9.1. It seems that Blizzard is paying less and less attention to crafting in Wow.
Also, don't forget, your name will be etched into items you craft. This is another way of accomplishments you feel when you craft things. So basically if you are the sole crafter in your server, you can run into people wearing your name on their gear.
As the champion of Dellemont d'Or and a trade mentor, I just want to say that all I know is copying macros from ashe10 to cook some Smoked Chickens.
You know they are doing something right when people keep getting distracted by side content instead of progressing or leveling.
I originally disregarded crafting in FF14, because the Main Story quests give out all the items and armor that you need, I thought nobody would buy anything crafted. But it's wrong. People play different classes and once the main story quest is done, there's no other way for them to obtain good gear except through dungeons or crafting, but to do well in dungeons you also need good gear in the first place. Crafting also plays a major role end-game.
Crafting in WoW in stale AF despite the latest improvements (too little, too late) but FFXIV's system is far from being revolutionary. All the fuss about crafting jobs having their own "rotations" is just overrated (and honestly dull): fishing is probably more interesting than the remaining jobs combined and crafting jobs in general are essentially identical to each other. With that said, FFXIV wins hands down in this segment due to the sheer amount of amazing glamours you can create, along with the housing stuff.
Crafting Exarchic gear as I listen to this video.
