DESCRIPTION:
Final Fantasy XIV[b] is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix. Directed and produced by Naoki Yoshida, it was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 3 in August 2013, as a replacement for the failed 2010 version of the game, with support for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and macOS releasing later. Final Fantasy XIV takes place in the fictional land of Eorzea, five years after the events of the original 2010 release. At the conclusion of the original game, the primal dragon Bahamut escapes from its lunar prison to initiate the Seventh Umbral Calamity, an apocalyptic event which destroys much of Eorzea. Through the gods’ blessing, the player character escapes the devastation by time traveling five years into the future. As Eorzea recovers and rebuilds, the player must deal with the impending threat of invasion by the Garlean Empire from the north.
The original Final Fantasy XIV, released in September 2010, was a commercial and critical failure. In response, then-Square Enix President Yoichi Wada announced that a new team, led by Yoshida, would take over and attempt to fix the issues with it. This team was responsible for generating content for the original version as well as developing a brand new game which would address all of the previous release’s criticisms. This new game, initially dubbed “Version 2.0”, features a new game engine, improved server infrastructure, and revamped gameplay, interface, and story. The original version shut down in November 2012 and was followed by an alpha test for Version 2.0.

—————————————————————————————————
World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. Set in the Warcraft fantasy universe, World of Warcraft takes place within the world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events of the previous game in the series, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.[3] The game was announced in 2001, and was released for the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise on November 23, 2004. Since launch, World of Warcraft has had eight major expansion packs: The Burning Crusade (2007), Wrath of the Lich King (2008), Cataclysm (2010), Mists of Pandaria (2012), Warlords of Draenor (2014), Legion (2016), Battle for Azeroth (2018), and Shadowlands (2020).
Similar to other MMORPGs, the game allows players to create a character avatar and explore an open game world in third- or first-person view, exploring the landscape, fighting various monsters, completing quests, and interacting with non-player characters (NPCs) or other players. The game encourages players to work together to complete quests, enter dungeons and engage in player versus player (PvP) combat, however the game can also be played solo without interacting with others. The game primarily focuses on character progression, in which players earn experience points to level up their character to make them more powerful and buy and sell items using in-game currency to acquire better equipment, among other game systems.

So yeah, I had a lot of fun being a viewer of the race in FFXIV. It was also interesting to see how top raiding guilds in WoW would do! Anyways, I also think that WoW's race could be improved pretty drastically by taking a page out of what FFXIV does…
Hey, Willyum you forgot two of the issues!
THE DUNGEON JOURNAL and the Raids are using DBM as a crutch in World of Warcraft.
You don't need/against the TOS to use Cactbot in FFXIV but you are mandatorily forced to use DBM in World of Warcraft.
I think PTR is precisely why Limit and Echo didnt do as well as some people expected, sure theres this sentiment of "They did do well top 40 and 50 is good for first time!" Not really these are the two BEST WoW raiding teams in the world currently, meaning their ability to strategize when they see new mechanics and adapt when they need to should be some of the best, like TPS, FFXIV Raiding isnt that hugely different from WoW that those general skills should fall off so much, But like said i dont really think thats why they didnt do great, I think PTR contributes to that by narrowing the amount of players who have advanced knowledge, combine that with the 20 man team size and you get less teams and then throw in a few annoying grinds per tier and I think thats how you end up with only 2 teams mostly being talked about in the race, While FFXIV no grinds, smaller teams and no PTR it puts the ability for a lot more people to just jump in on the same level and go go go, showing that theres prolly a lot of really better players out there who are not in Limit or Echo cause they dont play wow or dont world first in wow.
A lot of the issues you bring up in this video are not as simple as you seem to imply. I think a big part of why wow raids have tuning issues is because of the way gearing works and how dynamic the fights are compared to FFXIV. Gearing in wow is pretty random especially early in a tier and in FFXIV the devs know exactly what gear everyone can and will have at any point. Also 90% of the fights in FFXIV are patchwork single target which makes tuning much easier where WoW has way different damage profiles required for the way the fights are designed. Not saying either is better just that I think the FFXIV raid balance team for sure has a much easier job than the WoW raid balance team given these factors.
For TEA, it was not a 13 hour lead but a 3 DAY and 13 hour lead for TPS
Oh yes, let’s compare ffxiv and WoW
When I hear about FFXIV doing in house testing I remember hearing something awhile back where the Dev Team doesn't release a raid until the in house testers beat that raid so that they don't have to do that mid race patching WOW is so guilty of because they already know the fight is beatable by not the best players in the world
WoW raids is basically follow prompts from addons. It's ridiculous Blizzard has encouraged this form of gameplay over the years. FF14 raids is pay attention to boss actions and mechanic markers, along with other players and what they are doing. It is much more mentally involved and each player has much more responsibility.
I think one thing to also bring up is the amount of resources and planning that is required in a WoW World First race. I remember reading what Method was doing to be able to do their race, for Mythic Jayna. Not even during the fights, but just the planning phases. Which included spending millions upon millions of gold to transfer entire guildbank full of crafting materials so that people could level a profession to a certain point to get access to a specific widget. Not to mention the further gearing preparation which involved the entire guild, not just the world first raiders, to do split runs so specific people could get a specific gearslot filled with a specific piece of gear. Then the additional astronomical cost of getting their food, flasks and potions prepared.
The staggering amount of work, preparation, and setup needed perforce means that a lot of people are locked out of even attempting to race. Weeks, if not months, of exhaustive grinding and gathering and crafting on top of the week(s) needed to prog itself is a high barrier of entry.
Raid prep for world first in FFXIV is much simpler. Sure you do need to have some prepwork, but the amount and cost of it is so dramatically lower than anyone who can take a week off of work and access to some capped crafters can get it done in a couple of days and spend the rest of the time progging on the fights themselves.
I LOVE DDR! I still play StepMania at home nearly everyday xD (StepMania, ITG, DDR, OutFox)
While I understand that world first is world first in terms of technicality, but them stream sniping and having Naguura taking notes on other groups for strats makes their run seems less impressive when compared to Echo.
FF14 team can manage to do all things because they actually lead by someone who knows how to play the game, while WoW team prefers selling boost instead of actually testing their own game and leave everything to the PTR players to do the works for them, and won't be a surprised if some PTR players found something buggy/exploit but decided to keep it to themselves so they have advantage over others in real server later.
Imo, WoW needing PTR for their raids in its unbalanced and buggy states solidifies the idea that the devs themselves dont play their game😅Thats a sad truth unfortunately.
You made a slight mistake, TPS in 2019 was ahead by 87 hours not 13 hours, they completed 7:26AM on 11-16 while the next best was 8:19PM on 11-19
You left out just one issue, WoW guilds using rmt to buy boe gear and other items to help with the race, sometimes spending tens of thousands of dollars.
To add that; not all FF14 sever launch globally , CN and KR sever are like a month or two behind the content due to their censorship, which lead ppl using vpn and fake address to play outside of their own sever then some got banned and be salty about it lmao
