Out of all 4 tanks in FFXIV, which one do I think has the best invuln?

  1. Depending on the content cause of straight up damage negation like Hallowed & Bolide is needed sometimes, but otherwise I'd say Holmgang due to the simple reason of a lower (3 minutes I think?) cooldown. Pretty easy to heal yourself back up too anyways, or just get the benediction treatment like GNB. Bolide takes 2nd imo, cause they have corundum now too!

  2. It always will be holmgang. Shorter CD means more uses during fights. Thats why almost every savage and ultimate comp loves warriors. This tier alone has three fights where Hallowed is absolute dog shit, and where if you are skilled enough Superbolide and Living Dead can fit into a Holmgang timing so tank swaps/mechs are just not important.

Anyone who doesnt actually play content past basic stuff wont know this, so i dont blame you but that was weird hearing hallowed when its always been the worst

  3. and hallowed sucks cause of its stupid long CD and the fact that it has a huge start up animation… you can press it and it just… doesnt go off instantly so you die

  4. bolide is the best imo the 1hp thing isn’t really an issue because there’s plenty of time to heal up. hallowed cd is so long. but i don’t do dungeons anymore just raid so that probably impacts my opinion

  5. Loaded question because it depends on the situation. Warrior is best in a lot of places because of its shirt CD. Dgns ez to self heal while raids, you need help. Pld is arguably the worst in raids because of long CD but decent in dgns because you keep your hp and no damage taken. Gnb being in between pld/warrior and being a mixture of them, falls in between pld and warrior. No damage but needs help to restore hp. Drk arguably being better than holmgang but locked behind knowing when to use it. You must take lethal damage for it to proc. Self healing is easy in dungeons AND raids.

  6. As a PLD main i would say hollowed ground is the safest invuln to use cuz of how straight forward it is.
The short cd of holmgang and considering how early you'll have access to it makes its better imo

  7. I know people like Holmgang as a 2nd, but eh. For Holmgang to do anything, you have to first get your HP down to 1. It's not like Superbolide that it reduces your HP to 1, but… if you pop Holmgang and a second later you get a Benediction, then you just flat out wasted it 100%. It's not too often I need to pop and invuln so a longer CD on HG doesn't bother me really. It just works, without putting me or requiring me to be in an incredibly dangerous situation.

  8. Going through expansion iterations in high end fights.

    ARR
    PLD > WAR

    HW & SB
    WAR > PLD > DRK

    SHB
    WAR > PLD > GNB > DRK

    EW
    WAR > PLD = DRK > GNB

Some notes: For awhile WAR had several restrictions on its invuln activation that have slowly been removed overtime, just to tack on one extra minute and still be the shortest. DRK’s EW QoL was long overdue. Even then, it’s still a buggy invuln in rare instances. Specifically, mechanics that interact with character state at the same damage instance of triggering walking dead. This can cause invuln not to trigger properly where other tanks would work fine (prevalent during Stormblood raids).

  9. Holmgang considered in isolation is pretty bad, Living Dead being better.

You can't be reduced below 1HP with either Holm or LD, but with LD you get something like 100% Lifesteal to reset your HP bar while the effect lasts.

Holm you'll be reduced to 1HP and stay at 1HP.

But, considering WAR gets Equilibrium and Raw Intution/Bloodwhetting which is close enough to LD's 100% lifesteal it almost doesn't matter.

But if you're low enough level that you have the invuln and not Raw Intuition then you have to rely on Healer. Compared to LD which just has that healing baked in.
