My personal wishes for tanks are pretty similar. I want Paladin to turn Holy Spirit/Circle into the Confiteor button when you hit Requiscat, make clemency an oGCD, and I want Sentinel to boost oath gauge. I want Dark Knight to have Carve and Spit and Abyssal Drain cost 3000mp like Edge/Flood of Shadow but heal the Dark Knight on hit, Oblation to give a weak version of essential dignity to give Dark Knights something that plays with low hp, and I would love Shadow Wall to have a magic reflect like how vengeance works on physical hits. For Gunbreaker I want Double Down to cost only a single cartridge but it gets a continuation that also costs a second cartridge, and I want Nebula to lower Aurora's cd for each hit taken. There's not much I'd change about Warrior other than making Vengeance not nullify Arm's Length and letting the AoE combo give beast gauge at lower levels. For all tanks, I'd like to see a visual effect on their gauge similar to how Dark Knights can see their Darkside timer, let Warriors see their buff timer, and give Paladins and Gunbreakers a visual indicator of when Flight or Fight/No Mercy is off cooldown and active
I want dark knight to stop being watered down when it came with a high skill gap, itβs has no identity. It barely functions differently at all. Lowest dps, mid mitigation and they removed the best animations.
Come on. PvP even has dark knight in a better spot

I just couldnt for the life of me figure out the rotation – and for other jobs I got it more or less right by just hitting a dummy over and over and just learning it on the go. Paladin was a pain…
18:00 — You could solve the Rampart problem by keeping it as is it, meaning simple early cd, and upgrade it at level x into something job specific.

I just want more combos involving shield. I'm so sad that Shield isn't used at all in attacking of PLD animations.
This might be a really unpopular take, but I wouldnβt mind 123 combos be compressed into a single button that flips between them, like how chain skills worked in Aion. (Though of course I realise it would be a bit messy with samurai for example)
I do hope they make all the 30% mit that the tanks have more interesting, otherwise it might as well be a role action like rampart. It would also help give more uniqueness/identity to each tank too if they get special buffs from their own big mit button. Same applies to Heart of Light/Dark Missionary.
I will say though I am a cover enjoyer. I have saved so many ppl with it from raidwides in extrememe farms! I know Intervention could accomplish the same task BUT, sometimes the mit isn't enough compared to cover. Plus if they have any vuln stacks or magic/physical vuln and you cover them, the damage you receive from cover will not count the debuffs they have and only count yours. So you could save someone with 16 vuln stacks, theoretically at least. Or alternatively you can just cover the healer from all damage so that they can healer lb3 your cute butt safely afterward~
Those are some few uses it has, it has been nerfed at one point for some reason making it less viable then ever, but I would like to see cover improved rather then it being removed entirely. It almost has no use in raid settings besides to help with prog, but the same can be said about Clemency or Vercure. Plus those skills help with their job's identity, and its always nice to have the option. If it causes button bloat, you can always just remove it from your hotbar and it wouldn't be any different imo

Yeah, good thing you're DK main. Still unrealistic expectations on those changes. Anyone would play DK after that and the class would be powershowered a/f. π

While I agree with some, I think WAR doesn't need more potency, it should be behind DRK and GNB in damage, heck before it got it's final big buff, it was only 2% dps behind DRK, back in the whole P8S malding, they even said the fight was overtuned and WAR still got buffed.
It is currently the best tank to play TBN doesn't need to be increased to 8 seconds, it needs to be reworking.
Shield bash is very powerful in Palace of the Dead. It has niche uses like casters sleep but I like the fact it exists.

I like the video man but you forgot the most important chang efor GNB , if we are keeping the 3 cartridges it needs a button to let it load bullets during downtime , yes like soulsow from rpr.
Right any boss that is not fulluptime or in 90 ultimates its just miserable.
And before some nerd comes talking about just save the bullets , I say you really wanna have to be doing aoe combo during single target?

If Blood Weapon and Delibrium are suggested to be one ability because of "skill issue", then why should Shadow Wall rewards a free TBN? If DRK gets below 3000 MP outside of opener, that's a skill issue. And if we justify using Shadow Wall after every opener, it would make the skill way too inflexible.

Think Drk should really get something like RI/BW for sustainability. When I think classic DRK from FF I think the classic Blood Sword weapon that absorb hp per hit. So maybe rework Blood Weapon to give cure potency on hit then BW+Delerium into a new skill/trait upgrade path. Because damn DRK needs some sustainability.

