Lol thanks Kou. I have been afraid to try the harder content honestly but you’re right! I’ll watch some people who are actually good at this and then I’ll give it a shot myself!
It's definitely a mentality that a lot of new players can have. When I hit endgame, I thought I'd never be good enough to do ultimates so I mostly focused on savage fights for the dyable glamour and mount. But then someone told me that if you can clear Shiva E8S, then you can probably clear UWU and that was the encouragement I needed at the time to try that next level of content. It's just sorta taking each level of difficulty one step at a time to gain confidence and practice
Just the other day I was held hostage to a mentor roulette that tossed me into a Titan EX, with 6 blind sprouts. After the 5th wipe with no progression I did a vote abandon because I wanted to do other things, but they kept rejecting it. Saying they were making progress (because of echo, since they were still stacking gaols and eating landslides like a champ).
Took that 30 min penalty for leaving like a pro….
I don't mind teaching people EX fights and helping them with the clear, but I don't know why people assume you can just run and gun them without knowledge. The ilvls do make them easier and they have been nerfed to hell, but doesn't mean you can clear it in two tries.
This is why the phrase "You don't pay my sub" got invented.
Jk
I am not a fan of Dance Rehearsals for the content. Never will be.
Unless you're super new and have no idea how your job works I'd highly recommend practicing in max lvl normal or alliance raids over a training dummy, they're both extremely forgiving and offer far more opportunities to improve than a dummy. When doing any max lvl content enemies will not let you go through your rotation at your leisure, knowing how to handle interruptions at different points of your rotation is very important.
Things to keep in mind while practicing: ABC (Always Be Casting, keep that gcd rolling at all times), don't overcap resources, and make sure your cds are being used when available unless there's a good reason to hold them. Handling mechanics will always be more important than hiccups in your rotation, don't stress but think of what could be done better for next time. For tanks and healers don't blow everything at once, make sure you're both using your powerful cds and always have something available when it's needed.
Something to note: Enemy attacks are completed when their cast bar is full whether or not the telegraph for that attack is visible. You can be out of a telegraph and die or in a telegraph and live, it's very awkward at first but very helpful to understand.
If you're a caster you're able to move slightly before your cast finishes, this is called slide casting and is very helpful to keep casting while avoiding mechanics – it can be practiced from as early as lvl 1 and I highly recommend doing so at all times – during the msq, dailies, roulettes, whatever.
Raiding ain't for me. It's not that I don't have the time, I just simply don't enjoy it. That kind of content is not fun, and I'd just be pissed off the entire time. I'll stick to extremes.
Ahh..the joys of not showering for a week straight and playing for up to 6-8h a night, missing birth of your kids..missing christmas..having no sex life or love life. Can't say i miss it. fun times of Vanilla wow as a progression raid healer My friend did miss his first son being born cause it was progression raid night for his guild amazed they even let him play knowing his wife at the time was in labor at the hospital and his wife ended up divorcing him. Some ppl are just sad. lol
i stopped progging because of people using act and trying to use it as a decision g factor if we can prog or not
FFXIV is a weeb game my god took me 7 years to realize this…
I only came here cause I was fascinated by the tiny bun boi ears.
Watched 2mins and can say how are y'all so stupid to be bad at any game tbh, this shit so free
The secret to clearing content is lore and nobody can convince me otherwise!
I'll stick to socializing xD
Who is using Koikatsu from steam?^^
I feel like for me and probably a relatively decent number of people that are interested in raiding (despite xiv's overall reputation for being pretty accepting of people's mistakes and not being needlessly horrible) there's still that massive hesitancy to jump into something with the name Savage or Extreme, or even something as notoriously difficult as an Ultimate, especially with random people in a PF group. There's a part of me that wants so desperately to get into raiding and do the more difficult content since a lot of the rewards are Mega Tasty, but being my first mmo that I've actually gotten up to current content with (WoW was literally just. following an ex-friend around to do older content they wanted to do for transmog or mount hunting and never doing anything I wanted to do) makes me feel like despite my 1600+ hours in this game that I don't have the, I guess, "credence" to just walk in and try to do Savage content, much less ask to join/form a group considering the only Savage content I've touched is the Alexander raids at current max level for some glam pieces I wanted.
