  1. I didn't start playing with island sanctuary until last night. And while I got to rank 5 now, I'm not sure the content is really for me. I like crafting games, I like idle games, I like automation games. And I thought this might scratch a few of those itches, but its been landing a little flat for me — not enough choice of layout/decoration to just spend time rearranging things. I want something to do besides gathering. Perhaps once I get my first granary built and can supplement gathering with that, it might help a little. Might need to switch some workshops over to granaries for a better idle experience, but still want something besides gathering to mess around with while idling.

  2. I mean u r so right, this is content is take ur time with, cuz I am literally taking my sweet time with it I started it when the patch first released and I just hit rank 7, I have no problem with the time gated mechanic, and I love everything about this content, my only problem with Island sanctuary why the F is everything has to be with Seafarer's cowrie 🤦🤦 upgrading the island and the rewards why??! And the other cowrie is completely useless why not make the blue cowrie for rewards while the green cowrie for upgrades, I hope they change this cuz right now this system is a mess and it my only problem with Island sanctuary, cuz so far I love Island sanctuary I am so addicted I have been playing it a lot

  3. I already maxed everything myself, for the last reddit post that said there's no point is kinda untrue, since i have lot of mats from gathering grind that means i can be lazy and no need to gather stuffs for a really long time, i just need to go in everyday for 10 minutes to collect leavings, granary expedition and workshop income then i can focus on other contents OR doing something else entirely. To me it's like a homework that I need to do early on so I can take it easy for the rest of summer holiday lol

  4. I alternate no-lifeing progressing my island content and riding around on mounts looking like the island animals and grooving to the chill music. Both ways are valid because I'm having fun doing both. =D

  5. I kinda went hard a little bit for the first two days I played, and you do get that extreme urge to just go ahead and grind up the last bit of exp needed to rank up sometimes, but I've since cooled my jets and plan on just checking in on it daily. Updatng work schedules, feeding the animals, etc.I believe I'm at rank 6 right now and I'm very happy with what I have at the moment….though could use another pasture…

And ooh, I also want to make a chocobo ranch! planning on doing so after I've gotten every pasture and I'm not focusing as much on getting specific materials. Though I may just start it once I open up a new pasture.

  6. I'm casually enjoying it and it's mainly because I don't see the rush.
The rare animals are gated behind weather conditions and timing.
The crops are gated behind 2 day cycles.
Even though I'm rank 8 and with a lot of stuff at lv3. It's not liking reaching rank 10 will instantly give me 50k cowries(?) so I can get the mounts and minions before the weekly reset anyway.
Then again the raise to be first is always a thing.

  7. The moment I saw a video by some other content creator making a spreadsheet on how to "optimize" your island experience, I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
Now I'm not saying they CAN'T optimize their sanctuary for the fastest and best gains, but just like the meme template in the first 10 seconds of your video shows:
"It's casual content to relax with." – I 100% agree with this. After capping my tomes for the week, crafting all my gear for the upcoming savage tier and getting the 615 weapon from grinding the EX trial, I want to unwind and relax on my island, not map out a spreadsheet far parsing trees and rocks.
Again, not saying that people CAN'T optimize their island, but what they'll end up doing is burning through the content like they do with the savage tier, then complain that there's "no content" and stop playing until 6.3.

  9. Some folks are enjoying the min-max. The grind, the spreadsheets, the hunt for rares.
Some folks are enjoying the faffing around and chill and farming.

We can all laugh together about how hideously addicted so many of us are in different ways. Like me. I'm having so much fun I totally forgot there's a msq to go do.

  10. Even though I won't personally understand the desire to rush through content like this, racing to be the "first," getting burnt out, running out of things to do, etc., to each their own. I'm sure the way I play would bother someone even more casual than me, since I really enjoy staring at the markets and figuring out the best possible things to sell, even if I dislike using data from guides.

  11. Going by Zepla as an example, people don't meme the hardcore types because they've already grinded out to rank 10 but due to them complaining that there's nothing to do after grabbing what's probably the most casual content in the game in its barest foundational form and and milking it dry.

  12. I love how they created Island Sanctuaries as casual content to help alleviate desires for those without housing. YET they put those same island instances along with the same servers as housing. On most worlds (i'm in Aether) you can't even zone into your home / apartment / FC house after work hours due to congestion. The irony. Oh and people like Zepla complain there isn't enough to do on the islands "we need more"… as I think to myself great, more people that will just never leave their island effectivly punishing the rest of us with housing.
