Breaking Down the 6.4 Story! FFXIV Lore

Shout out to the fans who requested this video! I’m usually so serious with my typical content that I felt like having a bit of fun here and there in this one. Over all this patch and its subsequent lore is about par for the course with most FFXIV content. No huge revelations but it does touch on things we more or less already knew. Lemme know what you thought about the patch down in the comments!

  1. I'm surprised you didn't bring up the plan to use the 1st and all it's Light aether against the 13ths Dark aether, some how.
also I use my 'stone of 'the devs just giving up and making the Duty/Party Finder cannon instead of trying to explain how the WoL can keep getting a full squad together at a moments notice' to summon randos, even though I'm in 2 FCs so I could probably just ask. thought to be fair, feels like trying to get anyone together to do anything is like herding particularly unruly cats. So probably for the best.

  2. Unless my memory is off, the Story after doin' all ShadowBringer Role Quests actually has you find out that The First also has a decent like to The Thirteened

  3. all this could have been avoided if we asked golbez to sit down for a tea to explain him that we could have them all as long as we didnt corrupt the source in the process 😮‍💨

  4. I like spicy food in real life, so I'm glad I had the chance to make my WoL love spicy food as well!
Also, Zero's "Let us replenish our aether!" was hilarious and adorable 😀

  5. When Y'shtola said that the dark ambient aether from Zodiark affected what shard they could go to, could using a good amount of aether around a location like the Crystal Tower open up a portal to the 1st due to the towers connection with each other?

  6. What I've been wondering about…so what did Golbez do for thousands of years? Does time run at different Speed on the 13th just like for the 1st? If not, did he just hide from the Cloud of Darkness all the time and then immediately built his Platform and Throne as soon as Zodiark died? When did he recruit the Four Fiends?

I find it hard to imagine him sitting around with Azdaja imprisoned for all that time and doing little but scheming

  7. Just a small thing… Erenville talks about a homecoming, and it's lore-stated that male Viera are exiles who go back home once a year to collect young males and that one other thing…

  8. I'm genuinely surprised that the Soul of Azem still has enough juice to keep breaking open holes between worlds. I do wonder though… just how much power does it have left? Maybe the 6.5 trial, or whatever patch is the last for Endwalker, will be the point at where it finally becomes unusable.

  9. Vrtra absolutely could have flown the canisters to the moon. The Garlean stuff felt like retreading old ground and was a little tedious. One thing that really irks me is that Vrtra hasn't asked his other two siblings to assist with getting their sister back. There is no reason why Hraesvelgr at minimum wouldn't join in and multiple first broods would have ensured success. It's a bit of a plot hole for me.

  10. On the subject of aetherfonts in Eorzea: It could be possible that it's not just conflict, but life in general that prevents aetherfonts from forming in Eorzea. Like a geothermal powerplant draws energy from the earth, reducing the power of enarby geysers, the abunance of intelligent life capable of using aether in their day to day lives prevents the buildup required to trigger an aetherfont even during times of peace.
