  1. PLD is usually my go-to, especially since the rework.

I find the flexibility of HS is very useful for maintaining GCD uptime when doing mechanics, which comes up a lot in ultimates. Just off the top of my head I can think of 3 times when out of melee range I use a DMHS just in the first 2 phases of TOP (looper tether, panto, MF tethers).

The extra party mitigation from PLD is also amazing for ultimate, since the final phase of most ultimate ends up being a heal check of how good your mit plan is, and between veil and passage you can mit so much to help your healers here.

For ultimate, I feel like anyone doing an on patch ultimate should be good enough at their job to clear the DPS check (hell my team cleared TOP on patch with PLD and RDM and were even having to hold DPS on some phases depending on crits, and with the balance now being closer than it was in 6.3 I doubt FRU will have as tight of DPS checks as on release TOP) so the biggest question for me is always utility, in which PLD is second to none (except for invulns, we suck there)

Realistically it's going to come down to the fight design of FRU, how is the uptime structured, how are the busters spaced, how much of a heal check is it, how bad is the DPS check.

  2. I'm not sure what Tank will be the best, but I can tell you what will be the worst. Dark Knight. I'm still maining it solely for love of the job, there is no real gameplay reason to pick a Dark Knight over any of the other three. Doing Savage as Dark Knight was a miserable experience this tier.

  3. You forgot to mention that PLD's mits suffer a bit from downtime, as the oath gauge doesn't fill if you're not landing autos. Maybe minor, but still could make a difference in niche scenarios

  4. If they leave the tank balance as it is and If dmg is even a slight issue the best tank gonna be DRK without a doubt, about the physical mit usually in ultimates the buster are so tightly balanced that they have to balance it around drk so basically i dont think they will put physical buster but yeah we may have physical raidwide tho, but you know what was in eden ahkmorns and those are made for drk and gnb party mit.

If dmg isnt an issue the best is PLD having 2 party mits and having holy sheltron+intervantion for some double busters is huge.

Gnb is always always great but usually its number 2 in ultimates

WAR is ok since its bursty but for 1 big buster its usually the least defensive sometimes you may need a mit from healers especially if you didn't fully optimise your tank mits which sometimes happen in prog.

But honestly right now you can play any 2 and do good and if dmg is an issue just take a picto in your group 😂

  5. I would describe this as preliminary. Best in Slot weapons require at least 7 weeks to prepare so anyone who's been prepping for Ultimate will only have 2 weapons, and Ultimates tend to have very specific requirements not seen in Savage. How Tanks interact with heal checks is also very important, their Invulns play a massive part in prog and each invul has their major upsides and downsides.
