  1. Welcome! It’s always nice to see new players!

One tip I would leave is using your tank stance. I think for gladiator ( and later Paladin) the ability is called Iron Will. When you use it in dungeons, it will stay on until you turn it off or leave dungeon. This ensures that the mobs enmity will be on you and you can turn them away from the group. You can see who has enmity in the group (like say your healer uses a regen and gets the monsters attention) by looking at your name in the party list. If your name has a full pink bar under your gla. Symbol and it says A then you have the monster’s attention. You can also see who is next in line in grabbing the bosses attention by the numbers next to the other players names. Say you die, whoever is 2 on the list will get the attention of the monster next. I hope I’m explaining this well.

Iron will is not on when you enter dungeons. You have to turn it on in dungeon. Your oath gauge (shield with wings on your screen) will turn yellow if tank stance on.

Also the main story quest is the meat of your experience points on first job. It is also how you get a mount. I believe it is around level 20 of the MSQ that you get it after choosing a grand company. So even if you are level 20 now, you won’t unlock the mount until your MSQ is level 20. So just stick to the MSQ. They are the quests that look like it has flames around it or looks like a meteor.

I hope this helps. Good luck. It is slow at first, but think of ARR as laying the groundwork for all the greatness to come!