I'm sure it's a minority view among the playerbase, considering how often I actually do see Legend titles or players with rare shiny weapons/armor wandering around doing things that aren't just raiding, but stepping into the harder content from only doing MSQ/older content at current max level is extremely daunting and keeps my hand hovering over my mouse and just never clicking the button to join groups out of fear of being ridiculed for not being Good Enough or for not understanding the 30 different raiding terms and shorthand they have in the PF descriptions. This video does help alleviate that feeling a bit though, and it's come at a time when I've been trying to push myself more and more the past few days to actually take that first step and get over all this negative baggage I've put onto myself so thank you for making it. ^u^
Yo this is actually good advice, what the shit?
Yeah, weeb glamour MMO. Everything is locked behind that boring as MSQ.
6:40 this BLM never stack…
Why I will never clear the hardcore content: I'm antisocial as Squall and I grew up on Zelda, viewing guides and research as an admittance of my own incompetence. I would have to find an entire raid group with the same mentality as me that is also extremely respectful or I'd be like nah, life is too short to voluntarily deal with jerks. If I could get that many people that were like yeah we'll fumble through it without our own hands and eyes and figure it out ourselves, I might could. Might. But I'm too much of a hermit to look for said people.
spoken like a man thats never used party finder xD
showed this to Hector , hes very happy
As an overworked college student who cleared half of the current savage week 1, my tips to new players are:
1. Slowly work on your fundamentals and you'll be ahead of the curve in no time
2. Being reactive and having the general feel of the encounter beforehand is more helpful than being solely focused on doing damage
3. Have patience with your teammates and even more importantly with yourself
4. If someone is overly aggressive about Damage numbers, block and report them immediately
5. If you're using Party Finder like me, pop a Xanax before the raid night
I'm a dumb casual that works 9 to 5 & well never clear an ultimate & I have been playing for years.
Honestly been attempting to find a static for ps raids. As a summoner it's a bit difficult especially with how late I am attempting to get to it but won't stop me from trying!
who is the cute miqote?
Love the video Kou and good work as usual, it's great to see how far you've come (I'm an og sub since your LDS days) I definitely been having fun with the harder content and as long as you set a goal and have the patience, anyone can definitely learn it and enjoy themselves
Thanks for the shout out! Big fan of your videos!
Doing Extreme/Savage content is really fun, but you want to know what my end game is?
Glamour-
No joke I’ve been slamming my head against the wall on Eden raids for the trash pieces- I mean those armor thingys to get the undyed versions of outfits but eventually i want to try and get a small group of friends together and have us try and run some Eden Savage raids :3
I really want to fight Eden Shiva savage cause that fight looks so fucked up for my small brain I want to do it lmao
Ive never touched a current savage in my life and all I do is log in to level classes and do cute things with my fc lol
i've cleared the previous 2 tier and felt confident going into this tier…. for some reason i struggled so, so. Constantly being told how easy this game is is quite disheartening, if i cant even clear easy stuff, then im screwed when content gets harder… Honestly i think raiding destroyed my enjoyment of this game and it sucks
My FC has now pointed out to me that when you talk about carrying people in P7. it is me that dies. All Publicity is good Publicity tho lol (Val Ongaku) 1:41 if you wanna see what im talking about
I have said I would only do that content if I find a group of people that I can get along with to avoid any unnecessary stress that could come with toxicity or just not being able to handling the frustration of the fight. I also have a problem and is that I haven't found my main job or one that I dominate, maybe Dancer which feels natural to me but idk. Memorizing too cumbersome rotations is not my thing so maybe I'll be better healing or tanking? Idk, it's something I'm trying to figure out because I would love to do that content but I don't have the group and feel really intimidated.
I did the Criterion Dungeon with a friend (duo) and we were progging the fight which is a new thing for me (not for her) and I was so frustrated cause it annoys me when I don't get why I'm dying and also when I have to pay attention to what is going on and mess up my dps badly. Then she told me that this is how you prog and that your damage/rotation is a complete mess until you learn the fight which was a "ahhhhhh" moment for me lol. Anyway, I'm happy to see others like me here and someday I will be raiding I hope. I don't see myself being hardcore but I do want those mounts, gear, weapons, etc damn it.