Hi there Azu! I have 0 idea what you don't like with almost every point for PLD (except shield bash since it's a relic from long forgotten times) Because These points are not the issue of the job IMO. Passage of arms and it's use (can't attackmove when casting it, you have to keep ppl in the small zone behind you, and they have to stay there, because defensive buff falls off after 3 second, ETC) or Sheltron nerf, with removing 100% block from it, and just making it 15% dmg resistance, (also buwark is garbage ty for 120 CD for block lmao. Animation is nice atleast) or Quirky Gauge Generation that you can't enchance by any means since you can't raise your attack speed by regular attacks. I'm not talking about rework that made it even easier, and dumber. Merging Req+FoF, kinda cool, but Req is an attack, that needs target, just like bard songs, whle PLD is a melee, and enemy won't be always available or close. Cover is a must have. It's ESSENTIAL, Just like a DEFENSIVE GAUGE. Cover provides oppotunities to save other players, even tho not as abundant as players may want to. If they fix Skill (server) Issue, and give it a bit of range, maybe bring back 10% mit on it, it will see more use. As it is now, in normal gameplay you're not always available to turn the tide, and save this sprout from standing in aoe, or maybe prevent Knockback (yes, target, that covered, redirects Knockback effects to PLD, aslo all DoTs if it's not scripted, but not if it's applied Pre-cover so to speak). And even in damn raids, to save a panicked DPS who somehow (by the fault of a tank) got a Tankbuster marker above it's head. Since i'm not a gamedev of our beloved ff14 but a passionate PLD main, i can name a few QoL improvements, that i would've liked:
1) Make Divine Might be a Omni swiftcast, for any magic (yes, make it work for Clemency as well)
2) Rework Passage of arms Completely
3) Make Bulwark not pointless. I like my Buttons, it's not a whole kit and caboodle of a DRK with GCD for +5 to def to be less dead. They all mean something, they are strong, and mean alot. That's why Bulwark needs to be not a block chance, (i remind you, that chance was stolen form Sheltron) but something entirely different. Plus 50 Gauge? Maybe. Free casts for Req? Yes.(Maybe a rez….? Nah, to funny)
4) Goring blade is a bland button now. With DoT it meant something, but now, it's just a GCD with 700 potency every minute. GNB DOES TWICE THAT WITH OGCD COME ON! Don't buff potency, Give it a regen, Shield, whatever. Rn this thing just *EXISTS*.
I think that's the short of it (even tho it's not even close, bruh). Every time it look at these thing, and it makes me sad, but also, reminds me that with EW closure, PLD job (as many others) hit it first milestone of 10 years of existing! And while being more or less capable of being competitive with other jobs, and even have relics that a still useful to this day (i'm looking at you, Shield bash) deserves a praise. For Sultana, For Thanalan!.. I guess.

Part of me feels like extending no mercy to 25 seconds is more just at band-aid solution. Even if we extend it, we'll just end right back where we started if we add any new burst GCDs or means of generating cartreges. At the same time there isn't really much to meanigfully fill the extra time for odd burst. Moreover let's not forget that we want a spare cartrage a mere 5 seconds after burst in time for mid filler gnashing fang. Right now we're on the edge of being able to fit everything, and so we cling to that idea, and I think what I think will be healthier for the Job in the long run is to push it decisively over that edge, and just make it impossibe to fit every single ting we want to into even bursts so we can stop worrying about trying to. For example, how about Sonic Break gives you an extra cartrage, and bloodfest lets you execute a follow-up GCD for double down thats free. This way odd burst gets to be more substantive while we ensure that even burst are still stronger, we'll have more wiggle-room with our cartrage cout going into burst without loosing out on the most imporant stuff, meaning we aren't as hurt whenever we lack a target, and the spare 2 burst strikes outside of no mercy this affords us can be used to make the most of longer buffs like searing light, or misaligned buffs. If also cartrage spenders were given a defensive effect, like for example you could make them give you a shield like how paladin's spells heal them, then now you an extra tool to work with as a tank. Whether my specific suggestions are the best way to go about it I have no idea, and is more so besides my real point that simply extending no mercy may not be the right approach in the long run. A whole other direction to take could be to condence the burst, by giving you more things to spend your cartridges on or perhaps making the gnashing fang combo be faster like Red Mage's enhanced melee combo (which I think sounds quite fun, letting it rip like a heat blasting machinist).
Reload for gnb – works like sam's meditation, 9 sec channel gives 1 powder gauge every 3 seconds.
I think it would be the best for everybody decision if they would rework Cover into a pure mit that you give another player and yourself. And upgrade Cover into Intervention on lvl62
Also, I think it would be pretty cool if there was a Trait on GNB that gives them a small mit everytime they use a Cartridge, make it stackable, but gets lost when using Double Down. Kinda works with your idea of NM giving DD ready. Idk but I like this kind of whacky flavor
Sadly, if 2 minute meta stays, Gunbreaker's no mercy will never be adjusted, but, an option to charge cartridges without comboing the boss would be nice for down time moments
